Title: Metal Gear Thunder: The End of Eden
Description: A Fan-Game Script
ThunderBoss - November 26, 2006 07:24 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone, this is my fanfic Metal Gear Thunder: The End of Eden
This fanfic will be a fan game script, meaning it’s a script -a genuine format script, not the pseudoscript crap you all may be used to seeing- of all the essential cutscenes of the game. Text in Brackets will briefly describe gameplay time. I’m writing this as if I, or you, were actually playing the game itself.
A little about the story.
This takes place after MGS5, and I’m going to make a few assumptions as to what happens in it.
1: Olga’s child is Found.
2: The Patriots are either destroyed or exposed to the public.
3: Solid Snake is now dead. Though it’s said this won’t happen in the game, I’m guessing he dies shortly after due to his accelerated aging.
Now this might anger some of you, but the main character is Raiden… However, this will be a far different Raiden than you remember. He’s just as tough physically and skill wise, but he’s no longer whiney or naïve. He’ll be quiet, brief and to the point, although I’m also trying to show that he’s developed serious anger issues.
Please respond to this and tell me what you think of it.
Here it is…

OPENING QUOTE
They (humans) can see and study the entire universe, but they still think they are the center of everything, that their planet is the reason the universe exists. ... Some never mature beyond expecting a deity, or a government, or nature herself, to satisfy their craving for transformation. ... They believe they are super-beings, or are mystically connected to a super-being, so everything is simultaneously temporary and unsatisfactory, to be someday replaced by fame, justice, immortality, or something called "true love." ... They think nature exists for them, designed to meet their needs, not that they are part of nature ... They can't understand why nature won't meet their most trivial needs, and they are possessed by dissatisfaction. ... humans have only recently acquired intellectual skills, therefore those skills are in a dangerous, immature form. ... [Humans] have Godlike thinking powers grafted onto animal personalities. They have the ability to destroy themselves through badly formed ideas, but no ability to curb their passions. ... Humans study the geological record of species that have been transformed to meet new requirements, but they don't realize they are themselves in the midst of such a transformation.

