Fierce Deity - July 25, 2006 05:30 PM (GMT)
I remembered them from MGS1 on the psx,but I think the first time I played MGS1 I fell down it once.

krypton_ls - July 25, 2006 05:36 PM (GMT)
I remember that well, I think we all did at least once molecular_snake, or maybe in the demo for sure, just to 'check' what they were...... ^_^

Rhino - July 25, 2006 06:15 PM (GMT)
I hate those stupid holes espesily the one after raven. I keep falling down it i feel down 3 times.

La Li Lu Le Lo - July 25, 2006 06:36 PM (GMT)
I fell a few times. I know for a fact that it was less than 5.

That isn't to say that I didn't kill myself a few times by falling in there.

black king - July 25, 2006 07:45 PM (GMT)
thermal googles work on them. but idk why. do trap doors give off heat?

Soriddo Suneku - July 25, 2006 10:05 PM (GMT)
Didn't you know that trapdoors, ropes, traps with spikey logs, snares and mushrooms give off a giant heat signature?! (Sarcasm)

Something could be living down there.

Gurlugon, I tell you.

black king - July 25, 2006 11:10 PM (GMT)
could be a rancor. now where's jabba? :haha:

Soriddo Suneku - July 25, 2006 11:31 PM (GMT)
Could be.

But if that were the case, Solid Snake would just gnaw through the rancor's jugular and use his skull for an ashtray back at the cabin...

Shyne-Bryght - July 26, 2006 09:14 AM (GMT)
Hehe true, maybe theres a lot of rats down there building up a colelctive heat signature :P

black king - July 26, 2006 02:24 PM (GMT)
yeah and they give snake :snake: a bug :haha:

sadistic_greyfox - July 26, 2006 03:14 PM (GMT)
i fell like 2 or 3 times the first time i played, i never expected it, i was sort've surprised they have it in all the mgs games. thought they would have gave it up.

black king - July 26, 2006 05:41 PM (GMT)
a lot of people die. why would they. your just runin and unexpectedly you fall :lmao:

Jiro - July 26, 2006 07:45 PM (GMT)
You talk about falling in ditches! I talk about falling in those spikes on Mega man games. ARG! But thats what games are about. There about falling in that pit and dieing and dieing and dieing till you get it lol.

black king - July 26, 2006 08:04 PM (GMT)
exactly! ti's funny but unexcepted :haha:

NinjaGirl - August 17, 2006 02:34 AM (GMT)
i fell down it like three times...I have played the game like twice. because my brother has the gamecube.lol

solidfox - August 17, 2006 03:53 AM (GMT)
I've fallen on the orginal a few times my first play through. But never on the gamecube, gamecube by then I knew the game and gamecube version is far to easy.

Liquidon Snake - August 27, 2006 09:55 PM (GMT)
The thing about those trapdoors is that you have to predict them (if you don't already know where they are). Straight hallways are definite possible locations for the trapdoors, so RUN. If you stop and hear that pre-opening "click", you're screwed. So, you have to predict them.

But here's what bothers me:
Why the hell don't they get triggered when an enemy walks across 'em?

But my explanation for the thermal indications:
They're closed off completely, with no ventilation and no outlet. Therefore, heat collects within them and doesn't escape. Since they're hollow, heat emanates through the cover tiles as those are the thinnest parts of the shafts.
Makes sense to me.

Morphine Jim - August 27, 2006 10:03 PM (GMT)
The holes after Raven catch me off guard all the bloody time.

SolidSnake52 - September 5, 2006 02:17 PM (GMT)
ummm...... i never played mgs1 before but i did play mgs VR missions so anyway what is in those holes is it a bottomless pit like in mgs VR missions?

Markthecool - September 6, 2006 12:42 AM (GMT)
I used to fell on those holes alot but after playing the game a couple of times I didn't but the last time I played it was by acciendent it was the place where you fight raven and go to the next room I was going to get the ration which was between those 2 trap holes but by acciendent I fell into them and another time was when I was running to not get the card cold when I finally got it hot but then BLAM I fell I was so pissed off and laughed at the same time since I had no game overs so far.

Saladin -Big Boss- Renegade - October 1, 2006 12:04 AM (GMT)
I doubt that anyone hasn't fallen into any of them... I fell through several times.

No-oneSpecial - October 20, 2006 10:54 AM (GMT)
I remember running past it, then thinking "hmmmm" and then I ran into it, because I was so damn tempted :P

LarryTermite - November 14, 2006 05:49 AM (GMT)
As long as you keep running you can't fall down, you can only fall if you stand there and thats not very smart. You don't need thermal goggles to see them anyway because there is a slit between the two openings. Also about the heat signal the trap door is hollow meaning whats below it will be cold or hot therefore explaning the heat signal lol, as for the spikey logs and stuff I just think thats how solid objects look threw the goggles, lol.

Red Queen - November 14, 2006 08:09 AM (GMT)
You know what I usualy do? I pass the hole and when I realise I went trough a hole, and then all of a sudden I want to go back instead of just going foward like there was no hole, and then I fall in.

black king - November 14, 2006 11:35 PM (GMT)

SolidSnake52 - November 14, 2006 11:43 PM (GMT)
thanks black king(i think ;)) the fight with The Sorrow never scared me ever nor it ever gave me any nightmares but thanks for the warning lol

LarryTermite - November 15, 2006 05:39 AM (GMT)
The Sorrow isn't scary, he's animated lol, and if you were gonna be scared just die to him and use revival pill, lol.

AcidSnakeK1 - November 15, 2006 03:35 PM (GMT)
yes, the thermal goggles show the holes for some reason. Even though I dont think they give off heat. I fell down 4 times.

LarryTermite - November 17, 2006 04:18 PM (GMT)
They don't give off heat but they are hollow, your in Alaska, and when you fall down you see a cold mist come out, so my guess is that whatever's under there is cold.
