Title: What did you think of MG and MG2 SS

Shagohod - July 24, 2006 12:18 AM (GMT)
What did everyone think of MG MG2 SS when it came out with subsistence

Shagohod - July 24, 2006 12:27 AM (GMT)
I didnt like it i found the overhead camera was really borring and stupid but that is just what i think

Markthecool - July 24, 2006 12:43 AM (GMT)
Um.... don't you mean MGS3S well I think the camera thing was good it saved my ass a couple of times.

Jiro - July 24, 2006 01:00 AM (GMT)
He's talking about Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid Snake for the MSX system that were made to work with the ps2 cd. But yeah i like them. Basicly the same as MGS just no 3d

yea, bash the game... the game is supposed to live up to your standards even though it was probably around before you were <_<

Shagohod - July 24, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
Yea Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake not MGS3 Subsistence I like the 3d camera mode on Subs verison of Snake Eater

Cold_Snowden - July 24, 2006 02:54 AM (GMT)
Metal gear was a bit too difficult without a walkthrough. Because of things like walls that you had no clue blew up with explosives in random places that you needed to find to progress. Good for it's time but can't hold my interest now.

Metal gear 2 solid snake was amazingly like a 2D version of metal gear. It incorporated a lot more stuff and was somewhat fun. Haven't gone very far in it yet.

Stop b*tching.

I grew up on games like that.

Nothing wrong with Metal Gear or Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

Just like in Snake Eater-people had a problem with the overhead camera. I never did. MGS camera is far worse, and I don't hear anyone complaining.

Shagohod - July 24, 2006 03:36 PM (GMT)
Hey I just dont like the camera being over head in games besides i dont hate it its a MG game :thumb:

Soriddo Suneku - July 24, 2006 03:55 PM (GMT)
I don't think this thread belongs here...

(S3)Zyklon B - July 24, 2006 03:58 PM (GMT)
Should he go put it in the MG and MG2 sections? oh wait, we dont have those, only classics here are mgs1... :P not tryin to be an ass, just pointing it out. it was on subsistence though, closest match to a section

micster - July 24, 2006 04:20 PM (GMT)
I unfortunatly found the music annoying and the graphics and ai were laughable

but i do like how i can play the originals

sadistic_greyfox - July 24, 2006 04:25 PM (GMT)
their good enough games, but a little hard if you don't know what your doing. i really don't think the MGS fans had a problem with the camera angles in 1 2 and 3, it's just that shows like xplay and other game reviewers starting b*tching aabout the only thing they could find wrong in a perfectly good game. not to mention the constant b*tching of alot of socom fans. in the end the new camera worked though, but i never had a problem with it.
mg and mg 2 ss camera angles were fine for it's time.

Jiro - July 24, 2006 06:21 PM (GMT)
Micster the music and graphics laughable? They seem pretty good for me. Back then those were the cream of the crop of excellent gameplay. I find them fun and i love the Metal Gear Song because it's what the VR mission song is.

... omg, ok, graphics and ai are deffiantely laughable for todays standards but it seems like you people arent thinking about the fact these games are 20+ years old... ugh

Muikuli - July 24, 2006 06:34 PM (GMT)
And besides, graphics don`t make a good game, even though some idiots think so. Haven`t played MG2 yet cause I don`t have subsistence yet, but I`ve played MG1 ofr a while and it`s better than most of that old games

The graphics were like that due to the fact...wait for it...that it was a MSX game.

Markthecool - July 24, 2006 08:00 PM (GMT)
Also about the game it was diffult to go though it cause I didn't even know what to do I died a bunch of times already and am getting confused after you defeat the tanker Big Boss says steal the eniemes cloths? but how?

micster - July 24, 2006 08:12 PM (GMT)
Duh i know its an MSX game but it does seem odd when you have just played 3d graphics and gone immediately back to 2d oldschooling

well where would you like it to go? the mgs2 section? it would make even less sense then. at least MGS3S has MG and MG2 on the disk, unlike the others. So this is a closest fit for MG and MG2

Well their is Metal gear other <_< but this is the closest too.

Shagohod - July 24, 2006 11:42 PM (GMT)
Mg and MG2 are part of Subsistence without them and dual mode it would just be Snake Eater

[S3]Alt Eisen - July 25, 2006 12:16 AM (GMT)
Incorrect. If we just go with the first disk with out the 3D camera it'd just be Snake Eater. The dual mode, and MG and MG2:SS make up the second disk and are pretty much nice extras to the main purpose of it...the online mode.

I don't see why people have any complaints towards the original MG and MG2:SS. You can't compare their play mechanics, a.i., and graphics to anything to todays standards. They're great games for their time. Unless you know of a game from the same time that did the stealth action drama any better, then be quiet.

Soriddo Suneku - July 25, 2006 12:41 AM (GMT)
I thought that MG and MG2 would go into the Other category myself.

As far as the games go, I have a particular love for MG2.
For it's time, it really is a great game and had alot of features that other games did not come close to for it's era.

I'm still a bit p*ssed that Big Boss doesn't say a word to Snake about being his father though...I always thought he would, due to the comments in MGS.

yea and without the skateboard substance would be mgs2... your point? :haha:

and to any MODS listening.... ***WE COULD DO WITH A MG AND MG2 SECTION***... talk it out... why leave out the 2 games that started this entire wonderful franchise? to me thats just wrong

Soriddo Suneku - July 25, 2006 03:01 AM (GMT)
I strongly concur with that notion.

Shagohod - July 25, 2006 07:54 PM (GMT)
Yea we need a MG and MG2 section

Jiro - July 25, 2006 08:00 PM (GMT)
Ja we need an MG and MG2 Solid Snake forum place.

Markthecool - July 25, 2006 08:29 PM (GMT)

No joke.

I'm a byproduct of the early 80's, and I'm damn proud of the games from that era.
Think about it, for those of us born around that time...

We were the first real "Video Game Generation."
Metal Gear, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid.

Anyone who looks at that and can't see it as a good game, has a too narrow, contemporary view of games.