RAIDEN [V.O.]
It’s over.
It’s all finally over.
The Patriots… are gone.
It’s all still hard to believe.
An illuminati unaware of its own existence. A grand conspiracy with no conspirators, it lived only in the subtleties of paperwork. Not even its active enforcers knew, for they had no idea what it was they were enforcing.
It was all perfectly designed so that not a single human being on earth would know that there was anything out of the ordinary. But the AI’s knew. They knew, and they became the arbiters of the grand scheme. But to this day it was only the AI’s who knew exactly what that grand scheme was.
But now it’s all gone, and true freedom has at last been won. But at what price?
The sudden realization of the secret process running all US politics has thrown the nation into a second depression. From depression rose revolution. The United States government is now split into two factions, the Partisans, who want to revise the current system of government to eliminate the Patriot’s secret process, and the Abrogators, who wish to abolish the current government and start again from scratch.
And the New Foxhound has now been reduced to a task force meant to keep a semblance of stability among it all.
The one thing that both the Partisans and the Abrogators agree on is that when a Patriot AI is found, it must be destroyed.
The view is from the corner of the ceiling of a tiny bedroom. The walls and ceilings are flat, without drywall texture, and painted pure white. The carpet is a dull gray. The only thing inside the bedroom is a full sized bed on an undecorated anodized steel frame. The bed is plain white, with a white sheet, a single white pillow, and a white blanket. The bed has no headboard or footboard and is entirely undecorated. It is made to perfection.
There is nothing else in the bedroom… except a man.
Raiden lays down flat on the bed. He wears a buttonless long sleave shirt, slacks, and sneakers, all in a shade of gray identical to the carpet. The closet, with plain wooden sliding doors painted the same gray, is left open. The closet is filled with nothing but so many outfits identical to the one Raiden wears, gray long sleave shirts, slacks, and sneakers.
Raiden’s bedroom was a grand testament to the monotonous.
A knock is heard at the door.
Raiden does not blink or twitch.
The door opens slowly.
Raiden does not blink or twitch.
The knob to the door turns. The door opens. Another man stands in the doorway. He is very slender of build and face is long and narrow. His deep brown hair and five o’clock shadow seem to contrast his glasses. His clothing equally contrasts itself. He wears a white lab coat over casual blue jeans and a black t-shirt with a stylized logo of some Canadian alternative rock band.
The man stands with his arms folded. For a moment, he unfolds his arms to adjust his glasses with his thumb.
RAIDEN
How’d you know I’d let you open the door Hal?
OTACON
You didn’t scream at me when I knocked.
Otacon unfolds his arms and places them in his lab coat pockets. He puts one foot into Raiden’s room.
RAIDEN
I never said I’d let you inside, just that I let you open the door.
Otacon quickly pulls his feet back out of the doorway into the hall.
RAIDEN
What’s the sitch?
OTANON
What makes you think there is one?
RAIDEN
The fact that you opened my door.
OTACON
Right…
Well, nothing new, just another Patriot AI at an abandoned air force base on some small south pacific island named Preteritus Deleo.
RAIDEN
And once again I’m called on to be the tampon of the partisans.
OTACOM
Hmm…
Well, would you rather be the tampon of the Partizans or the tampon of the Abrogators?
RAIDEN
…
Good point.
Sounds like fun.
OTACON
Fun huh… well that’s the problem.
RAIDEN
Hmm?
OTACON
This mission won’t be as easy as the last few.
RAIDEN
The AI knows we’re coming?
OTACON
And it’s protecting itself.
Do you remember what happened to Liquid Ocelot’s Outer Heaven after his death?
RAIDEN
All of Ocelot’s PMCs (Private Military Contractors) collapsed after that.
Most of their arms they had to sell on the black market.
OTACON
The UN really loved that.
Do you remember what happened to the mercenaries after that?
RAIDEN
Well, most of them went back to their respective watering holes.
As I remember, some of them got together to form their own new PMC free from Outer Heaven’s control. They were mostly former soviet soldiers… and the remnants of the genome army. They called it the “Sasaki Inc.”
But they’re tiny compared to any of Ocelot’s former companies. There’s barely more than thirty five hundred of them total.
… They’re there aren’t they
OTACON
About four hundred of them.
RAIDEN
What are they being paid with?
OTACON
You said after the collapse of the New Outer Heaven, most of their arms were sold on the black market?
RAIDEN
Yeah.
OTACON
Well, a single party bought almost thirty percent of those arms.
RAIDEN
I remember that.
It was an anonymous buyer paying with gold stolen from the stockpile at the New York Federal Reserve Bank.
OTACON
The largest stockpile in the world.
RAIDEN
The EU (European Union) was royally pissed about that, since they own most of that Gold.
They all said the US did it behind their backs, so they tariffed all the US exports just to spite us.
OTACON
Driving the US further in the new depression.
RAIDEN
It was the AI’s wasn’t it?
I mean, that stole the gold.
OTACON
Well, the evidence is only circumstantial, but it would appear so, since the Sasaki company’s being paid with those very arms.
RAIDEN
Paying them with their own former weapons. It’s ingenious.
If it was the AI, than in a way the EU was right, it was the US that did that.
…
So tell me about the op. (operation)
OTACON
Well, the island’s got pretty good radar, so we’ve developed a new type of delivery system.
Your going to be transported inside the chassis of a torpedo attached to a stealth fighter. Well be doing a low flyby and drop the torpedo into the ocean where it’ll take you the rest of the way underwater.
RAIDEN
Sounds like even more fun.
OTACON
Our intelligence says that a representative from the party giving them their arms will be arriving there in two days. We’ve timed the mission to coincide with the meeting. You’ll need to take video and audio of the rep.
RAIDEN
What kind of resistance should I expect?
OTACON
There are sparse manned patrols along the shores of the island. Most of the shore is guarded by MG [Metal Gear] Gekkos, the few that still remain in their control that is. There’s somewhere between four and six of them total. The Geckos scan the shoreline with their active EM sensors, reducing the need for human patrols to a minimum. Most of the manned forces are in and around the air force base. They’ve got ciphers, dogs, and automatic sentries. They didn’t bring any tanks or choppers.
RAIDEN
Gravy…
I’ll get ready. You get the hell away from my room.
BigK - November 26, 2006 07:30 PM (GMT)
That was really good. But one thing I'm confused about, where are Raiden and Otacon? At Raiden's house or what?
ThunderBoss - November 27, 2006 12:07 AM (GMT)
The room was meant to be ambiguous. You weren't supposed to know where it was, only that Raiden lives there.
And the AI at the island Preteritus Deleo hasn't been in contact with either character. They found out about it through investigation.
Onto the script!
A storm rages over the ocean. Rain pours at seventy degree angles into constantly shifting swells and drops in the ocean almost totally covered with foam. Lightning flashes in the background every dozen or so seconds. Rolling dark gray clouds obscure the entire sky.
Roaring is heard in the distance. It gets louder.
An F-35 Lightning II Stealth Fighter soars across the sky, from the point of view into the horizon. The fighter jet flies less than fifty feet above the highest swells, kicking up water in its wake.
View is of the side fighter jet as it flies. The jet rattles and shakes in the harsh storm.
An odd looking torpedo is carried on the wing of the fighter jet. It appears to have the engine of a standard torpedo, but its chassis has been replaced with something resembling a highly streamlined, stealth black submarine escape pod. The pod rattles and shakes even worse than the fighter jet.
Holding R1 will switch to Raiden’s POV from inside the chassis of the modified torpedo.
The walls vibrate and reverberate. The view shakes violently. There is a slight green tint to the light.
Looking down will reveal Raiden to be wearing a tight fitting segmented suit of a midnight blue soft polymer.
Looking down and to the left reveals a small air tank nestled in Raiden’s left arm with a hose extending to his view.
Looking down an to the right reveals several green glow sticks rattling and bouncing about between the floor and Raiden’s right arm.
OTACON [Over Codec]
Alright Boss,
RAIDEN / BOSS? [Voice affected by the vibrating chassis]
Don’t call me that.
OTACON [Over Codec]
I know how you feel about that name okay, but I’m just following procedure.
I’m calling you Boss from now on. It’s just a bureaucratic thing, don’t let it get to you.
RAIDEN / BOSS
...
Just get on with it.
OTACON [Over Codec]
Right well, the transportation you’re in uses the engines of a Mark 48 ADCAP [Advanced Capability] torpedo attached to a custom chassis designed to support you specifically. We really got lucky this time. In this storm the Island’s radar isn’t that good, it only scans out to twenty six knots. At that distance, the torpedo is going to be dropped into the ocean where it will carry you the rest of the way to the island.
RAIDEN / BOSS
What was the island called again?
OTACON [Over Codec]
It’s called Preteritus Deleo. It’s Latin meaning “Past Erased”.
RAIDEN / BOSS
What’s the significance?
OTACON [Over Codec, with static]
I’m not sure.
RAIDEN / BOSS
I’m getting some interference with the signal.
OTACON [Over Codec, with static]
Everything’s clear on my end, it’s probably the turbulence then.
Call me back when you reach shore.
Otacon out.
END CODEC SIGNAL
The fighter jet zooms past from the point of view into the horizon.
The silhouette of an island is seen in the distance.
View is of the rear of the fighter jet. The jet drops the modified torpedo from its wing and makes sharp turn away from the path to the island.
The torpedo crashes into the water.
View of underwater. The torpedo’s engines activate and it speeds off underwater toward the island. As the torpedo shoots through the water, it slaps against various seaweeds, dislodging them and dragging them along.
After a few minutes, the torpedo rises to just below sea level. From above you can see its silhouette racing through the water.
The torpedo crashes into a sandy bank, plowing through the sand over twenty meters before finally stopping. After it has stopped, a trail of plowed sand can be seen running up the bank almost to the edge of the shoreline. Where it stops, the sand piles into a large, dune-like mound. The rain dumps onto the sand which will eventually pound both the plowed line and the mound flat.
A minute passes and nothing happens.
The mound of sand begins to lift up. A hatch emerges as the sand pours off. A figure climbs out of the mound.
The figure wears a suit similar to Old Snake’s Octo-Camo suit. The differences are that it has a slightly different segmentation design, is midnight blue in its default color, and has a split toe design such as that of the Japanese Tabi Boot. The figure wears a fully enclosed black gas masked hooked by a hose to a sall air tank.
The figure stands up and pulls off the gas mask, dropping it to the ground. The face beneath is that of Raiden.
RAIDEN aka THUNDER BOSS
(QUINTON FLYNN)
Now seen up close for the first time, Raiden’s face is noticeably different from how he was seen in the Big Shell incident. He is noticeably older, though just barely. His hair, while still long, is now worn in braided locks. On his face he wears Chinese style chin soulpatch and Fu Man Chu, minus the moustache. On his head he wears a tight fitting visor with retractable electronic binoculars. It is the only holdover from his Actuator suit he wore during the incident with Liquid Ocelot’s Outer Heaven.
The binoculars wrap around Raiden’s eyes. He glances around the beach through his binoculars, displays of orientation, geography, and information on targeted items appears beamed into his retinas through lasers. He zooms in and out while scanning the beach.
It is about a mile long. It is dotted with logs, tiny ponds, palm trees, and dunes. The end of the beach is a sheer cliff. Standing atop the cliff is a single Metal Gear Gekko overlooking the beach, though currently staring at the opposite end from Raiden’s position. At that end of the beach, a trail leads up to the cliff. Atop the cliff is covered with grass, tropical trees and small shrubs.
Raiden spots an old log over a pit in the dirt. His binoculars retract. He quickly dashes for the log and dives into the pit bellow it. He wriggles his arms and legs, burying all but one of them in the wet sand beneath the log. With his free hand, he puts his finger to his ear.
CODEC BEEP
RAIDEN
I’m at the shore Otacon.
There’s a single Gekko overlooking the beach and no soldiers patrolling.
I’ve buried myself in the sand under a log. That should be enough to block out the Gekko’s sensors for the time being.
OTACON [Over Codec]
Are you reading me clear?
RAIDEN
As crystal.
OTACON [Over Codec]
Good then, it was just the turbulence.
Now I’ll fill you in a little more on your mission.
From what we can tell, the AI here on Preteritus Deleo goes by the name of FDR. It’s server is held in a bunker bellow the old air force base. Your mission is to-
RAIDEN [Interrupting]
Get into the bunker, find the server, and wipe it out with a mobile EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) generator, just like all the other times.
OTACON [Over Codec]
…
How the hell many times to I have to remind you that you’re working with official channels now?
You have to respect standard procedure and not interrupt me because this is going to be reported to the public.
RAIDEN
The only thing the public gives a damn about is that we did our job.
OTACON [Over Codec]
Just bare with me okay?
RAIDEN
…
So who’s my support team?
OTACON
The CO is someone I believe you’re familiar with.
Codec signal changes to a familiar face.
FAMILIAR FACE [Over Codec]
Lovely weather isn’t it Thunder Boss.
RAIDEN / THUNDER BOSS
Col. Campbell?
FAMILIAR FACE / COL. CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
That’s general Campbell now.
RAIDEN / THUNDER BOSS
General?
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
Four star.
RAIDEN
They made you an O-10 and yet you’re still stuck commanding solo missions.
Washington must be seriously desperate for public figures.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
I suppose so.
Anyway, I’m here to give you your mission parameters, and to give you strategic advice.
My time is your time, so you won’t be able to waste my time.
Codec signal changes to Otacon.
OTACON [Over Codec]
I would also like to introduce you to a very special friend of mine.
Thunder Boss, meet Emma.
Codec signal changes to the likeness of Emma Emmerich.
LIKENESS OF EMMA EMMERICH [Over Codec]
Good evening to you Thunder Boss. I am greatly pleased to meet you.
My name is Emma.
RAIDEN / THUNDER BOSS
… The hell?
Codec signal changes to Otacon.
OTACON [Over Codec]
Emma is an AI designed by a collaboration between US, Canadian, and Japanese scientists.
RAIDEN
The only other countries still willing to lend us a helping hand.
OTACON [Over Codec]
I believe you will find Emma to be far more hospitable than the AIs you’re used to dealing with.
Codec signal changes to Emma
EMMA [Over Codec]
My databases are at your disposal.
Codec signal changes to Otacon
OTACON [Over Codec]
She’s a piece of work isn’t she?
RAIDEN
What’s with the likeness?
OTACON [Over Codec]
That was my work.
RAIDEN
You have serious problems you need to work out Otacon. I mean serious problem.
OTACON [Over Codec]
Hey! My problems are none of your god damn business Jack! Just do your mission!
RAIDEN
Case in point.
Codec signal changes to Emma.
EMMA [Over Codec]
Please stop fighting!
RAIDEN
…?
EMMA [Over Codec]
I most dislike it.
RAIDEN
O…kay.
Tell me, was it you who found out about FDR?
EMMA [Over Codec]
It was I who discovered the Patriot AI inhabiting this island.
Unfortunately, I was unable to stop it from tracing my activities within its server.
I am so terribly sorry.
RAIDEN
That’s how it knew we were coming.
It’s pretty weird, a Patriot AI displaying a sense of self preservation.
EMMA [Over Codec]
It is not in line with what we know of them.
Codec signal changes to General Campbell.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
We noticed that as well. We can only conclude that it means FDR is trying to protect something, to keep us from finding out something.
This goes into your second mission parameter.
RAIDEN
Hmm?
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
The AI has barricaded itself from all outside signals. It doesn’t want us finding out what it knows. But there is a way to pierce through its barricade and scan its files.
Before you dispose of the AI, you need to install a device that will allow us to take a back door into its mainframe.
RAIDEN
How so?
Codec signal changes to Otacon.
OTACON [Over Codec]
Among your equipment is a nano-enhanced modem and router based on the Codec design.
If you can find the mainframe of the AI, and plug the modem into it, and Emma-
Codec signal changes to Emma.
EMMA [Over Codec]
That would be me.
Codec signal changes to Otacon.
OTACON [Over Codec]
Right… Emma will be able to remote link with the modem, and access the AI’s mainframe through it.
That reminds me, let’s go over your equipment.
Emma?
Codec signal changes to Emma
EMMA [Over Codec]
Thank you Otacon.
I will now explain the nature and functions of your equipment Thunder Boss.
RAIDEN [Whispering]
… Hate that name.
EMMA [Over Codec]
Your sidearm is the Heckler and Koch P30, nine millimeter pistol. I have designed modifications the pistol to allow it to fire tranquilizer rounds. Otacon made the necessary modifications based on my designs.
Codec signal changes to Otacon.
OTACON [Over Codec]
Her specs were absolutely brilliant. She even managed to get the gun to keep its semi-auto function!
Codec signal changes to Otacon.
EMMA [Over Codec]
Thank you Otacon.
Your P30 of course comes equipped with laser sights, and a suppressor.
Next is your combat knife. It is the air force survival knife manufactured by Ontario Knife Company.
RAIDEN
Neither of these things are exactly standard issue.
EMMA [Over Codec]
The often unusual nature of missions of New Foxhound equally often requires unconventional equipment.
RAIDEN
Never mind. Just get on with it.
EMMA [Over Codec]
I would be happy to.
The most important piece of equipment on any mission is the soldier’s suit. And your suit is one of the very best. Yours is what we like to call the Pseudo-Organic Cuttle Camo Compression Suit, or POCCC Suit. Its basic design is modeled after the OctoCamo suit worn by Solid Snake during his venture into the hostilities of Liquid Ocelot’s Outer Heaven.
RAIDEN
You sound like a brochure.
EMMA [Over Codec]
Why thank you.
RAIDEN
... Huh.
EMMA [Over Codec]
But the POCCC Suit is superior in several ways. Nanos in your bloodstream give a constant readout of your vitals to the suit. When they sense injury, the suit, mimicking the healing abilities of a living organism, will extend carbon nanotubes into your flesh to remove foreign bodies, and suture skin, muscles, and even blood vessels. A layer of carbon nanotubes within the suit also acts as body armor, greatly reducing the damage you take from both ballistics and melee weapons.
The most impressive feature of the POCCC Suit, is the CuttleCamo.
RAIDEN
Like OctoCamo right? Only cuttlefish instead of octopus?
EMMA [Over Codec]
That is correct. The CuttleCamo chromatophores are less than half the size of the old OctoCamo chromatophores, and come in a wider variety of colors. As well, CuttleCamo does not use up energy as OctoCamo does. But this feature comes with a drawback. CuttleCamo cannot automatically adjust to its surroundings, so to compensate for that, we have included twenty four preprogrammed camouflage patterns for you to choose from.
RAIDEN
I’m guessing I have to switch between them manually?
EMMA [Over Codec]
That is also correct. Holding the L2 button brings up the complete list of camouflage patterns for you to choose from.
RAIDEN
Why can’t I just use my old Actuator Suit?
Codec signal changes to General Campbell.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
We… don’t have it anymore.
RAIDEN
What do you mean you don’t have it?
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
We had to sell it… to the EU.
RAIDEN
You hawked my actuator suit!?
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
We were being offered forty million Euros for it!
In case you haven’t noticed, the US dollar isn’t worth much anymore, and we have to fund this mission somehow.
RAIDEN
Please don’t tell me you sold my frequency swords.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
That was part of the deal. The EU got the swords along with the actuator suit.
They gave us the POCCC Suit for free as the part of the deal.
RAIDEN
Urrgghh…
Codec signal changes to Emma.
EMMA [Over Codec]
Do not be upset Thunder Boss. The POCCC Suit is a truly wondrous piece of technology.
RAIDEN
Don’t lecture me.
EMMA [Over Codec]
As you wish.
Next in your equipment is… I am detecting unauthorized contraband on your person!
Codec signal changes to General Campbell.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
Why the hell are you carrying a dental mirror?
RAIDEN
So I can shoot backwards from behind cover.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
What?
RAIDEN
I taught myself that trick about a year ago. I hide behind a barricade and use the mirror to see passed it. Then I hold a gun backwards pulling the trigger with my thumb, using the mirror to guide me.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
You can do that?
Wait! How’d you smuggle that thing anyway?
RAIDEN
In my stomach.
Codec signal changes to Otacon.
OTACON [Over Codec]
Snake was a bad influence on you.
I guess you can continue Emma.
Codec signal changes to Emma
EMMA [Over Codec]
Gladly.
Your next piece of equipment is your electronic goggles.
RAIDEN
The only part of my old suit I still have.
EMMA [Over Codec]
Your binoculars are an amalgam different devices. One function is as binoculars with a five times zoom capacity and optional light amplification. Sensors within the binoculars will be ale to tell you allot about simple objects such as items, computer terminals, and electronic doors at a distance. Another function is as a sensor device. The goggles have enhanced soliton radar capable of detecting walls and an anti personnel sensor built into the visor. Finally, the third function of the goggles is as a recording device. Built into the goggles is a digital camcorder with laser telemicrophone. Anything you record with your camcorder is instantly saved into my databases. This is how you will record the identity of Sasaki Inc’s benefactor.
RAIDEN
Yeah, I already knew all that.
EMMA [Over Codec]
I understand you are trained and certified in the art of Close Quarters Combat.
RAIDEN
I’m no grand master, but I’m certainly better than almost any drill instructor you can ever find.
EMMA [Over Codec]
In addition to your knife, you have other devices that can be utilized for CQC.
The first is your canteen and hand towel.
RAIDEN
Yeah, I was kind of wondering about those.
EMMA [Over Codec]
The canteen is filled with Diethyl Ether. The hand towel soaked in the solution can knock out an opponent in seconds when pressed against their nose.
Next, you have a small can of bear repellent grade mace. Spraying an enemy in the face can cause them extreme pain and disorientation, inhibiting their ability to function in combat. But beware, some enemies may have a high pain threshold, allowing them to function in battle even after being sprayed.
The best use of mace is against attack dogs, as it temporarily destroys their ability to smell.
RAIDEN
I’ll keep that in mind.
EMMA [Over Codec]
Finally, we come to the mission specific equipment.
First is the nano enhanced modem and router that will allow me access to the mainframe of the Patriot AI, FDR. I will instruct you on how to use it once you arrive at the mainframe.
The second is the mobile EMP generator, emitting an electromagnetic pulse disrupting anything with an electronic circuit. It operates on a simple timer set by you. But be weary, you can only use it once, after that its circuits will fuse. You must also be well out of range of the device when it activates or else your suit and goggles will permanently cease functioning.
Codec signal changes to General Campbell.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
That does it for your gadgets… remind me to discipline you later for that mirror.
Your mission objectives are as follows.
You are to penetrate the air force base of Preteritus Deleo, discover the location of the AI’s mainframe, and destroy it with the EMP device.
You will take full audio and video recordings of the benefactor set to arrive here for us to identify. You are not to confront the benefactor, and if possible, you are to remain undetected by him.
Most important, before you destroy the AI, you have to plug in that modem and wait for Emma to find out just what is that thing’s trying to hide from us.
If you need any more information on mission parameters or on the island itself, you can contact me at Codec frequency 140.85.
Codec signal changes to Emma.
EMMA [Over Codec]
If you wish for me to explain the functions of any additional devices you may commandeer during your mission, you may contact me at Codec frequency 141.52.
If you would like for me to save your progress, I am also available at Codec frequency 140.96.
Codec signal changes to Otacon.
OTACON [Over Codec]
You need anything from me I’m at 141.12.
RAIDEN
All the usual channels huh.
Codec signal changes to General Campbell.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
It would certainly seem so.
Codec signal changes to Emma.
EMMA [Over Codec]
I wish you the best of luck during your mission.
END CODEC SIGNAL

