Title: MGSF Anniv3sary Contest!

the_cobbinator - November 27, 2006 01:39 PM (GMT)
MGSF Anniv3sary

On December 16th, 2006, MGSForums.com will turn three, and to celebrate this, the staff would like to invite you to participate in another annual anniversary contest.

This year, there will be three categories: Design, History, and Essay.

Design
If MGSForums had an official signature, official seal, official avatar, or official wallpaper, what would it look like? Images can be any size, but the submitter must specify what size (in pixels) image they are submitting.

History
MGSForums has seen many quality members come and go. One member in particular knew Solidus fairly well, and the two posted a few topics about various activities they did together. Unfortunately, he has not posted on the forum in about 7 months, but has shown up as recently as September. He was active in both the Off-Topic and Metal Gear Solid 3 Theories forum, and also started one of the larger topics in the Opinions forum.

Essay
You are to write an essay entitled “MGSForums: The Past, The Present, and The Future.” It will discuss ideas on how MGSForums’ past has contributed to the status quo, and hypothesize on the future of MGSForums, given its present state and changed in the past. This topic is purposefully open-ended, and there is no “right” answer. Well-supported arguments and accurate references will determine the best paper. I would recommend doing a but of research on the forum's history. This forum (Announcements) would be a good place to start. This link might be of some interest as well. There is no length restriction nor is there a length minimum - just write clearly and use proper grammar and punctuation.

So What Do I Do?
You will PM all of your answers/entries to me either as a whole, or in parts, by no later than midnight, December 16th, 2006, CST. You must use the topic title “MGSF Anniv3rsary – insert your username” The staff will judge the Designs and the Essays, while the History answer will be taken into consideration should there be no clear winner.

If you need clarification, post in this topic. Chances are that your question is someone else’s question. Prizes will be announced after the competition.

Good luck, and most importantly, have fun :)

Awesome! :D But what is the History part about? Are we supposed to guess who that member was?

Well, hopefully you'll be able to find him based on the information given, but yes.

Nice this will be good. Does the Design part mean a new skin?

Does it have to be all of those or can it be just one?

RossSP - November 27, 2006 05:20 PM (GMT)
I already put in an answer for the hisrtory question. :)

the_cobbinator - November 27, 2006 06:10 PM (GMT)
Just one is required, but feel free to submit an entire set if you so choose. If you want to take a crack at skinning, feel free.

BigK - November 27, 2006 11:09 PM (GMT)
Sounds sweet, I think I'll just try out history, since I hate essays, and design isn't my thing. :D

HolySpawn - November 27, 2006 11:17 PM (GMT)
So what about my question lol?

Midna - November 27, 2006 11:22 PM (GMT)

So what about my question lol?

Read my post. It answers it directly.

But to re-iterate: You only have to pick one. If you would like to submit one of each, or any combination, you may. If you want to create a new skin, you may, just send a link to the test forum you have made that contains the skin.

edit: It would be preferable that you enter in all of them, as it increases your chances of winning, but it is not required. It doesn't really need to be an essay, either. Just think about it as a long post.

Btw Dani! Awesome sig!

Well this is going down the pan. We thought members liked these type of things.

Well no offence intended but I think last years was better, for several reasons.

1) It was just before Christmas & I mean in the holidays so people had more time on there hands; I mean at the momment I'm busy with coursework and barely have time for the forums as it is let alone time to enter the comp.

2) The comp's were clearly set out in there own sub forum; sort of hard for people to avoid it if every time you log on the forum it's visable.

3) They wern't just judged by the staff, some of the comp's were left to the members which I thought was a nice touch :)

All in all I think it was a case of bad timing, I'm not trying to be a prick and be uber critical but there my feelings on the subject.

Anyway I was planning on entering but as I've already said I'm a little busy at the momment ;)
