I'm curious...

Did anybody actually defeat Mantis on their own; without looking up the trick online or asking somebody?
I had to figure it out myself...It's more fun that way I think.

Well, I did fisure it out on the first game, eventually. At first I thought I had to erase all my game data or somthing (Clear your mind!!??) then I was board of him, so I started screwing around. Switch the controller and volia!

To be honest with you, I don't really remember. I recall being frustrated to death.

My friend claims to have beaten without using controller port 2.

Well I know its possible because i've hit him a few times before switching. I bet it takes a while tho.

Did anyone tryed distroying the to statue-like heads?....or is it only possible in the original one?

I don't think its possible to destroy the statues. I really can't recall how I fought mantis the first time, I don't remember getting stressed with it though. The only part I hated was trying to knock out Meryl and stop her from shooting her brains out.

I was playing with a friend the first time so he told me.
It's very possible to beat him even without the second port thing.

Just crawl when he throws the stuff around then use the thermal goggles and shoot him while he tryes to throw the weird energy balls. Then repeat.

Gaming sites and magazines are awful at keeping secrets, I knew how to beat him before I had the game.

The first time I beat him, I just shot him when he threw the energy ball thing. When he threw other things, I just ran like hell. It takes LONG time, but it worked.

The second time, I got a call from Campbell telling me to switch the controler port. Thanks Colonel, that's information I could have used EARLIER! Seriously, they are a p*ss poor back up team.

In the very first time, I was getting when beaten by Mantis when I decided to call Cambell for advice. And he said that we must figure a way to block Mantis from reading my mind. Didn`t help much so I called cambell again... and again until he said that maybe you could switch the controller port. I was like WTF? but gave it a try and it worked.

It felt so... special bossbattle, :lol: in the end, all you had to do was to call cambell few times...

The colnel tells you to switch controller, or gives a very accurate hint, he says 'Hes reading the buttons you press on your controller Snake, somehow you must block him out, any ideas?'

It's impossible to beat him without switching controllers, I tried putting C4 on him and around the room, but he disarms it, grrrrrr. Apart from taht I don't see how you can beat him, unless you smoke near him and quickyl give him cancer lol, but he has his gas mask :P.

All that I did was just shoot at him with the FAMAS whenever he picked up the chairs, the pictures, or the armor. Overall he was pretty easy. :snake:

in TTS you can destroy the pictures and vases

when i played him it only worked in port4 and when i put it in port2 he kiked my ass

Its possible cus I did it, I'm from Chile and I was 11 yrs old so I didn't understand the hole game and so it took me a lot of tries to defeat the game, I remember that took me like 10 hours of gameplay, back to my point I didn't know English so I didn't understand that I have to Swith the cotroller, so I had to defeat Him with my Skills, after a while you see a patern on this movements its like cicle, time to time he is open to attaks but man...its a fucking bitch I remember that I spent like an hour and a half.