I see, well this next chapter was certainly great. It really does give Raiden a much better personality then in SOL. Keep it up, bud. :thumb:
DLS06 - November 27, 2006 06:33 PM (GMT)
Dude you got hella talent. You should try and get this approved by Kojima so you can get it published.
ThunderBoss - November 28, 2006 10:12 PM (GMT)
What I really want to know is what you all think of the opening quote by Paul Lutus, and how you think it might relate to the story.
BigK - November 28, 2006 10:31 PM (GMT)
I think it relates to how we as the human race, consider ourselves to be the center of the entire universe. That we are above all else, and that there is nothing above and beyond us, like a God, or a spectator. How this could relate to the story is possibly that the Patriots have something to do with the situation, and that we are merely continuing this selfish pattern, while they bide their time. Merely waiting for us to destroy ourselves. I think that you using that quote was pretty unique, and will fit into play in your script very well. I look forward to reading further into your story bud. Keep it up. :thumb:
ThunderBoss - December 3, 2006 06:13 AM (GMT)
You're going to meet a very important character in this update.
Now onto the script.
[Raiden digs his way out of the sand and crawls out from beneath the log. Looking around, he finds a single jet black cypher hovering slowly around the beach, scanning the area with a wide beam laser. Atop the cliff the Gekko still appears to be looking in the opposite direction. Raiden changes to the appropriate camo pattern and runs down the beach in the pouring rain. Logs, palm trees, boulders, and puddles all proved cover from both the scanning beam of the cypher and the overall scan of the Gekko atop the cliff.
Raiden reaches the trail at the end of the beach. It is muddy surrounded by short cliffs. Grasses and small shrubs line the sides of the trail while the center is mud. There are no cyphers in the trail, thought there is the occasional guard dog. Raiden easily dispatches the guard dogs by spraying them with mace, followed by a kick to the head.
Raiden reaches the top of the trail which opens into the top of the cliff. In front of him are grasses and shrubs, to one side is the cliff while to the other are tropical trees. There are more cyphers hovering about the top of the cliff. Raiden must hide behind obstacles to avoid them detecting him. Eventually he reaches the Gekko. Though he tries to be silent, the noise of his crawling alerts it, and it turns toward the trees to investigate. No camouflage will fool the sensors of the Gekko, so Raiden must hide behind trees to shield himself from the scans. The Gekko walks into the perimeter of the threes and looks around. Raiden must quickly dash from cover to cover to avoid being seen. Eventually the Gekko looses interest and goes back to scanning the beach and Raiden can continue past. Raiden reaches the end of the cliff and sees another trail leading up a small mountain in the center of the island. Halfway through the trail, a small collection of plain, square, concrete buildings can be seen.]
Raiden, holding out his knife and pistol, looks into the distance.
His electronic binoculars slide over his eyes and he drops to the ground and lays on his stomach surrounded by tall grass.
Raiden looks down at his left hand, a tiny control terminal is on the back of his hand. He presses a few buttons and his POCC suit camo changes to a green swirl pattern.
View changes to first person.
Through the binoculars, Raiden sees his longitude and latitude coordinates down to the forth decimal, an electronic compass, the temperature, moisture, air pressure, and wind reading, and altitude. He also sees readouts of his own vitals.
Raiden crawls forward several feet and peers through the grass toward the air force base in the distance. His binoculars zoom in toward the base. It rests on the side of the hill in the center of the island. It is small, consisting of four square concrete buildings with few windows. Each building has a landing pad on top of it. There are only two worn runways in front of the buildings. Razor wire fences surround the base. The inside has only sparse trees but very tall grasses and many bushes and shrubs. Guards patrol the grounds of the base along with the occasional guard dog and cypher. Two Gekko’s stand on landing pads. They slowly walk in circles as they survey the grounds of the base.
Raiden receives a signal over codec, but the view remains in first person as he speaks.

EMMA
ThunderBoss, I am detecting a military helicopter approaching your vicinity. It is a Sikorsky CH-53K.
RAIDEN
The biggest cargo chopper they make. Marines right?
EMMA
That is correct.
Raiden hears a distand hum of engines. He looks up into the air and sees a massive, dull gray helicopter approaching the air force base from the northeast. He zooms in on the helicopter and sees the US Marines logo on tail. The helicopter’s bulk allows it to fly smoothly in the rain and wind.
RAIDEN
I see it.
Looks like that benefactor’s here. I’m recording video now, I’ll turn on audio once it lands.
OTACON
Why would they need such a big transport?
RAIDEN
Well obviously they’re making a delivery.
OTACON
Before they even negotiated their terms?
RAIDEN
Samples Otacon. It’s for samples.
OTACON
Oh.
View now overlooks the helicopter flying toward the air force base.
The helicopter spends another minute flying toward the base before slowing down and descending onto a landing pad atop the largest of the buildings. Both Gekkos immediately turn and run to greet the helicopter. Three guards in hooded black shawls carrying rifles exit a door from the building onto the roof.
The helicopter’s engines shut down and the wing slows down. The Gekkos stand territorially around the helicopter while the guards approach it now with its engines off, all of them hunched over from the storm.
One of the guards grabs the handle of the helicopter door and slides it open. A single figure stands at the entrance and steps out into the storm.
The figure is also dressed in a hooded black shawl to shelter it from the storm, but is far different from the guards.
The figure is female, quite tall and solid of build, thought still distinctly feminine. Through her hood one can see her face, which is bizarre mix of ethnic features. Her skin is a light cinnamon and her eyes slanted like that of a pacific islander, but her broad, shapely jaw and utterly average nose and lips suggests something Nordic. Her cheekbones are high and sharp like that of a Japanese, and her shoulder length hair is straight and bodied like one Mediterranean, but is bight fiery red, a feature thought impossible outside those with fair skin.
Beneath the hooded shawl the woman wears golden bandana with a black infinite symbol on its front. Her suit is of a skin tight polymer with a split toe design somewhat similar to Raiden’s own POCC suit, but with different seams. Unlike Raiden’s suit, hers is a dull green laced with thread thin gold lines following the contours of her muscles, making the entire suit appear to be a humanoid circuit board. Over the suit she wears a full length coat woven of what appears to be the exact same midnight blue polymer of Raiden’s. But her coat is perforated, appearing to have the same general structure as hexagonal camo net.

RAIDEN [Whispering to self]
A woman?
Raiden looks over the mysterious woman. A green light flashes in the corner labeled VIDEO CAPTURE. Next to it, another green light turns on labeled AUDIO CAPTURE
Raiden notes the weapons she carries. He zooms in on her, his binoculars outlining and labeling the various arms she carries. On a belt is holstered three weapons, all larger, but not by much, than a full sized pistol. Raiden looks at the weapon on her left hip, It appears to be a single hand, break away grenade launcher. His binoculars identify it as the HK 69. On her left his is holstered what appears to be a jet-black pistol but with a ridiculously oversized frame. It is identified as actually being the HK MP7 Submachine Gun. I the center of the belt is holstered what appears to be a black and charcoal pistol, but is very elongated and streamlined. It has a rifle style rotating bolt action at the end, and a rifle scope. It is identified as the Pro-Series 2,000 SP Sniper pistol by HS Precision Inc, chambered for .308 Winchester ammo. Strapped to her right leg is a sheath for a Chinese Jian sword. The sword itself has a metallic, electronic handle. The binoculars identify it as a high frequency sword, but do not recognize the model. Finally, on a single leather bandoleer, she carries two grenades, one stun grenade, and one smoke grenade. The binoculars are unable to identify the suit or the perforated coat.
Raiden looks up at her head and zooms up close to the bandana.
RAIDEN [Whispering to self]
A Mobius Bandana?
No, Mobius Bandanas are silver… but maybe.
Not carrying any spare ammo anyway.
At the same time Raiden observes the features and equipment of the mysterious woman, a conversation takes place between her and the three guards.
The mysterious woman has a deep and direly serious voice with the slightest hint of an unknown accent.
GUARD A
It took you long enough lady.
GUARD B
It better all be here or you’re not leaving this island alive.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
After all that I’ve done for you, and all the truths I’ve told and all the promises I’ve kept, you are still so hostile toward me.
GUARD C
Shove it with you’re psychobabble BS wench! All we want is our goods.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
They are all there waiting for you.
GUARD A
How much?
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
Everything you requested.
GUARD B
How much dammit!
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
… If you insist.
Inside you will find one hundred HK 416 rifles with AG-C Grenade Launchers, two hundred Smith and Wesson forty caliber M&P Pistols with lights and suppressors, one hundred sawed off Benelli M3S90 Shotguns, twenty HK MSG 90 rifles, two hundred OKC3S combat knives, ten FGM-172 SRAW missile launchers, all signature, and all with enough ammunition for a month’s use. You’ll also find twenty armored compression suits and enough medical equipment to supply a mobile hospital.
As soon as our negotiations are complete, we will send you the other ninety nine percent of the arms.
Guard A motions toward the helicopter and guards B and C enter it.
The mysterious woman turns toward guards B and C inside the helicopter and watches them for about a minute.
Guards B and C exit the helicopter and approach guard A.
GUARD B
She’s good.
GUARD C
It’s all there.
GUARD A
Good. You’re now our guest miss.
Let’s get the hell out of this storm.
Guards A, B, and C jog hunched over from the rain back through the door leading into the concrete building.
Once the guards are inside, the mysterious woman begins to follow them, walking slowly and casually. Halfway to the door she stops, and turns her head to look directly at Raiden, and smiles.
View now overlooks Raiden.
Raiden lifts his head slightly as a confused expression takes his face. Suddenly, Raiden’s eyes roll back into his head and his head falls onto the ground.
Raiden is unconscious.
Fade to white.
Raiden floats naked and asleep in an endless white light. His braids flow upward and he bobs gently up and down as if underwater.
RAIDEN [V.O.]
Where am I?
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
You are in a safe place.
RAIDEN [V.O.]
Why did you bring me here?
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
I wanted to ask you some questions.
RAIDEN [V.O.]
What kind of questions?
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
Questions about you.
RAIDEN [V.O.]
I guess I don’t have much of a choice in the matter.
What is it about me you want to know?
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
I want to know who you are.
RAIDEN [V.O.]
Who I am?
…
I’m Jack Sears.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
Is that really who you are?
RAIDEN [V.O.]
Well, it’s my name.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
I see. Do you have any other names?
RAIDEN [V.O.]
Jack the Ripper… White Devil… Raiden… Thunder Boss.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
And what are the significance of those names?
RAIDEN [V.O.]
Those are the names other people gave me.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
Why did other people give you those names?
RAIDEN [V.O.]
Because I’m the best at what I do.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
And what do you do.
RAIDEN [V.O.]
Kill people.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
Does killing give you fulfillment?
RAIDEN [V.O.]
No.
Actually, it makes me sick.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
Than why do you do it?
RAIDEN [V.O.]
Because it’s my job.
… Listen, if you want me to realize just how sick and sorry my life really is, don’t bother, I already know.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
I’m only trying to understand you.
RAIDEN [V.O.]
There’s not much to understand.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
Tell me, have you ever thought about creating your own name?
RAIDEN [V.O.]
I tried to once, but I couldn’t think of one.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
Why not?
RAIDEN [V.O.]
I guess It’s because I couldn’t find anything I was good at… other than killing people that is, and I already have too many names for that talent.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
I believe I understand.
I hope we can become friends.
RAIDEN [V.O.]
I don’t think I’d be too comfortable with that.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
Does that mean you wish me to leave you be?
RAIDEN [V.O.]
Yes it does.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [V.O.]
Very well.
I hope you find a name for yourself one day, and fulfillment with it.
In the endless white light Raiden begins to open his eyes.
Raiden suddenly jerks his head up from the mud. He is still in laying in the same patch of grass, overlooking the same air force base. His electronic goggles have long since retracted. The once raging storm has now reduce to a light breeze and drizzle. The helicopter is still there on top of the largest of the concrete buildings, but no one is around guarding it. Even the Gekkos have lost interest and are again scanning the base from atop other roofs. The right side of his face is covered in mud.
The Codec beeps in his ear incessantly.
Raiden sticks his finger to his ear.

