I’m afraid so! Special Missions will only work if you have a copy of MGS1. <_<
It’s a pretty stupid idea if you ask me but I guess it got more copies of MGS1 sold.
Hmm… I don’t remember being able to get stealth on Special Missions (unless you’re playing as the Cyborg Ninja). Snake can’t get stealth in the game because that just takes away the whole purpose of the VR Missions (that is learning to sneak better, avoiding detection).
As for the Cyborg Ninja just finish everything else on the disk (it can get pretty boring and annoying) and by doing so you’ll be rewarded the Ninja Missions.
I have to admit playing as the Ninja is the best bit of Special Missions however there are only three small missions.
Also if you’re planing on playing Special Missions on a Playstation 2 don’t expect it to work. Only a few PS2’s can play Special Missions. <_<
Enjoy! :thumb:

I thought more missions would have been good...but it was fun, I'm kind of stuck with Special Missions at the part trying to get the guard to follow me all the way on the last puzzle mission, but i guess I just need patience to do it.
I got MGS SM along with MGS in this nice double pack in GAME many years ago

If by Metal Gear Solid Special missons you mean VR missions then you dont need MGS to play it. If not I cant help you.

yep exactly as Tamashi said you need MGS1 in order to play MGS:Special missions. Unless you have MGS:VR missions you dont need MGS1 to play it.

It does not work with Playstation emulators either...

Always wondered why it stopped working on PS2 after a while...lol. And Ninja was so fun, I sat down just recently and played them again like 10 times over. And you don't particuly need MGS to play Special Missions. I tried to trick my playstation (although I do have MGS) and I put in another Konami game (Silent Hill) and what do you know, lol, it worked.

You know, if you dont want to play those VR missions and skip to Ninja, just use a codebreaker, and as soon as you can, save it before it freezes.
