Title: Name Changes.

Solidus - August 21, 2004 11:07 PM (GMT)
Some people have requested name changes.

This cannot be done. Your username is what you chose and should be stuck with throughout your days on the forum.

Solidus.

the_cobbinator - August 21, 2004 11:16 PM (GMT)
You can also change it only once. So you'd better think carefully on what you'd like to change it to.

Otacon - August 21, 2004 11:19 PM (GMT)
Yeah so a brief summary.

1 name change.
1 month.

1 admin's hard work.

Refluxe - August 21, 2004 11:37 PM (GMT)
There should be none to be honest. There problem they signed up with it, they should deal with it.

L-5 - August 22, 2004 12:41 AM (GMT)
True.

Also, why do you say it's so hard to change the name? It's easy as pie.

Solidus - August 22, 2004 01:07 AM (GMT)
Yes but in the future when this forum will get bigger we dont want people seeing other people's getting changed, and then it will just trigger things off, with loads of people thinking it's ok to change straight away.

One forum I visit fixed tyhis problem by giving users the ability to change their own name.

I agree with Refluxe on this one. Why let people change there names? People need to pick a name they like the first time.

Yeah, that's my feeling now, too. It would make us seem more professional, and it'd make things a lot less confusing.

Solid Snake8 - August 23, 2004 03:39 AM (GMT)
Why is changing your name confusing? Just put something in your sig saying that you were formerly known as... I think having the power to change your name is good but since my opinion doesn't matter oh well...

My sig:
Solid Fox, formerly known as ***** and **** and ******* and ******** and *****, etc etc etc etc, I'm sorry but there's no space for a signature anymore...

I think that won't work...

Solid Snake8 - August 23, 2004 02:10 PM (GMT)
You don't have to put all your names. You could say... Lets say I change my name to Solid Cobra or something. I say, Formerly known as Solid Snake 8. Then if I change it again just keep it as your original name. Formerly known as Solid Snake 8. That's all you need to do.

Otacon - August 23, 2004 02:17 PM (GMT)
If its so contriversial Just say no no name changing.

screenshark15 - August 23, 2004 05:37 PM (GMT)
I don't see why it's so hard to just pick a good name and stick with it

Otacon - August 23, 2004 06:02 PM (GMT)
Yeah i agree with screenshark. Maybe if it is under the admins discretion?

Liquidon Snake - August 23, 2004 07:32 PM (GMT)
No, we cannot allow this to enter our forums. I have seen it destroy the trust between members on many other forums in the past, and they have been very pleasant, peaceful forums in which people counted on one another to never lie about anything, to be able to always trust. When this feature was introduced, people began to get suspicious of everyone, even people they had truste dfor the entire time that they were on the forums.
It will not happen here.