Man, that was simply amazing man. I love how you're starting to show how Raiden really feels about himself. And this mysterious woman is simply a breath taking character you've created. Keep it up bud. :thumb:
*Seriously, by the time your story is finished, my best writer title will be in your sig with how amazing your story is. :thumb: *
ThunderBoss - December 3, 2006 05:04 PM (GMT)
There's one more thing I forgot to mention.
All of the weapons and vehicles you see mentioned in this fic -besides the clearly fictitious ones like High Frequency Swords and Metal Gears- are actual weapons. You can look them up yourself and see pictures of them!
Also, I want to hear people’s comments about this other than BigK!
ThunderBoss - December 11, 2006 01:29 AM (GMT)
I really want to see more people comment on this than just BigK! I want to know how I am as a writer and the only way is for you to tell me.
BTW, when I describe the uniforms of the soldiers of one Desmond Mattias, I did it with an actual photo in mind.

Now onto the script!
Raiden lifts his head from the grass and looks behind him.
The swells of the ocean have lessened in size, but are still prominent. He sees several dark specs on the oceans.
Raiden turns around in the grass and gazes out into the ocean. His binoculars slide over his eyes. He folds his arms in front of him on the ground and rests his head on them.
First person view.
Raiden sees the swelling ocean and the landing craft appearing and disappearing from behind the waves.
Green lights flash in the corner of the binoculars labeled VIDEO CAPTURE and AUDIO CAPTURE. An error message then appears in red beneath AUDIO CAPTURE elaborating ‘Precipitation interference, out of range’.
Raiden zooms in. From the distance his binoculars identify the landing craft briefly as Heavy Lift Landing Craft Air Cushioned (HLCAC), Navy built but these in particular containing army insignias and are painted in army tan. The soldiers are still too distant to make out clearly.RAIDEN [Whisptering to self]
How the hell did word of this op. get out?
Someone in Washington’s going to have their ass on a pike for this.
View overlooking on of the landing craft.
The soldiers are dressed in black polymer helmets covering the entire head except for the face. Lights and cameras are contained within crevices built in to the helmets. Large safety goggles are worn over the eyes.
Over their fatigues the soldiers wear armored flack jackets with armored shoulderpads. Extending beyond the flack jackets are soft Kevlar sleeves protecting the upper arms and upper legs. Their camo pattern consists of straight streaks in earth colors. One man stands at the bow of the landing craft, mostly unaffected by the rocking that jostles all the other crew. He wears no helmet, and no flack jacket, only the Kevlar coveralls, and two Kevlar bandoleers filled with knives, extra clips, grenades, and two pistols.
Over his fatigues the man wears a full length coat woven of several layers, with the same straight streak camo of the fatigues, appearing to be woven of very thick fabric and appearing very heavy. On the sleeve of his coat just below the shoulder he wears the badge denoting the rank of Army Command Sergeant Major. Just below that he wears the logo of Delta Force. His face, not conforming to standard enlisted dress, but definitely conforming to Delta Force standards, sports medium length, slightly graying black hair, a full chin curtain, and thin glasses. He lazily holds on to a sharpshooter configured, jet black XM8 rifle with his right hand while shielding his eyes from the rain with his left.
He speaks with a voice that while smooth, one would for only a second think is raspy because it is so gruff.DELTA FORCE MAN
Almost there.
SOLDIER A
They’ve got Gekkos scanning the shore.
DELTA FORCE MAN
We can handle Gekkos.
… Unless someone forgot to bring the heavy duty crap.
SOLDIER B
We got two stingers here in the lead boat, both loaded, and four extra missiles.
Everyone else just has AT4s.
DELTA FORCE MAN
Than the Gekkos shouldn’t be a problem now should they?
SOLDIER A
No sir.
DELTA FORCE MAN
Good.
Hmmp… Heads are gonna roll if that Metal Gear ain’t here.
The Delta Force Man puts away his rifle in a slot in his coat, kneels down and picks up a Stinger missile launcher in his right hand. He holds it to with a casual grip.
View overlooks the beach.
The landing craft begin to land. They plow up onto the beach. Their gates drop and dozens upon dozens of soldiers pour out onto the beach like ants, wielding a variety of weapons, most notably is the presence of AT4 rocket launchers. The Delta Force man in the midst of the hunched, charging soldiers walks onto the beach casually as if he was taking a neighborhood stroll.
The Gekko on the top of the beach shrieks like a combination of a screaming condor and the screeching of rusty machinery. It rears back and leaps through the air, landing on the beach in a hunched position. The soldiers immediately drop to their knees and begin firing at its legs, causing bleeding bullet wounds that are largely shrugged off by the Gekko. As soon as the Gekko rights itself, it opens fire into the crowd of soldiers with its mounted miniguns, killing almost ten, and wounding a dozen more.
The Delta Force man lifts his stinger to his shoulder and fires immediately, not even bothering to get a target lock. The missile flies down a curved path, and despite no target lock, strikes the chassis of the Gekko right in the center, blowing the entire chassis into fragments and leaving two disconnected legs to fall over, bleeding profusely, onto the sand.
The soldiers begin slowly making their way down the beach.
First person view.
Raiden skips around viewing all the soldiers in identical combat uniforms. His boniculars identify the uniforms as OFW Soldier Ensemble manufactured by General Dynamics. Most carry M4 rifles with M203 grenade launchers, but a significant portion also carry SAWS, M40A3 rifles, and a few of them have AT4s.
Raiden spots and focuses in on the Delta Force man walking casually among the energetic others. Raiden zooms in on his rank patch and Delta Force logo, and then zooms out on him walking down the beach.
During the following conversation, you have control over where Raiden looks.
Still in first person view.RAIDEN
You getting this?
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
It’s all clear on my end.
RAIDEN
Who was that guy?
EMMA [Over Codec]
The United States Army Personnel Database identifies him as Command Sergeant Major Desmond Mattias, field commander of squadron C of The 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta. His areas of specialty include demolition, battlefield engineering, and sharp shooting.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
I know him.
He was one of the few higher ups in Delta Force who was an outspoken Abrogator.
After Delta Force itself officially sided with the Partisans, he rebelled and took in every armed forces member he could find who was willing to go along with what he called, “The greatest cause American soldiers have ever fought for.” His followers number fifteen thousand strong and come from pretty much every branch and field of the armed forces. They’re the backbone of the militant portion of the Abrogators.
RAIDEN
Militant abrogators.
That’s just great… just what we need right here and now.
Why the hell are they here anyway?
GENERALL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
I don’t know.
All you’re missions are classified at the highest level… until they’re completed that is.
I don’t know how they found out about it.
RAIDEN
I’ll keep recording.
View overlooks the end of the beach.
The soldiers are in the midst setting up a makeshift camp of tents and tarps on the beach and are treating those wounded by the Gekko. Desmond Mattias walks down the camp glancing at the wounded soldiers.
Two other soldiers walk up to Mattias and salute him.SOLDIERS A & B
Sir!
DESMOND MATTIAS
At ease.
The soldiers relax.SOLDIER A
I’m guessing it’ll take five minutes for the other Gekko’s to get here.
We’ve got eight men with AT4s waiting behind cover on the beach to pop out when they get here.
SOLDIER B
If they got cyphers than those are going to show up in less than two.
We estimate human reinforcements won’t be here for ten.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Tell me something I don’t know.
SOLDIER A
Someone beat us here.
DESMOND MATTIAS
What?
SOLDIER B
Well, we found a kind of pod buried in the sand not too far from here. It was open and padded on the inside. And there were glow sticks in there that still had some juice in them.
SOLDIER A
Like I said. Someone beat us here.
DESMOND MATTIAS
He’s gotta be after the Metal Gear.
Alright, we got one more mission parameter, find this guy and capture him if possible, kill him if necessary.
SOLDIERS A & B
Yes sir.

I don’t know!
There probably isn’t one. I mean, at least I don’t think there is. I checked out every avenue of information available to me and I didn’t find anything about a Metal Gear… well, except for the Gekkos, but those are a whole different classification.
RAIDEN
Well, if there is one here what should I do about it?
OTACON [Over Codec]
I don’t know.
The only thing you have capable of taking out a Metal Gear is the EMP Generator, and you need that to take out the AI.
You might be able to do both if they're in the same general vicinity, but if it’s magnetically shielded than not even that would work.

