Actually, shouldn't this be moved to digital art?

I always notice that you're good in cleaning rendered pictuers but still you always make it feel messed up a bit ... cleaning is very annoying to me specially if the angle of the pictuer make it hard to clean ... but if you can figuer out a way to turn the pictuer into two general colors let us say red and blue for example ... you can use the magicwand tool in photoshop to select the precise position from the one color that you want even if it have different degrees of the same color you can lower the sensitivity number that the tool has to include the whole color area with it's differences in degrees ... then save the selected area (the blue is solid snake for example) then turn the pictuer back to the way it was before the two colors ... bring back the selected area that you already saved ... after you apply it cut it or copy it ... it will look very smooth and clean though it doesn't always work but sometime it does ... sorry if it's a little complicated I just felt like bringing the idea into light.

What do you mean I make it feel messed up?

And the bit about seperating zones into red and blue, you need seperate layers to do this, and can only achieve this by first cutting out the bit you want, plus I find by I can get a much better cut by erase brushing than magic wand, magic wand is a little rough aroudn the edges, and I prefer brushing.

that sig is awesome! Only if i still had photshop :(

Awesome, but I don't do rendering much anymore. Usually, I'll download a PSD of a picture that's been cut out.

Could you copy the layer with the Snake render and put it into a new PSD and post it here, so I could paste it right onto a sig? Thanks. :D

Usually in profile shots, like the official character design of a game, the magic wand seems to cut perfectly around the edges. therefore, making eraser brushing much easier. But still, I agree....eraser brushing is alot easier. especially if you're equipped with a tablet :P

Well, the link I posted has the image wiht a white background, which will easily magic wand away and keep the render flawless. I don't think you can post PSDs here can you?

so noone uses the lasso tools? i get a far better and less jaggy cut with that tool. all my renders that i have made for sigs and my current have all been cut with the lasso tools, there alot more accurate. after i do that i enrich the color level.

JCC - September 24, 2006 07:27 PM (GMT)
I've tried using the Polygonal Lasso Tool, it works to a certain extent but then I use a three pixel brush to get rid of bits around the edges. There's not really a way to render that's better than all the others, it's a matter of which method you're good at.

I'm best with brushes, cause I can do curves and round bits off a lot better with it, and they leave a semi transparent area which blends nice.

thats pretty damn good. im gonna try to make a sig with that pic. lol
