Title: Dissapointment *possible spoilers*
Description: for me anyway...
Dani - August 11, 2006 08:44 PM (GMT)
I recently saw all the cutscenes from MGS:TTS. I can't believe it has changed so much from the original! I mean, whats up with all the matrix-y stuff? It's not like MGS to copy other things. It certainly doesn't fit either. I understand if you find it cool while playing but watching it dissapointed me. Also the bit where Grey Fox gets dragged across the floor by REX was waay to gory for MGS. Another scene where grey fox chops the cieling into a square and bicycle-kicks it towards snake is also odd. How the hell can a HF blade cut through a damned cieling? And how the hell did he dodge it God knows. The ending really disspointed me the most. Snake not being underneath the Jeep but being free standing just takes away the whole suspense. And its realy retarted how he just stares at liquid, seeing as how he could have been killed. It just isn't like the solid snake I know. One last thing is the voice acting. Naomi's voice changed, and it definately doesn't suit her. It just feels like a whole diferent character to me.
TTS for me just doesn't feel right for a MGS (for me) because its changed so much from the original. The only reason I would really buy it would be to add to my MGS collection or for the better graphics.
- End rant.

I bought the gamecube just for this game and felt the same way you did.
Also hate the new voice of Fox, the way Liquid dies sucks, and they took out the song "Enclosure" which was my favorite.

Which one was that? The one with the lady/opera at the beggining?
solidfox - August 11, 2006 09:36 PM (GMT)
The one they play during Sniper Wolf's death, during Meryls death scene where Snake gets all sad at the end. And when Snake and Naomi are talking via codec at the end, when he tells her Fox gave his life to save the world.
Snake Liquid - August 11, 2006 09:38 PM (GMT)
Just a quick question, do they still have the song encounter when you get seen by the enemy? If not then that would ruin the game for me..
solidfox - August 11, 2006 09:41 PM (GMT)
Honestly I can't recall. I played it through once but I never really payed much attention to that song. I was so turned off throughout the entire game that it made me sick. Spent all that money to be ticked off and disapointed.
Red Queen - August 11, 2006 09:42 PM (GMT)
I understand your disapointment, its fu**ed up because Kojima moved from the original idea of MGS and he wanted to make it look like an action movie, which was realy uncalled for.
But he got over that, with MGS3 series got back its former glory.
Rhino - August 11, 2006 09:47 PM (GMT)
Why do you think it sucks. it is the same things as mgs 2 except for the matrix things the story was the same and the gameplay is better all they did was make better graphics out of it.
solidfox - August 11, 2006 09:49 PM (GMT)
The matrix fighting took your attention away from what MGS stands for. A great plot, the cutscenes like that were laughable. The music was changed, the change of a few character voices were annoying. And most of the voice acting lacked the spark they had in the first one. Kind of like they spoke dully and wanted this project to be over. Graphics doesn't make a game, the plot does for me.

No it wasnt. MGS2 had its moment but Kojima wasnt so over reacting with such stuff in MGS2 as he did in TTS. Only un untrained eye would say those games are the same.
Dani - August 11, 2006 10:05 PM (GMT)
Red Queen: I agree. There were things happening when you didn't expect them to, BIG EXAMPLE all that matrix crap
solidfox - August 11, 2006 10:07 PM (GMT)
I've always figured those that like Twin Snakes more then the orginal are those that played it before the orginal...or just don't have any taste and respect how beautiful the orginal was.
Its kinda like Terminator 2 is the orginal MGS game and Terminator 3 is Twin Snakes.
Or kinda like the Matrix part one compaired to the Matrix part 2 and 3.
Snake Liquid - August 11, 2006 10:45 PM (GMT)
I think the game looks good. Once the Wii comes out, I am going to get a cheap as dirt Gamecube and a TTS and play it..
sadistic_greyfox - August 12, 2006 12:15 AM (GMT)
when i heard gray fox it wasn't the same at all, the orginal voice sounded like he had so much pain and was ready to die. the new one was like... well normal. some of the scenes were good but probably just meant as extras i mean we all know snake isn't the most acrobatic person in the world. i still havent seen the ending for TTS. anyone has a link?
solidfox - August 12, 2006 01:22 AM (GMT)
DON'T! Don't ever watch it...I don't even want to see the title of the link.
Liquid's death is a joke...honestly...its a joke. Its like killing a clown. And Snake and Otacon aren't even stuck under the jeep. In the orginal they looked defensless and like all hope was gone. But this one they weren't. They took out that echoing "fox" "die" part which I loved. This time he falls to the ground like hes dead. Stands straight back up like he is fine, then falls again. By this time it was already the 3rd time I'd shut the game off during the ending scene.
But I always went back to re-watch it and give it another chance...then turned it off again.
sadistic_greyfox - August 12, 2006 01:57 AM (GMT)
in the original i remember them being stuck under a toppled jeep, as liquid aproached witht eh Famas, that was a great ending, but you know just to compare i;d like to see this one.
snake18 - August 12, 2006 03:06 AM (GMT)
Me too just to see if the ending suck to the orignal one.
sadistic_greyfox - August 12, 2006 03:18 AM (GMT)
well here it is, looks like teh ballz, i mean they don't even let you shoot at liquid at the end, and wut the f*ck is up with him getting back up.