We never found anything on any Metal Gear, and even if there is one here, you’re just not equipped to fight it.
If it is there, and you get a golden opportunity to take it out, do so. But in any other event, just treat it as irrelevant.
RAIDEN
One more thing.
Why didn’t they think that pod was for the rep.?
Codec signal changes to OtaconOTACON [Over Codec]
They probably didn’t know anything about the rep.
RAIDEN
Wait, something’s going on.
Return to view overlooking beach camp.
One of the soldiers points to the horizon above the trees lining the cliff.SOLDIER
Cyphers!
The rest of the soldiers scramble toward their weapons and toward cover. Ten jet black cyphers with highly modified M4A1 carbines attached to their undersides begin to fly out from over the treetops. They begin to descend one the soldiers and fire at them while they dive for cover and return fire.
Desmond Mattias also dives for cover behind a log. He pulls his XM8 out of his coat and shoots at them in semi-auto mode from the chest, not even bothering to look through the sights. Every bullet connects with a cypher, blowing off its top mounted camera and sending it spiraling down to a crash. Unlike with the Gekko, very few of the soldiers are hurt from the cyphers, but more soon fly past the treetops.
Return to first person view.
Raiden focuses on Desmond Mattias firing from behind the log.
Still in first person view.RAIDEN
By the time their done finishing off those cyphers, the other Gekkos will get to fight them. And by the time they’re done with the Gekkos, they’ll have to deal with manned reinforcements.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
They seem equipped to take on all three.
This might actually help you. It’ll draw the enemy’s attention away from the base making it easier for you to sneak inside.
RAIDEN
You know, for once I’m actually kind of glad I ran into the Abrogators.
OTACON [Over Codec]
This is your chance to sneak away unnoticed.
Take it.

http://mgsforums.com/index.php?showtopic=9794This is probably my all time best story, people posted in it showing me what they liked for quite a while, and eventually stopped posting. But I continued to post the story because I, and many others thought it was very good. This is what got me best writer, your story, in my opinion has a good chance at beating Second Skin. So keep at it. You're writing like a pro, dude, trust me.
Many people stopped posting in the writers section, they'll usually start posting when you either finish or get closer to the climax point. Take it from writer to another, ThunderBoss, keep at it, and eventually, they will come, and they will recognize your talents. :thumb:
ThunderBoss - December 19, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
Sorry...
Anyway, here's the next piece of the script. And within it is the very first boss fight!
[Raiden’s stamina is low. He gets up on his hands and knees and crawls as quickly as he can through the brush, constantly adjusting his camo settings to avoid detection by the passing Cyphers. But as they are flying toward the Abrogators and not actively scanning for intruders, the camouflage is enough to avoid detection from them.
Raiden travels from the cliff into a dense jungle of greens and browns, with tiny scattered ponds and streams. Grass is now almost unseen due to the saturation of the soil. Raiden walks through mud as he continues through. Under the cover of the trees and the large shrubs, Raiden can now stand up and dash through the jungle.
Within the jungle, Raiden finds a few varieties of vegetables, reptiles, and birds, and insects for him to eat. But if he eats a raw Taro, he will choke on the barbed fibers and wheeze loudly for some time, alerting nearby guards, dogs, and machines. Though there are very few guards or dogs patrolling the area.
Eventually, Raiden hears a rumbling in the distance. Suddenly, three Gekkos break through the jungle in a charge toward the Abrogator’s beach camp. Raiden must quickly take cover behind a boulder, tree, or beneath a pond in order to avoid detection. Soon after, a squad of sixteen men appear hiking through the forest toward the camp. Raiden must hide must take cover, or hide within shrubbery to again avoid being noticed.
As Raiden makes his way through the jungle toward the air force base, he encounters four more squads heading toward the camp and must hide from them also. But each time he encounters a squad, it gives him the opportunity to rush behind, grab one, and drag his away before anyone else notices. He can then obtain items from them such as stun grenades, smoke grenades, rations, and simple tool kits and cans of compressed air that he can use to clean his weapons.
Raiden makes his way further through the jungle, past river, through a small ravine, and past a series of small mercenary camps. The camps are patrolled by guards, dogs, and Cyphers. Raiden can either attempt to sneak through the camps as quickly as possible, or explore them for items. If he chooses the latter, he will find more common items, as well as a cardboard box meant for shipping mandarin oranges, a chip that can be installed into his POCC Suit giving it a new camo pattern, a chip that can be installed into his goggles giving them an extra 2X zoom, a face net for use in preventing insect bites, and several adult magazines that he can use as bait for guards.
At last Raiden reaches the old air force base. Due to the conflict at the beach there are no Gekkos to be seen and very few Cyphers. Guards and dogs patrol the exterior of the base. The ground is of packed dirt, with shrubs and trees only along the perimeter, making camouflage rather difficult. None of the door respond when attempts to open them, and they all have cardslots beneath their handles.
Walking around the base Raiden sees a select few of the guards have olive monochrome fatigues rather than camo. These guards have plain rectangular gold pins adorning their shoulders, perhaps indicating that they are officers. These guards seem to be the only ones who have cards that can access the doors. Raiden takes one out and steals his card. He can now enter the inside of the base.
Inside the base appears as if it was made to be as monotonous as it possibly could. Plain concrete floors give way to plain concrete walls and plain concrete ceilings. Scaffolding is used as shelving and desk space. There are no windows, and rusting pipes usually obscure the ceilings. There are far more guards inside than outside, though most of them concentrated in a few places and seeming on edge. It would be best for Raiden to avoid those concentrations. The entire base consists of large store rooms rigged for different uses such as weapons storage, barracks, and computer labs. There are no dogs or Cyphers inside.
Along the way to the underground base, Raiden finds a guard playing a PSP while three other guards watch from behind his shoulder. Raiden can use a stun grenade on the guards and then tranquilize them before they recover to capture the PSP. He can then leave it out on the floor to distract other guards.
Among other items he finds are a crowbar that can open locked lockers and flimsy locked doors and well as be used as a CQC weapon, a chip that can be installed into his goggles giving them an IR function, a crate full of bricks of Composition D plastic explosives with timed detonators, and another cardboard box meant for shipping copies of Metal Gear Thunder: The End of Eden.
As much as Raiden travels through the base, he cannot find the entrance to the underground warehouse. Interrogating guards, Raiden learns that there is a steel powered door that looks to have been sealed shut by corrosives.
Further searching reveals the sealed door. Discovered from a self-initiated Codec call, Raiden can blow the door right out of the wall by sticking four Comp D bricks on the top corners of the door, and on each side.
Raiden blows the door right off the wall, which if he has not taken out the local guards, will cause an alert mode. He goes inside. Within is a featureless room and an elevator protected by fold-away cast iron bars locked with another card reader. Though Raiden does not have the key to release the lock on the bars, another brick of Comp D will blow the lock right off and allow Raiden to enter.
Raiden Rides the elevator down eight stories underground where he exits to a steel and glass overpass overlooking a large rectangular storage room filled humming small frame servers. The servers all have thick fiber optic cables running from them, converging and running through a small duct into another room. The walls and floors are again of featureless concrete. A powered cast iron door the size of a garage door stands on one side of the far wall while the duct is on the other side of the wall.]
Raiden kneels over and looks out across the room filled with the small servers.
First person view.
The green light for AUDIO CAPTURE goes on.
The player can control where Raiden looks for about five seconds, but cannot exit first person view.
At the end of five seconds.

I’m at the warehouse. I’m in a room full of servers, you getting the video feed.

Yes I am.
RAIDEN
How do I plug in the modem.

OTACON
Uhhh… You can’t.
Not with those servers anyway.
RAIDEN
Huh?
OTACON
Those are just plain IBM S i5 servers from back in ’08.
There’s no way an AI can be housed in those, not with just so few of them anyway. It would take at least four hundred.
Those servers are probably just for the AI’s network connection.
Codec signal changes to Emma.
EMMA
The actual mainframe for the FDR AI is most likely through the large steel powered door at the far end of the chamber.
RAIDEN
I really wish you hadn’t said that.
EMMA
I do not understand.
RAIDEN
Erhh… I knew that was probably the case, I was just hoping it wasn’t.
Thing is, I don’t think that whole crate of Comp D. is going to blast through that door.

Yeah… sure.

