PC Demo download

This looks amazing, from what I've seen. Kinda like... pseudo-Mercenaries on a massive scale. I read in the Official UK PS2 Mag that the game area is 21 square km (might've been 31... can't remember), and that grappling hook looks fantastic.

Out on September 22nd in Europe and 26th in North America. Anyone else interested?

RossSP - August 25, 2006 06:47 PM (GMT)
Hell yeah, but it's 1025 square kilometres, much bigger. I've been wanting this game since i was announced.

dJdC - August 25, 2006 07:03 PM (GMT)
looks like GTA on speed I like"E"

krypton_ls - August 25, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
I heard about this ages ago, :P and didn't know it would be out this soon!!! :D

Might be worth getting, and is going to be 'like GTA' but much larger from the reviews I have read.

And better download the demo too!

1025?! That is seriously massive. Like... twice the size of the Isle of Man. Wow. :o

Amakou - August 25, 2006 07:57 PM (GMT)
Hope you like WASD though, you can't customize your controls in the demo.

I didn't finish the demo because I couldn't control it...the vehicle controls need to be tightened up...

screenshark15 - August 25, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the link to the demo, I'm downloading now. I hadn't heard about this game until now, I hope it's good since I won't be getting a PS3 for a good while.

ADJ - August 25, 2006 09:21 PM (GMT)
Apparently the PC controls aren't so good. I think I'll skip the demo anyway - I'm on a WLAN and the connection's pants. :P

WLAN eh? Depends how near you are to the router ADJ, or just plug in the good 'ol modem instead!

And what is it with people disliking the WASD controls???

*downloading demo now*

Mealing - August 28, 2006 10:02 AM (GMT)
Anyone know the system requirements for it?

Yackemflaber - August 28, 2006 02:14 PM (GMT)

Those controls kicks moose. ^_^
The first game i used it with was rogue spear, in the begin it's was annoying and i wanted to just use the normals arrow keys, but WASD is just better imo.

micster - August 28, 2006 02:44 PM (GMT)

Yeah, well they said it was bigger than san Andreas, which is 45 sq. Km. So 21 0r 31 wouldn't beat it, but 1025 does push the boundries of the PS2, but the Avalanche engine pulls it of seamlessly thanks to the way it renders landscape, similair to San Andreas only better (supposedly)

ADJ - August 28, 2006 09:30 PM (GMT)
Anyone played it yet? Any thoughts?

Yackemflaber - August 28, 2006 09:35 PM (GMT)
I havent tried it, mainly because the dude who runs Ctrl Alt Del comics said it wasnt actually very good, he said it was fun, but at the game's expense

I almost always am reclining with my feet up on the bunk bed next to my desk, therefore making WASD very hard to use without hurting myself, lol...

Ah yes, CAD. Anyways, as for his mini-review, you need to remember a few things.

a ) It's only a demo
b ) If you have fun, you have fun, it comes in many ways.

krypton_ls - August 29, 2006 07:48 AM (GMT)
Right, so my download of the demo was complted yesterday.

Apart from oodles of publsiher videos and floaty videos, I made it to the main menu.

Got into the demo, and **(SPOILER)** you begin falling from a plane. I played for about 10 minutes and still didn't have a clue what I was doing. So far, I found it hard to get into, but hey - today is a new day. ^_^

Mealing - August 29, 2006 03:25 PM (GMT)
I found the system requirements if anyone's bothered..

Windows 2000/XP
1.7GHz CPU
512MB RAM
64MB supported video card

Mine doesn't quite meet the requirements :(

Ocelot11 - August 29, 2006 04:08 PM (GMT)
Ill just get it for PS3 when i get one

ADJ - August 29, 2006 06:36 PM (GMT)
As far as I know, it isn't coming out for PS3. You could get a PS2 version and play it on the PS3...

Or get the PC version, which looks pretty damn amazing on my machine, although the controls are tricky for my liking.... ^_^

Hopefully I'll get into it soon though!

Leestephens - August 30, 2006 10:38 AM (GMT)
Downloading the demo now, I'll probably get this on PS2 either way because my PC can't handle more than one game without completely melting. :P

PSM2 thinks this game is gonna be bigger than GTA, too.

Yackemflaber - August 30, 2006 03:10 PM (GMT)
I would try the demo if I werent playing FEAR Combat so much. (lags up the game)
anyone got anything to say about the demo (aside from CTRL+ALT+DEL creator saying it wasnt that great)?
Someone please remind me again how to find my system specs
EDIT: The setup didnt even start for me, I may have to try downloading it again

Solitude Snake - August 30, 2006 06:53 PM (GMT)
How's the demo, is it worth downloading?

yeah, but only if your computer can handle it
I had all the settings on low, and the framerate still absolutely sucked. I played through about half of the demo (because it was still fun, nonetheless) before I decided I couldnt take it anymore. I just uninstalled it

that's weird. Why would it be coming out for the 360 and PS2 but not PS3? Unless they need more time like on Smackdown vs Raw 2007

ADJ - August 30, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
Well, it's out in September, and the PS3 isn't out until November, so...

Ocelot11 - August 30, 2006 09:25 PM (GMT)
it might be one of the launching titles for the PS3

Hells yeh! :)

Looks frickin' sweet on my machine!

For the sake of the rest of you, I hope it lauches with the PS3. ;)

yea in a type of pack

Solidus - September 10, 2006 10:46 AM (GMT)
I went round my mates Friday and he has the demo on his 360. We must of been up all night playing it. I couldnt get enough of it, it was bloody incredible! Especially adding your own music to the game. Like the Speed theme for example and jumping off cliffs and parachuting. Amazing. Must of been up until 4AM Sat morning playing it. Then played it Saturday again.

I find it a hard game to get into, but I'll try again soon! ^_^

It's probably as good on my PC as the 360.....do you have a 360 Sol?

Solidus - September 10, 2006 11:03 AM (GMT)
No, I dont. But I wouldnt mind one now. :P

All we did was killed the guy at the start then went free roaming. When the sun started to set, re-load from checkpoint and play again. :D

RossSP - September 10, 2006 01:46 PM (GMT)
I was playin it my friends house on Saturday as well , and I agree with Sol, it freakin rools. I can't wait till it comes out now...... :killer:

ADJ - September 10, 2006 08:16 PM (GMT)
Read a review in the Official PS2 Mag (got an 8/10), and their main criticism is the length of the game. Less than twenty missions (was it?) and the extra ones are repetitive. :/

RossSP - September 11, 2006 06:12 PM (GMT)
Meh, so what, with the sheer size of the play area, most folk won't bother with the missions that much, still 8/10 ain't bad is it?

RossSP - October 1, 2006 11:58 AM (GMT)
Got this game on Thursday. It is HUGE. My total playing time is about 17 hours (sad huh?) and you're lucky if I've explored one third of the island.

I got it, complete it, all 21 story missions, 214 side missions, 9races, collection missions Etc, there are so many to do, I done them all, the game is awsome, sky diving and base jumping is awsome, but the best thing about it is that, there aint no loading screens when crossing Islands.
