tsuchinoko finder - March 4, 2007 03:58 AM (GMT)
has anyone actualy baught this? i had seen the first one it came with the walk through i baught for mgs3 it seemed alright but are the rest any good?

g-fox - March 4, 2007 05:04 AM (GMT)
well i doubt it you can probably just get it on youtube for free but someone's bound to have it...sorta

Metal_girl_Solid - March 4, 2007 11:10 AM (GMT)
Well, I got it, since it was the cheapest MGS game avaible (When I was broke that was). I liked it for about a week, but that memory building thingy drives me insane! I still haven't figured it out, and I already got the game6 months. It's a nice game if you're a MGS game collectr (Like me). But for serious gamers, I would stay away from it

SnakeInIceland - March 4, 2007 02:32 PM (GMT)
I bought it. Cool comic animation and sound effects, but the DGN's scenes are based to much on TTS action scenes and they add a lot of crap in that wasn't really needed. The Mantis fight was a bit cool... The memory building is a little annoying.

Helikaon - March 6, 2007 01:47 PM (GMT)
I bought it, regretted if after I found it on You Tube...

MAHooson - March 6, 2007 05:24 PM (GMT)
i bought it, a nice addition to the mgs collection

sadistic_greyfox - March 6, 2007 06:29 PM (GMT)
I got it as a christmas gift from a friend, i liked it. too abd it doesn't follow the exact story but stay the same throughout the game.
talking about the physco mantis part.

MAHooson - March 6, 2007 06:51 PM (GMT)
the bit with mantis was weird, do you mean when he tricks you into thinking you're in the metal gear hangar with Master Miller?

sadistic_greyfox - March 6, 2007 07:48 PM (GMT)
yup that part. does really follow the story of the first metal gear.

Metal_girl_Solid - March 8, 2007 02:05 PM (GMT)
I thought it was strange as well. I can get real bitchy when someone tries to change the MGS story, even if it's a tiny bit. Hence why I played TTS just one time

a_shizno - March 9, 2007 06:52 PM (GMT)
Well, it's better then the actual graphic novel (no sounds or voices), but the recovered memory is a bit boring (I rephase that, I actually fell asleep doing it). The reason for the change in the Mantis fight is it wouldn't be like actually playing the game, switching the control ports and such, so they wanted to do something that shows off Mantis's power (and throw the viewer off, I thought they really f*d up the story.). All in all, I'm glad I got it (my computer sucks so much I can't watch videos!).

Platinum Shadow - March 9, 2007 10:38 PM (GMT)
I'm SO glad I bought this. I lack the original game and TTS so I decided I needed something to fill in that empty gap of MGS that my life had and I was extremely happy with it. I kinda like the memory recovery mode thingy, I don't do it for hours on end cause that's freakin' insane and stupid. I'll play it whenever I get the chance too at school, or whenever I'm feeling bored and unable to connect online to play MPO.

redfox45 - March 29, 2007 09:13 PM (GMT)
no i am sick to death of this story if your going to tell a story in digital graphics, tell the story of the metal gears, less people know it in detail

Buffy - April 8, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
I got the game, it's fun. But i really woulnd't call it a game though, more like an electronic book.

Trane - April 10, 2007 12:13 AM (GMT)
Jesus buffy, topic's a little old don't you think? Was it neccassery to bump it?

Ah, I "bot" a couple of them, wasn'treally impressed though.
Just for future reference it's not spelled baught, it's "bought".

micster - April 10, 2007 12:17 AM (GMT)
Not bought it yet but to get my mgs-game collection completer i'll need to get it soon

profsim - April 11, 2007 08:42 AM (GMT)
Its brill, nothing like increasing your MGS knowledge, it's cos of this game that I found oot aboot the Meme, Gene, Scene thing that MGS "supposedly" stands for. Plus there's the fun of connecting all the memories and reliving Shadow Moses again and again and again........

JSudds1223 - April 30, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
I won't.

I jus watched the grey fox story on youtube, and they've changed the story around and the charactors say things they would never say in the game.

KaneKurupt - April 30, 2007 11:04 PM (GMT)
I havnt got it. But dont buy it until I do first. Xd Its very rare and will be super expensive in 10 years. So just in case you dont take my copy, let me buy mine first, then you can do what you want. hehe.

rayofdoom - May 3, 2007 02:36 AM (GMT)
im planning on getting it soon, since my student loan came in wooohooooo,

anyway, i already know how the story goes, its the same as the actual IDW comic books.

i bought them all.

currently on sons of liberty it gets more interesting because it goes about the pliskin story more than the game did, i dont know when the digicomic is out tho.?

and they use the same kinda thing with the cut scenes in portable ops which i think is clever.

sadistic_greyfox - May 4, 2007 05:47 PM (GMT)
so like is the grpahic novel's official stories in the mgs universe. or jsut slightly modified?

BTW does the MGS2 one show you how snake got inot the plant and obtained the navy seals uniform?

..Liquid.. - May 11, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
Bought it a couple of days ago, just wanted to see it and own it. I'm a collector of everything from MGS you see.

NickRocks - May 12, 2007 09:30 PM (GMT)
i had all the comics, but then i moved so i bought the DGN and im glad i did.

for the people who complain "they changed the story around"....artistic liscence! much better than rereading the game.

as for the art, its not ashley wood at his best. keep in mind that this was the first time he was really drawing metal gear. he wasnt nearly as good as he is in MPO, which explains why alot of the story is just TTS screenshots he painted over. hes alot better in the sons of liberty comic.

its fun to watch. i still turn it on just to watch the ocelot fight sometimes. that shit is intense.

God Told Me to Skin You Alive - June 3, 2007 01:27 PM (GMT)
I'd buy it if I had a PSP and the money, but I likeMGS too much anyway. So meh.

Midna - June 8, 2007 10:57 PM (GMT)

pobthiti - June 29, 2007 06:30 PM (GMT)

yea i used to be, ive got the firts 4-8 issues of the comics in mint condition lol and there gonna stay that way :P

I'd like the comics, but the DGN doesn't have much of a replay value. Nothing like MGS games. Of course, that's because it's more of a comic/film, but pretty short. I'm not so sure was was entirely wrong with changing the story though, although many people complain about it. There are new scenes which give new insights into what was going on at the same time as Snake was sneaking around. MGS is pretty well known for lengthy cut-scenes, so I would say that the DGN is pretty much one long cut-scene, for a great price.

The 'memory' thing, hmm... I found that extremely annoying. I gave up trying to collect every 'memory' for it when I heard that there was nothing new that opened up when it was complete. I thought they could have put in a few extra pages of the comic to add to the story or something if you managed to complete the library...

the_cobbinator - August 20, 2007 12:51 AM (GMT)
I stumbled on a lightly-used copy yesterday in a GameStop while I was in Schaumburg, so I picked it up for $20, along with a new copy of Acid2 for $10. Now I just have to get a PSP, I guess ^_^

rob - August 21, 2007 06:55 PM (GMT)
:haha:

Well I found the DGN over here for £9.99, so that was pretty good going I think.