[Raiden goes to the end of the overlook and climbs down a ladder to a raised platform below. Eight more servers adorn the platform, four in front, and four in back. A single staircase in the center of the platform leads to the ground below. Raiden walks down the stairs and approaches the back wall.]
Raiden hears pattering from the distance. Instinctively he dives behind a row of servers. He peaks out.
View overlooks the overpass. Several dozen figures stand behind the glass. They fire their weapons. The entire glass wall of the overpass explodes sending millions of tiny fragments of glass raining down on the ground below, and onto the raised platform and servers. The glass gone, the figures are revealed to be the Abrogator soldiers, all standing poised with their M4 C carbines.
The Abrogator soldiers all throw ropes down from both sides of the overpass and in an exodus fast rope down into the room from the platform. They begin to spread out across the room as Raiden still peaks out from behind the row of servers.
Two of the soldiers approach Raidens position and lift their carbines to their shoulders.
SOLDIER A
Get out! I can see you!
Slowly and methodically, Raiden holsters his weapons and steps out from behind the row of servers.
As soon as he’s in full view, both soldiers who confronted him gasp and take steps back.
SOLDIER A
Oh my god… It’s him.
SOLDIER B
It’s impossible.
SOLDIER A
It’s him! I know it’s him!
Raiden starts walking forward. The two soldiers walk backward to make room for him, while still pointing their carbines at him, one of them shaking his hands as he does so. Raiden keeps walking forward looking between them with a hostile, but otherwise expressionless face. They keep walking backward to make room for him.
Raiden finally walks out into the open. All the Abrogator soldiers wait for him to emerge from half way behind cover with their carbines poised. Almost a dozen of them jump out with their rifles pointed at him. But as they see him, murmurs erupt through the crowd and they all take several steps away from him.
Raiden, still expressionless, gazes all around at the faces surrounding him. They are of fear, awe, anger, but mostly confusion.
A voice rings out across the room.
VOICE
What the hell’s suddenly turned you all into chicken funk!?
Raiden looks up at the overpass to see Desmond Mattias standing alone holding his XM8 at rest on his shoulder.
Raiden’s goggles extend over his eyes as he looks at Mattias.
Mattias points at Raiden.
DESMOND MATTIAS
So you’re that rat bastard who beat us here.
You left quite a trail of explosions for us to follow.
RAIDEN
Desmond Mattias.
Desmond brings down his rifle into both hands and sneers at Raiden.
DESMOND MATTIAS
That’s Command Sergeant Major Mattias to you marshmallow boy!
DESMOND MATTIAS
(MICHAEL MADSEN)
SOLDIER C
If you knew what’s good for you, you wouldn’t talk to him like that.
DESMOND MATTIAS
And why the hell not?
SOLDIER D
Do you even know who that is?
DESMOND MATTIAS
No, but I’m pretty sure he’s either a cult leader of a gay porn star.
Raiden grins and laughs at the comment under his breath.
SOLDIER D
That’s the Thunder Boss!
Mattias leans forward, grimaces, and squints.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Thunder Boss?
You’re the legendary Thunder Boss!?
Hah! Hah, hah, hah, hah!
RAIDEN
I prefer Raiden.
DESMOND MATTIAS
And why would that be?
RAIDEN
I don’t deserve the name Boss.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Well, you are the guy who surpassed Solid Snake aren’t you? That is, if my men actually know what the hell they’re talking about.
RAIDEN
Surpassed Solid Snake?
Maybe as a fighter, but as a soldier I still don’t measure up.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Whatever cream puff.
Hah! I like that. To hell wit both Raiden AND Thunder Boss, I think from now on I’m just gonna call you cream puff.
More murmurs erupt through the crowd.
Raiden gets a slight grin on one side of his face.
DESMOND MATTIAS
So cream puff, where’s the Metal Gear?
RAIDEN
This is the first I’ve heard about any Metal Gear.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Well why the hell else would the partisans send you of all people here huh?
To get at it before we do! That’s why.
So where is it?
RAIDEN
I’m only here to take out a former Patriot AI.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Take out an AI my ass.
And what the hell’s the difference between a soldier and a fighter anyway, cream puff?
RAIDEN
Perspective, something you clearly don’t have.
Mattias, once pacing back and forth, stops, and stares directly at Raiden. He growls, screams, and then lifts his XM8 straight up and fires fully automatic into the ceiling for several seconds.
Mattias calms down and leans against the railing of the overpass.
DESMOND MATTIAS [Yelling]
I don’t have perspective!?
It’s you partisans who found out about this whole god damn illuminati in the first place! It was you who brought the whole thing down! And now you’re trying to save the system they put in place just to keep us all good little schoolgirls that they can toy with like a god damn psych ward patient!
Lab rats, that what we were! Every Joe Blow son-of-a-bitch in the United States of America was nothing more than a lab rat when the Patriots were in power! And none of them even knew it! And now you Partizans are trying to perpetuate the same BS that they used just to keep us held under their fingers without even knowing it! With the new Metal Gear we can keep that from happening.
And you accuse me of not having perspective!?
Note, from the moment his goggle slide over Raiden’s eyes, you can view first person by holding R1. During the conversation, Raiden briefly glances at the various medals and ribbons pinned to Mattias’ coat. The goggles identify them all and suggest he is extremely vain for wearing them into combat.
Raiden then zooms in and focuses on Mattias’ crotch, never once looking away from it.
Mattias stops and turns his head toward Raiden.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Are you listening to a damn thing I’m saying?
Raiden’s goggles retract.
RAIDEN
No.
Mattias growls. He then throws a rope over the overpass and fastropes down onto the center of the platform.
Mattias unhooks the rope from his belt and slaps the side of his XM8, switching it to semi-auto.
DESMOND MATTIAS
How ‘bout we go at it one round eh cream puff?
Murmurs spread through the crowd.
RAIDEN [Raising an eyebrow]
Go at it?
DESMOND MATTIAS
Let’s see if that man who surpassed Solid Snake, if only as a fighter, is any match for the greatest eagle eyes in all of third squadron!
What do you say? You up for a duel?
Just you and me cream puff, none of them will get involved.
More murmurs spread throughout the crowd.
RAIDEN
The greatest eagle eyes in third squadron?
Just how good of a shot are you anyway?
In a flash, Mattias extends his arm out all the way, holding his XM8 in one hand. He fires, over and over again. He fires almost as fast as if the rifle were in full auto mode.
Bullets whiz by Raiden’s head in a blur. They pass so close that they clip off bit of hair and streak across his skin causing tiny cuts like papercuts. Raiden does not flinch or even bat an eyelid as bullets pass by him.
Mattias empties his entire clip. The barrel smokes. He brings his XM8 back into both hands, ejects the clip, quickly inserts another one and cocks the gun.
Raiden turns his head around. Behind him is a perfect dotted outline of his head in bullet holes within a now sparking and smoking server. Raiden turns his head back to Mattias. Throughout all of this Raiden’s expression remains utterly relaxed and care free.
RAIDEN
I suppose if I refused you’d sick your platoon on me.
So yes, I accept.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Excellent!
Mattias pulls a frag grenade off one of his bandoleers, triggers it, and tosses it at the foot of the staircase.
Everyone near the grenade runs back and takes cover, including Raiden.
The grenade explodes, blowing the bottom section of the staircase into scraps. The upper section, dislodged from the platform by the blast, falls off into the small crater left from the grenade.
DESMOND MATTIAS
This is between me and cream puff here!
Don’t any of you get between us.
I want to see just how good this “Thunder Boss” really is.
BOSS FIGHT: DESMOND MATTIAS
[Mattias immediately spins around and takes cover behind a server. The other Abrogator soldiers run off to the sides of the room. They all shout advice and cheers to their commander up on the platform.
Raiden takes out his dental mirror and looks behind the server he’s hiding behind. In the mirror he sees Mattias hiding behind a server of his own. Raiden pulls out his HK P30, and holds it backwards, pointing it out from behind the mirror, but can’t get a shot at Mattias who hides behind his own server.
Mattias pulls out another frag grenade, peaks out from behind cover, and throws the grenade at the server Raiden hides behind. Raiden leaps away from the server. In that instant, Mattias spins around from his cover and fires at Raiden with his XM8. While still in midair, Raiden gets hit in the thigh.]
DESMOND MATTIAS
Fancy acrobatics won’t save your ass from this sharp shooter cream puff!
[Carbon nanotubes dig their way through the flesh of Raidens thigh. They fish out the bullet and then thread themselves through the flesh, holding it clamped together.
Raiden immediately takes cover behind another server as the previous one explodes, sending scrap plastic flying and leaving nothing but a small crater in its wake.
As Mattias gloats, Raiden takes the opportunity to spot him once again with his dental mirror. He takes a shot from his HK P30, and hit Mattias right in the neck. Mattias screams and spins around back behind the cover of another server. He pulls the dartout of his neck.
Mattias pulls out two grenades, holding them both in one hand, and this time he peaks out from his cover and throws them both out one at a time, each landing on either side a small distance from the server Raiden hides behind.
Raiden is forced to run down the hall between rows of servers. Mattias spins out from behind cover and takes aim at Raiden. Hearing Mattias set controls on his XM8 flips forward, avoiding three bullets. Raiden hides behind cover of another server in the middle of the hall just as three at the front are blown up.]
DESMOND MATTIAS
Son of a bitch!!!
At the height of his scream, Mattias hits the side of his gun, switching it to full auto and firing up into the ceiling, emptying the rest of his clip before ejecting it and inserting a new one.
He cocks the XM8 as he says.
DESMOND MATTIAS
I never miss a shot in semi auto.
RAIDEN
Not such a great shot when you’re pumped full of Sodium Pentathol are you?
[Mattias spins behind cover of a server and peaks out. He again pulls out two grenades in one hand, triggers them both and throws them on either side of Raiden’s cover server.
This time, Raiden already has a vie of Mattias from his dental mirror, and fires his HK P30 as soon as an arm is in view. Raiden hits Mattias in the upper arm. Mattias again screams and pulls the dart out as soon as his arm is back behind cover.
Raiden must run forward back to the front of the hall to avoid the blast. Mattias spins out from behind cover and fires at Raiden in full auto. Raiden flips forward to avoid the bullets but is nonetheless struck in the shoulder. Raiden dives behind another server in front of the room just as three more in the middle explode.
Raiden can again feel carbon nanotube burrow into his flesh to digout the bullet, suture the wound, and this time drill through his broken shoulder bone, threading through it like a net and finally pulling the shattered pieces back together, fitting them all perfectly like a jigsaw puzzle.
Mattias now wheezes heavily and shakes his head periodically. He is out of frag grenades, so he pulls out a smoke grenade and tosses it onto the ground just in front of the platform. Smoke pours out obscuring Mattias’ view of Raiden, but also Raiden’s view of Mattias. Raiden runs to the side of the room to get a view of Mattias. Mattias follows his footsteps, firing at him through the smoke and grazing Raiden’s skin and suit on many occasions.
Now visibly wobbling as he walks, Mattias sees Raiden at the side of the room. He lifts his XM8 at Raiden, but his movements are sluggish. In that instant, Raiden Lifts his HK P30, and fires at Mattias before Mattias could pull the trigger. The dart buries itself in the other side of Mattias’ neck.
Mattias struggles just to stand up. He pulls the dart out of his neck and leans against the railing, lifting his XM8 toward Raiden in a haphazard manner. Raiden fires two more shots, each hitting Mattias in one arm.]
Mattias’ hand shakes wildly as he tries to grip his XM8. But his grip falters, and he drops it. Mattias drops to his hands and knees, clutching his chest in one hand and wheezing.
DESMOND MATTIAS
(huff, hack) It’s not over between us… (wheeze) cream puff.
Mattias collapses onto the grating floor of the platform.

