:S 'it was the original and everyone had big heads?'
Not sure what you meant by that..
Errr..anyways..theres more than a few things wrong with this remake..the over the top matrix style cut scenes..annoying..the added cheesey one liners for snake..cheesey..the voice actor change for some of the characters..stupid (apart from gray fox he sounded better in my opinon)
Foxteam - January 30, 2007 11:30 PM (GMT)
by big heads i ment that in the remake they had bigger heads than normal
a_shizno - January 31, 2007 02:34 AM (GMT)
The remake doesn't have bigger heads, I bought it before I got the original. It worth a rent, but if you didn't have the original and you find it for 10 bucks then buy it. Ofcourse, it is ALOT easier do to the MGS2 control so if you like the originals diffculty, stay away.
hippobean - February 1, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
the remake is ten times better, i dont think you understand. MGS2 is just a crappy collectable. Substance has better everything and has ten times more stuff! Jesus christ!! :raven:

Uh, we were talking about The Twin Snakes. Infact, scroll up. You see what forum this is? It is The Twin Snakes forum. What exactly does MGS2 and MGS2: Substance have to do with TTS?

Another attempt to bring back a classic game series to Nintendo fans. Like Final Fantasy, this really started with Nintendo fans, even though it came out on the MSX or whatever it's called. You honestly can look at it this way. I loved it, would never put it down if I had all the time in the world lol. It depends on the person I guess. There are so many more MGS games with better than MGS 1 graphics, it's really nice, especially now to see a complete remake rather than something like...I dunno, can't think of a game but anything that's been simply graphically enhanced. New cinemas and stuff yay. I was disappointed VERY much they took the VR missions out. I think they did, correct me if I'm wrong.
SnakeInIceland - February 24, 2007 10:58 AM (GMT)
I was disappointed with the game as a whole... A half-assed approach to remake a classic...
The Merciless Warrior - February 24, 2007 12:01 PM (GMT)
It was worth it if you never played the original. But overall the original was better. You can see some of the PS actions on the Gamecube and the conversion was not that good. But Twin Snakes did satisfy me because of the better graphics, so it was not dissapointing. I liked it but yeah the original is the original. They should have remade it for the PS2 instead of the gamecube.

The PSX version is by far the better one! When I played it for the first time, it grabbed me, and didn't let me go untill I was off Shadow Moses. The action, the voices, even the music is in TTS way different than the original. I expected to get the original feel from the game that made me a fan in the first place, but all I got was overslicked movements, controls that were too easy, and the classic dialogues that were changed. I'd stick to my dearest PSX version, the one that made me a fan seven years ago....

I don't know why you guys are complaining about the voices for. Other than Gray Fox the rest were the same. The only thing was they used different names at the time of the release of the orginal game and Naomi and Mei Ling's accents were removed and Nastasha's was toned down.
However seeing as I only played the original on a demo disk I can't really have an unbiased opinion. Though I'll still say it - I LOVE TTS. Especially since now it's cheap and will fill up that void of the original game that I tried to close when I bought the DGS.

Yeah, i really hated the fact thatMei Ling's accent had disappeared. I loved it in the original

This is known already.

They could've done a better job. I don't know whether they were recorded together or solo in the first one, but the way this was recorded makes the voice work seem flat and bored. Campbell seemed to have lost all emotion, I found the DARPA Chief sounding a bit like Stillman(I know the same actor voiced the DARPA Chief and Stillman).

I really hated that. I mean the new guy did a good job and all, but Greg Eagles is the best voice for Gray Fox.

That was a stupid choice. Why change it. It makes no sense, it was fine the way it was. Naomi seemed the most bored without her original accent and I found her character was somewhat lost.

I played and beaten TTS a few days ago and thought it was ok compared to the orginal but... I thought they could have done way better on the voice acting and the music, i enjoyed very much the MGS sound track for the PSX more than TTS. I liked the fact that they've gone and redone most of the sound effects for the game, also Clearing of a room, and of course shooting in first person mode...and the matrix style effects, they were cool but it doesn't really fit the mgs series a whole lot, those are some of my pros and cons of this game.

Didn't Greg Eagles do the voice for the Darpa chief in TTS?

And in MGS1.

Yes, he did. He had two roles in the original MGS1: Gray Fox and the DARPA Chief where he used the pseudonym George Byrd. But why they changed the voice for Fox in TTS is something I don't understand.
The Twin Snakes - March 29, 2007 12:12 PM (GMT)
I like TTS and MSG the same, i should really play though MSG1 again took ages to get it and i only played it once....
redfox45 - March 29, 2007 02:50 PM (GMT)
the only things wrong with the twin snakes are little things like the fact that the supressor doesnt appear in the cutscenes when you have it equiped and the lack of vr missions
and more significantly the fact that the emotional bits had no emotion like the sniper wolf scene...i felt nothing and the original still upsets me.
The whole thing seemed rushed and that little care had gone into it
Johnny-Sasaki - March 29, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
To be purely frank about this the cut-scenes were actually pretty good. They were meant to emphasize that even though Snake was in horrible situations that he still is in fact SOLID SNAKE.
People who think the matrix scenes were unnecessary should burn in hell. The entire point of some of the matrix scenes were to put an emphasis on Gray Fox's abilities. I mean c'mon think about it. He's wearing a suit that greatly enhances his own physical skills.
Anyways back to the cut-scenes. Hideo probably just wanted to jazz things up since pretty much all the scenes in the original looked like total and complete crap. I don't think he should be criticized for something like that.
SolidSnake52 - March 29, 2007 07:36 PM (GMT)
I thought that TTS was too easy with FPV shooting and all. The classic brought out the action we all know and love

I never had a problem with the cutscenes, my problem was that they were concentrating so much on the hardcore and not enough on the emotion (which in my mind was what made mgs unique)
but the matrix scenes kicked giant a*s
UrbanCombat - April 4, 2007 11:25 AM (GMT)
In my opinion, I think this game is much improved. For starters, we can actualy see some kind of emotion in the characters faces and the voices dont sound all 'computery'. The cutscenes are really cool, so much more diverse. In this version im at the bit where you have to pick up the PAL key from the drainage ditch.
Quick question: Is there any hope of survival when the alert is red? apart from walking out then in again... i have only managed to elude the guards twice in this phase.
rayofdoom - April 24, 2007 10:15 PM (GMT)
Rex was more mennasing in the original you could feel those thuding stomps, had me cowarring in a corner shittiing my self for ages!!! but in this version, nah... lookd awsome but acted more like a parrot to me with those nodding motion lookd like it was doing squats.
Zeroth - April 25, 2007 03:46 AM (GMT)
i personally like the original better only because it is what i grew up with and its so much more old school. if you are looking for better graphics and cut scenes, then twin snakes is better.
oh yeah and i personally like the music in the first one better
redfox45 - April 25, 2007 05:37 PM (GMT)
There are some bits that were not really suited for a console like the GC like the "dont think shoot" bit, everytime I do that bit its an ugly mess of a fight