Told ya :P I hate it sooooooo much.
snake18 - August 12, 2006 03:32 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the link Sadistic. Mine opinion this version suck badly. Thank goodness i played the PS1 version because if i wanted til the gamecube version i would have thought MGS was too hollywood styled. Orignal to me is golden.
snake18 - August 12, 2006 03:51 AM (GMT)
Also i mean come on the voice acting like you said sucks. I mean i guess they didn't pay some of the orignal act to do they character for this version.
Snake_R.I.P - August 12, 2006 05:25 PM (GMT)
I'm a die-hard TTS fan, and will defend it to the death although i can understand how some fans might find it a dissapointment, the changes of many things, eg voices, cutscenes. I actually prefer Gray Fox's voice in tts than in the original. it sounds how i would imagine a half dead man would sound, raspy and constantly sounded pained. I played the original when it came out (borrowed it off a freind) and thought it was the best thing since, well ever. but nevertheless i still think TTS is an improvement, its an update, i guess its how Kojimas original was supposed to look and play, but due to graphical/time/budget problems we got the mgs we all know and hold in that special place in gaming heaven reserved for Half-Life, Resident Evil, Doom and MGS. Although i do agree that the originals ending was better, only marginally in my mind. and didnt they keep the 'fox', 'die' echo in tts, im sure they did <_< i'll have to play it again. I also liked some of the altered lines, alot of Liquids speechs were better, although taking out ravens 'possesed by a demon in battle' line was a damn travesty. well thats my opinion on this matter, now off to p*ss off some more people! ^_^
Patriot_vamp - August 12, 2006 05:29 PM (GMT)
i also prefer gray fox TTS voice. But i didnt like the fact that the voices of some codec women were badly changed. And the music (for example the hallelujah sound when meryl gets shot) were changed.
solidfox - August 12, 2006 05:40 PM (GMT)
They didn't keep the "Fox" "Die" the same.
Liquid gets this VERY stupid look on his face and ask in a stupid way "Fox?"
Falls to the ground...reaches out of Snake...stands back up...falls again...
Muikuli - August 12, 2006 06:05 PM (GMT)
Ahhrr... That """updated""" ending sucks bad...
Dani - August 12, 2006 07:19 PM (GMT)
The Moral of the story is: Stick to the original.
sadistic_greyfox - August 12, 2006 08:12 PM (GMT)
the original ending was so much better, i mean where is the suspense. when i first played i thought for sure snake meryl were screwed. hopefully when they start making the ps1 games avaibale to DL on the psp, i'll pick it back up. IMO Gray Fox's voice was much better in the orginal that's why i liked him so much. i look at TTS as the Sort've "wut if" version of mgs, i mean with all those acrobatics and everthing.

they're making PS1 games for PSP? sweet!
sadistic_greyfox - August 13, 2006 12:30 AM (GMT)
yep but you'll need to pay lsomething like 1.99-7.99 or something like that, basically you buy one of these sony gift card, go on the net with you psp and dl it (probably have to input the numbers on the card to buy the game) can't wait till then.
Snake Liquid - August 13, 2006 02:27 AM (GMT)
Besides MGA and MGA2 is there any good games for PSP?
solidfox - August 13, 2006 06:32 AM (GMT)
MGS: Digital Graphics Novel, Tekken and street fighter.
Coming out: Earthworm Jim, Crises Core FFVII, and that other MGS game. A lot of MGS games for PSP lol.
PincheGuero - August 22, 2006 01:51 AM (GMT)
I don't remember the original game... :haha: How sad. But I just bought this and it's pretty cool.
solidfox - August 22, 2006 09:49 AM (GMT)
:( it is grieving that you don't remember the orginal. Even sadder is the fact that when I try to view cutscenes online most cutscenes are from twin snake and nobody uploads the scenes from the orignal :(....

So true. Is it beacuse of graphics? Or just beacuse it`s old?
Anyways I must get PSP, so I can buy the original MGS and Portaple ops in to it. :P
solidfox - August 23, 2006 01:22 AM (GMT)
I really don't know why its like that. Probably because of the graphics. But still...wouldn't it just be easier to use the orginal one since it is on the computer as well? The other is gamecube only which should make it harder to copy the cutscenes.