Hey man!
I was over at TSOBB and saw that you wanted some boss help. Still need it? I've got some ideas for ya.
As a fellow fan fic writer, I gotta say: Nice work! Keep it up!
I may post mine up soon.
Best of luck,
TFH :fox:
ThunderBoss - December 28, 2006 05:48 AM (GMT)
Actually, I would love to hear your ideas. Spout them off right here, or send them to me via PM.
Thing is, even if people here knew the exact nature of all of the bosses, -how you fight them, how they fight you- there are deeper connections between all of them that not even they are aware of, and I highly doubt anyone in the audience will be able to guess even a quarter of the truth behind their origins and motives.
Your choice, I'm just saying if you post here, it will only be the most trivial of spoilers.
TheFrankHunter - December 28, 2006 06:51 AM (GMT)
This is in response to your post at TSOBB a while back. You said you wanted an aquatic guy. You also said brainstorm, so here it goes.
Alright dude, I've got two ideas for you.
Aquatic. I'm not sure on a background. I could prolly think of one pretty quick, though. For the sake of FOXHOUND, let's name him Manatee. Manatee has the ability to form himself into a liquid state. You work through it. Either its magic or there's some sort of chemistry to it. This is brainstorming, so I'm throwing random things at you. Perhaps when he was a newborn he had a lung disease where he didn't get enough oxygen. Either surgically implanted or through the magic of nature he has a gland that absorbs extra oxygen from the air around him. When he grew older, the disease passed naturally, and he then suffered from excess oxygen and it was killing his organs. I suppose they could not have implanted the gland because it would be best if they couldn't remove it. Say... grown around an important vein or what-not. In order to save him from death, they had to find a way to dispose of the excess oxygen. Thus Manatee was fitted with a refillable canister of Hydrogen and his body leaked water constantly. (Imagining this, I am becoming very uncomfortable) As a mercenary or some sort of soldier, due to his interesting physical nature he was entered into some medical testing. The hydrogen in his canister was changed. It had strong bonds holding the molecules together, and when put on high power, the excess fluid would literally tear his body apart, turning Manatee into a liquid state. The hydrogen molecules would keep all parts of him bonded and retain the ability to send complex electrical signals, i.e. thoughts and motor skills. Obviously this would cause Manatee some problems, seeing as how his canister cannot liquify. Therefore, he cannot stay in that state for too long, providing for some interesting death possibilities. I have one idea for his armament. The hydro cutter equipped on the Metal Gear RAY... or a smaller version, seeing as how he can power it with his own body. Besides that, it's up to you. I've come up with all of this on the spot. Let me know whether or not you use Manatee because I might like to use him as Poseidon in my MGS fan fic if I continue it.
I hope you made some sense of that brainstorm garbage.
My other idea, you might not like. You said you didn't want more psychics. A POW who had his eyes gouged out in some war. While lying in misery in his prison, he tapped into some unknown power and he realized he was still able to see, but he was looking at himself. This man realized that he could see through the eyes of other living things, as well as send mental messages to those things he was linked to. He used this power to escape, and from that day on, he was an animal trainer as well as a soldier. Anything he could use that was a natural fighter, i.e. dogs, tigers, snakes, he kept by his side to help him see. Fight-wise, Raiden would have the animals to deal with, but even after he killed them, he would not be able to attack the man until he himself became blind by closing his eyes and battling his opponent in darkness.
Hope you enjoyed these ideas. I may think of more.
TFH :fox:
ThunderBoss - December 28, 2006 04:49 PM (GMT)
Well, I posted that message several months ago, so since than I already thought up an aqquatic character, coincidentally named poseidon. Although mine was a far more down to earth version. Though I came up with that name long before I heard about your own.
I've also came up with another bos that has a strange relationship with animals, though for a far different reason than what you had.
So far within the main antagonist group I've come up with five bosses. There are two other bosses as well, both the leaders of either side of the surface conflict (like the idea within MGS4, only you won't see it until the seccond mission).
I say surface conflict because even the war you'll eventually be thrown into is nothing more than a ploy.
You've already fought one of those bosses, Cmd Sgt Maj Mattias. The other is comming up at the end of the mission.
Anywho, like I said, I've come up so far with five boss characters for the main antagonists. I would like one more, but If nothing comes up, five will be enough.
ThunderBoss - January 9, 2007 12:02 AM (GMT)
Sorry about not having updated in so long. But the holiday season is just so overstimulating that I simply wasn't coherent enough to write something and expect it to be any good. But now that I've finally cooled down from all of that, I'm back and I've got a new piece of the script for Metal Gear Thunder: The End of Eden.
In this part you'll learn a bit more about the Mysterious Woman, and a bit more about the motives of the Abrogators.
BTW, there are some lyrics to a rather famous song in this piece. Try to guess the song!
Now, onto the script!
Murmurs spread again through the crowd as Mattias lies twitching on the grating of the raised platform.
Raiden stands motionless with his P30 pointed toward the limp body in case it moves. After a few seconds, Raiden holsters his P30 and turns around to face the rest of the abrogator troop. They all take several steps backward as he starea at them.
Raiden’s eyes ventured toward the rusted door in the back of the room. He started walking toward it. The Abrogator soldiers moved out of the way while he passed them, not looking at one of them.
Raiden reaches the door and places his hand on the rusted steel. He turns around to find himself surrounded by Abrogator soldiers, all staring at him with a kind of morbid curiosity, and none of them with their weapons raised toward him.
Raiden pans his view across them, a look of confusion on his face. He blinks and suddenly he’s utterly deadpan once again.
RAIDEN
Any of you have a way to break through this?
One of the soldiers nods at him.
Raiden folds his arms.
RAIDEN
Do it.
One of the soldiers steps up to Raiden. The soldier’s M4C is holstered. He wields what appears to be a restored M2A1-7 flame thrower.
He aims at the door and sprays dark red paste in a circular pattern onto it. Around twelve seconds later, the tanks have emptied and a section of the door is covered in several inches of the red paste.
View shifts several times between Raiden and overlooking the soldier spraying the door.
RAIDEN
What is it?
SOLDIER
Thermite in a solution of kerosene and coke.
The soldier unlatches the restored and modified flame thrower and drops it to the ground. He walks back several meters, pulls out his M4C, and fires a single shot into the paste.
The paste ignites in a calm yellow flame. A few seconds later the flame turns blue and becomes much quicker.
Raiden nonchalantly turns around and walks several meters away along the wall and turns back toward the burning paste.
In a few more seconds the fire turns pure white and shoots out from the wall like the flame on the back of a missile. It continues to burn for almost a minute more as thick red smoke pours out from the wall. In a moment the flame goes out leaving a circular hole in the rusted steel door large enough for a man to walk through, and the edges still glowing and smoldering.
Raiden walks to the hole in the door and steps through, not once turning around to look at the Abrogator soldiers, who now gather at the hole to watch him.
[ Raiden is now in a plain square corridor of bare, cracked concrete on either side, and dim, flickering track lights on the ceiling. The corridor makes many twists and turns, and has more than a few forks. Most paths lead to small bedroom sized storage areas without doors. Stored in these areas are little more than broken commercial computer and computer repair equipment, though among the various things Raiden does find is another cardboard box that seems to be falling apart and is held together by duct tape, and a chip for his POCC Suit giving it a new camo pattern.
Eventually Raiden reaches the end of the corridor and a flimsy, cracked aluminum door. The door can be knocked over by kicking it several times.
Beyond the door lies a hexagonal concrete chamber with an even greater diameter and height of the previous server chamber. Track lights along the ceiling give the room a dim orange light.
In the center of the room is a massive hexagonal pillar encased in dirty ceramic armor. The pillar reaches to the ceiling and has a diameter of approximately twenty meters. Flashing lights can be seen through the armor in metal vents placed regularly on the pillar. Connected to each side of the pillar are other hexagonal pillars of equal diameter but only reaching two thirds to the ceiling. They too have flashing lights seen through regular vents. The seven connected hexagonal pillars connect at their sides forming a semblance of a much rougher, more jagged hexagon.
Many sets of stairs dot the room leading to catwalks that circle around the collection of pillars, as do ladders on the walls.
Raiden looks up at the pillars. He glances to the side to see a small hole in the wall where the cords from the other server room extend from and into one of the outer pillars.
He touches his finger to his ear.]

OTACON [Over Codec]
Well, if you look along the perimeter of the six subservers surrounding the main server there should be quite a few terminals connected to it. Though with the conditions of that room their in, there’s probably very few of them working. You need to find one that works. To do that you just walk up to one and press the action button, if it doesn’t turn on, move on to another.

When you find a functional terminal, you will see a specialized Bus connection on the terminal similar to but much larger than a Universal Serial Bus, designed especially for attachment of devices to the AI.

How do you know it’ll be there.
EMMA [Over Codec]
It is the standard form of Bus connection for a patriot AI. Most likely, it will be on all the terminals.
When you find a functional terminal, you will turn it on using the action button, you will then equip the specialized modem on your weapon slot, and press the fire button in front of the terminal to plug it in. I can perform the rest of the operations myself.

There does not appear to be any files of interest within FDR’s entire file library.
RAIDEN [Off Screen]
What the hell!?
Exit view of program.
Codec view.
RAIDEN
What the hell’s going on here?
EMMA [Over Codec]
I believe I already explained.
There are no files of any interest within FDR’s file library.
RAIDEN
Than just what the hell’s with the barricades and the
EMMA [Over Codec]
I do not know.

GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
Try to calm down Thunder Boss.
Raiden closes his eyes and takes several deep breaths.
RAIDEN [Calmer]
Please don’t call me that.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
I’m sure there’s a rational explanation for all of this.
RAIDEN
Rational explanations rarely apply when working for Foxhound General, new or old.
I think you’d have learned that by now.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
Well what do you think it is?
RAIDEN
I think the whole thing was a setup. They did all of this just to lure us out here and then trap us.
Codec signal changes to Otacon.
OTACON [Over Codec]
That’s not possible!
You know first hand just how badly this AI is trying to protect itself. The digital barricade, the massive arms deal with Sasaki Inc. And somehow I doubt its coincidence that the Abrogators showed up when they did.
A Patriot AI just wouldn’t waste those kinds of resources just to ambush a single member of New Foxhound.
RAIDEN
Than let’s see you explain it?
OTACON [Over Codec]
I… uhh… well…
Codec signal changes to Emma.
EMMA [Over Codec]
Occam’s razor.
RAIDEN
Hmm?
EMMA [Over Codec]
It is the essential scientific and philosophical postulation of pragmatism.
RAIDEN
Run that by me again?
EMMA [Over Codec]
Occam’s razor states that when deducing a hypothesis entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity.
We know that a Patriot AI would most likely not feel the need to protect its own existence, nor to spend such vast sums of resources for the sole purpose of ambushing you, therefore we can assume FDR truly was trying to hide something.
We also know that there are no files of interest within FDR’s mainframe.
Thinking within those confines, you may find that there is only two possible explanations for both of these occurrences that are not outlandish.
RAIDEN
Those files were deleted before we got here.
EMMA [Over Codec]
Or someone else removed them.
And given the lengths to which FDR has gone to bar our progress, I believe the latter hypothesis to be the more likely.
RAIDEN
The Rep.!

My thoughts exactly.
A crashing sound is heard in the distance.
GENERAL CAMPBELL [Over Codec]
What was that?

We’ve got company.
END CODEC SIGNAL
Raiden runs over to the edge of one of the sides of a smaller pillar. He presses himself against the wall next to one of the broken terminals. He lifts up his hands and presses several buttons on the small control panel on the back of his left hand. Raiden’s suit changes camo to a dark red and charcoal digital pattern.
Raiden pulls out his dental mirror and looks out from the side of his cover and looks at the entrance to the room from the mirror.
Close up view of mirror reflecting image of room entrance.
The player can shift the direction of the mirror slightly giving images of different parts of the front of the room.
Slowly but fluidly, Abrogator soldiers file into the room in twos, their M4C carbines poised and all of them making sure that no two of them are pointing their carbines in exactly the same direction.
RAIDEN [whispering to self]
Damn it.
View overlooks entrance of room.
The last of the abrogator soldiers file out of the room. The entire troop form a perimeter along the front and part of the side walls of the room.
Mattias steps through the entrance into the room, holding his XM8 loosely in one hand and scowling. Mattias jogs over to the closest wall of the closest pillar and hides halfway behind a ladder leading up to the catwalk. He almost stumbles twice as he moves.
DESMOND MATTIAS [Shouting]
I know you’re in here cream puff!
Why don’t you come out where we can see you! Or do we have to fish you out with tear gas!
View overlooks Raiden
RAIDEN [Whispering to self]
Son of a bitch.
View overlooks a small group of Abrogator soldiers scanning the area with the scopes of their carbines.
Footsteps are heard on the metal grating of the catwalk. The soldiers all point their weapons up toward the sound.
Pan up to the catwalk to see Raiden slowly walking out to the edge.
Mattias steps out from cover and walks toward the sound with his XM8 poised at this shoulder. He settles behind two other Abrogator soldiers and the three of them take several more steps forward. He steps into the open, the laser sight on his rifle steady on Raiden’s head. He Raiden appears undisturbed.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Come on down here!
Raiden glances down to see a ladder at his side. He climbs into the ladder and slides down to the floor on its railings. Raiden turns around to face Mattias.
The other Abrogator soldiers step closer to him with their carbines steady at him.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Nice to see you again.
Raiden turns his side to Mattias, folds his arms and takes a deep breath.
RAIDEN
I thought I put you out.
DESMOND MATTIAS
A few injections of adrenaline and nanohospice and I’m good as new!
Whoa!
As Mattias rests his XM8 on his shoulder and his free hand on his hip he falters and almost falls. The Abrogator soldier in front of him grabs his arm and steadies him.
Mattias reasserts his aim at Raiden.
DESMOND MATTIAS
What is this place?
RAIDEN
Those pillars are the mainframe that holds a Patriot AI called FDR. I’m here to destroy it.
DESMOND MATTIAS
I’ll let you destroy it.
But first I want to know where the Metal Gear’s being kept.
An Abrogator soldier several meters away from Mattias holds a grapefruit sized radome at the end of a metal rod in his right hand. The entire instrument is wired to a very small notebook computer held in his left.
The Abrogator soldier approaches Mattias from behind.
ABROGATOR SOLDIER
Sir…
DESMOND MATTIAS [Turning head back]
Not now Brockman.
RAIDEN
I told you before, I don’t know about any Metal Gear kept here, and frankly I doubt there is one.
BROCKMAN
Sir, this is important.
DESMOND MATTIAS [Turning head back]
What?
BROCKMAN
There’s twenty four of us including you and Thunder Boss right?
DESMOND MATTIAS
So?
BROCKMAN
My AP sensor’s picking up twenty five heartbeats.
Mattias turns and backs into the wall of a Pillar.
All of the other Abrogator soldiers visibly tense up and grip their carbines closer and tighter.
DESMOND MATTIAS
You can’t hide forever chode!
I got twenty two men and the only way out is blocked.
A voice rings out across the room. It seems to come from everywhere at once. A mysterious woman sings a melody of soft classic rock in a deep beautiful voice.
All the Abrogator soldiers turn their heads and point their carbines trying to find the source of the singing.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN’S VOICE [Singing]
Close the door, put out the light.
You know they won't be home tonight.
The snow falls hard and don't you know?
The winds of Thor are blowing cold.
They're wearing steel that's bright and true.
They carry news that must get through.
They choose the path where no-one goes.
The Abrogator soldiers murmur trying to understand just what is happening. Mattias grimaces and grits his teeth. Raiden narrows his eyes and tilts his head in curiosity.
A humanoid silhouette looking to be wearing a cloak, not stealth equipped, but perfectly camouflaged within the shadows of the crevice between two pillars steps out into the light.
All of the Abrogator soldiers immediately point their carbines at the figure. Mattias aims directly at its head. The camouflage of the cloak ripples and turns into a dull navy blue. The supposed cloak is now found to be a perforated, hooded jacked meant as a kind of octo or cuttle camo.
The figure pulls off the hood revealing a familiar woman with cinnamon skin and deep red hair. She smiles.
Raiden squints at her in a very slight confusion.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
Your desperate search for things that both you do not need, and that do not exist.
It merely reminded me of that song.
The Mysterious Woman turns her head briefly toward Raiden and smiles wider.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
Hello again Jack.
Murmurs spread through the crowd.
Raiden looks even more confused.
Mattias raises his hand with two fingers extended and the room goes silent. He reasserts his aim at the Mysterious Woman.
DESMOND MATTIAS
You in charge here.
The Mysterious Woman turns back toward Mattias and shortens her smile.
She looks down and tilts her head in curiosity. A small spider is crawling past her feet. She kneels down briefly and then stands back up, now with the spider resting on her hand. The spider appears to absorb her attention.
She answers without looking at Mattias
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
In a manner of speaking, yes.
In another manner of speaking, no.
The Mysterious Woman’s jacket flaps open for a moment, and Raiden is able to see an external hard drive strapped to her belt.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Where’s the Metal Gear!
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
Metal Gear?
DESMOND MATTIAS
That’s right bitch!
On this island they’re storing new type of Metal Gear, Metal Gear Thunder. It’s built off the frame of an MG Ray, but with a new carbon nanotube hull, and named ater its principle weapon, a coherent particle beam able to sheer right through any known form of armor.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
Oh that Metal Gear.
There is no Metal Gear Thunder.
DESMOND MATTIAS [Shouting]
Bull shit!
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
It’s the truth.
Metal Gear Thunder was a fairy tale concocted to bring you to this island to serve as a diversion for all interested parties, most notably New Foxhound, until I can complete my task here.
I must say you all performed beautifully.
DESMOND MATTIAS [Screaming]
Tell me or die bitch!
The Mysterious Woman kneels down again and nudges the spider off her hand back onto the floor. The spider scurries away.
The Mysterious woman stands back up and finally looks at Mattias.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
I could no more tell you the location of Metal Gear Thunder than I could tell you the location of the magical land of faeries and unicorns.
DESMOND MATTIAS
Have it your way.
Mattias hits the side of his XM8, switching it to full auto, and fires several seconds at the Mysterious Woman.
The Mysterious Woman does not twitch as the bullets hurtle toward her, and then swerve away as they approach within a meter, all flying in different directions. Raiden and the other Abrogator soldiers duck to avoid the fire.
As Raiden and the Abrogator soldiers stand back up, murmurs spread through them. Mattias stares at the Mysterious Woman with a face of shock and bewilderment while Raiden smirks at her.
DESMOND MATTIAS
What is this… new mojo.
RAIDEN
An anti-ferrous shield, it’s probably surgically implanted.
You’ll have to fight her CQC.
Mattias waves his hand in the air in a kind of simplified sign language.
Three Abrogator soldiers holster their carbines and pull out their combat knives. They sneak up to the Mysterious woman, surrounding her on all sides but the front. She does not move, but continues smiling as they approach.
All three Abrogator soldiers strike at once.
The following is in slow motion.
The Abrogator soldier from behind reaches his empty arm around the Mysterious Woman’s neck while reaching around to stab her in the chest with his other. The other two Abrogator Soldiers thrust their knives toward either side of her waist.
In that time, the Mysterious Woman ducks to avoid the arm around her throat, turns to her side to avoid the knife heading toward her chest, and pushes the knife wielding hand, already heading forward, further, into its holder’s gut.
She focuses on her right, puts one hand on the wrist of the Abrogator soldier, and hits the other against his elbow, bending the joint in the opposite direction intended.
She finally stands up and spins halfway around to avoid the final knife and throws her palm up into his nose, breaking it. Blood spurts out of his broken nose.
View returns to full speed.
All three Abrogator soldiers collapse on the ground yelling and groaning. The Mysterious Woman in a flash pulls out her Jian sword and spins one whole circle, slitting the throats of all three of them.
She calmly flicks the blood of the sword and sheaths it.
Murmurs spread through the crowd again. Mattias growls under his breath. Raiden looks on with a kind of morbid fascination.
RAIDEN
Who are you?
The Mysterious Woman turns her head briefly toward Raiden and then back again.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN / EVE
My name is Eve, and I am your future.
EVE

Snake Liquid - January 9, 2007 12:16 AM (GMT)
This story is pretty good. I read the first few chapters and you really have a good idea going. Nice work. I can't wait to read the rest.
DLS06 - January 9, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
Whoa man your stories incredible. Keep it rolling. :)
black_fox189 - January 12, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
Great story! The characters talk as they would in the games. This is the best fanfic I've read in a while! Keep it up!
ThunderBoss - January 30, 2007 01:02 AM (GMT)
This was orginally meant to go all the way to the end of the first mission, but that would've been WAY too long. So I had to settle. The next piece will probably be fairly short compared to this one.
Also, please tell me if the new character introduced in this piece appears to be a bit... dry. I'm hoping it's just me not realizing that a brand new character can't be given a real personality in only a single segment, and that he will take one on in the near future
Also, this portion will show the first sings of Raiden's eventual ability to choose the path of the story by being able to choose alingments within the conflict. But for the sake of simplicity, I'll write Raiden as chosing particular alignments. But if you choose other sides (ally to the other side, neutral, enemy to both sides) the story will unfold differently.
Onto the script!
EVE
It appears we are at a stalemate. I cannot escape, but at the same time you cannot touch me.
DESMOND MATTIAS
I don’t have the time or the playfulness for your games bitch.
EVE
It appears we are at a stalemate. I cannot escape, but at the same time you cannot touch me.
DESMOND MATTIAS
I don’t have the time or the playfulness for your games bitch.
Eve smiles and takes several steps toward Mattias.
EVE
That is an extraordinary anger you display, and unfocused at that. It is self destructive.
Tell me, where does all that anger stem from?
DESMOND MATTIAS [Irate]
That’s none of your god damn business! I’m the one asking questions here!
Ever takes several more steps toward Mattias.
EVE
You don’t want me knowing the source of your anger. It tells me you have great shame as well.
Mattias raises his XM8 at Eve.
DESMOND MATTIAS [Irate]
I said shut up!!!
EVE
You know you can’t harm me with a rifle.
RAIDEN
She’s baiting you Desmond. You’re playing right into her trap.
DESMOND MATTIAS [Irate]
I didn’t ask your opinion cream puff!!!
Murmurs spread through the crowd.
Eve takes several more steps toward Mattias.
EVE
It must be because of your old branch. It is the only explanation.
The Delta Force dynamic is based more on family than on bureaucracy. Your fellow officers and field commanders were your brothers, and your subordinates your sons.
Mattias grits his teeth. His hands begin to shake.
Eve take several more steps toward Mattias.
EVE
And yet they abandoned you. They disregarded family loyalty for nothing more than a philosophy.
DESMOND MATTIAS [Irate]
I’ve got a new family now, one with better sense than Delta Force will ever have!
EVE
But you don’t truly believe that do you?
Every night you must wake up to the horrid images of your own family disowning you for nothing more than an opinion.
RAIDEN
You’re letting her control you Desmond.
DESMOND MATTIAS [Irate]
Shut up!!!
EVE
The source of your anger is painted on your face, but your shame is hidden better.
Still, you have given everything away. I know where your greatest shame lies.
When you wake up night, to the thoughts of abandonment and betrayal, sometimes you wonder… if they were right.
Don’t you?
DESMOND MATTIAS [Irate}
Shut up!!! Shut up!!!
Mattias drops his XM8, pulls out a knife and charges at Eve.
The following is in slow motion.
Mattias digs his feet into the ground and stops less than half a meter from Eve. With a reverse grip on his knife, he swipes at her throat. Eve leans back completely avoiding the knife. She grabs his wrist and twists it to the point of dislocating his elbow joint. Mattias lets go of the knife, which is quickly caught by Eve’s other hand. Eve pulls Mattias toward her and then kicks him in the kidney with her heel.
View returns to full speed.
Mattias growls and snarls in pain as Eve twists his arm around his back. Holding him from behind, she presses Mattias’ own knife to his throat.
The Abrogators take several steps back.
Raiden smirks at the predictability of the occurrence.
EVE
You should have listened to your albino acquaintance.
It seems now that the stalemate is over.
You will all allow me to depart or I will kill your commander.
Mattias snarles again.
Eve backs away holding Mattias hostage. Abrogator soldiers part to let her pass.
Eve backs her way to the entrance, the Abrogator guards part to let her through. Several meters into the hallway, Eve releases the knife from Mattias throat and stabs him from behind through the shoulder. She drops him and then runs back into the corridors.
Mattias falls to the floor growling, clutching the knife blade sticking through his shoulder. The abrogator soldiers run to his aid. They drag him back into the hall and lay him on the ground propped upright slightly.
DESMOND MATTIAS [Growling in pain]
Go! Get her!
All but three of the Abrogators file out of the room.
One tries to tend to his wounds with a backpack full of medical equipment. Two others stay behind to guard Raiden.
RAIDEN
I still have have an AI to destroy Desmond.
Could you at least let me set up the EMP generator?
Mattias grimaces at Raiden for a moment, and then grudgingly nods his head.
The two abrogator soldiers back away from Raiden.
[Raiden equips the EMP generator in his item scream, walks up to the giant set of pillars, and sets it on the ground.
Raiden walks up to Mattias and initiates a conversation.]
Mattias breaths heavily, clenching his face to endure the pain. His coat, Kevlar and gortex shirts have been removed.
The Abrogator Medic holds a large pad of terry cloth firmly against the knife wound.
ABROGATOR MEDIC [To Raiden]
I’m just a first aid specialist; this requires surgery.
[Raiden can choose to treat Mattias’ wounds or not. Doing so will earn him loyalty points with the Abrogators during the second mission.
Raiden chooses to treat Mattias wounds.]
RAIDEN
I know surgery.
ABROGATOR MEDIC [To Mattias]
Sir?
Mattias nods his head.
Raiden kneels down and takes Mattias’ dislocated elbow in his hands. He feels around the dislocation, and then twists the elbow. With a pop, the joint is relocated. Mattias grunts in pain.
Raiden feels around both sides of the knife wound.
RAIDEN
I need a disinfectant and a styptic ready.
The Abrogator Medic pulls a tin labeled Chlorhexidine and an aerosol can with a generic medical symbol. He sets them both on the ground next to Raiden.
RAIDEN
When you’re ready, pull out the knife as fast and straight as possible.
The Abrogator Medic grabs hold of the knife, breaths deep, and pulls it out. Mattias growls and his wound immediately begins bleeding profusely.
Raiden grabs the styptic spray, dugs his fingers into the wound to open it, and sprays inside the wound.
Time lapse.
The aerosol can runs out of pressure. The wound is no longer bleeding, and Mattias is grimacing harder with the pain. Raiden sets down the Aeroson can and picks up the tin, unscrews the lid, and pours the clear blue liquid into the wound. Mattias growls in pain but soon stops.
RAIDEN
Nano hospice.
The Abrogator Medic pulls several large syringes with long needles out of the backpack and sets them on the floor next to Raiden. Raiden picks one up and injects the flesh inside Mattias wound.
Time lapse.
Raiden finished applying the last of the sutures to Mattias’
