Thx g-fox, and BigK, I meant an avatar-size image, not the full size KP logo. I got tons of those images, but no GFX maker :(

"Gimp 2.0 installation path could not be read from the Registry. Please install Gimp 2.2.8 or later first"
Where can I install that at?
g-fox - March 14, 2007 01:39 AM (GMT)
well at teh top there is gimp 2.2.13 it's the first download if your computer is windows 2000 or higher you need teh GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment (version 2.10.6, for Windows 2000 and newer)
or if it's 98 or lower ya need GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment (version 2.6.10-20050823, for Windows 98 and NT4)
which is below the gimp download
you need one of those to run gimp

Hey g-fox, in reply to your question in the other thread, it took me some tinkering with photoshop and imageready to figure out how to do it, but what I did for example with the regular fade in and out avatar is select the part I wanted to fade, and made that a seperate layer by itself. If you're familiar with Photoshop, it works in layers, so that everything else stays the same when I edit one layer.
What I do is have all the layers in order and everything that's static all done, then I switch over to ImageReady (there's a button on the bottom of the tool box) and I select the layer (in this case his name) and set the master opacity to 0%. Then I duplicate the frame in the animation window 10 times, for a total of 11 frames, and make the last frame's layer's master opacity 100%. I go on to select all frames and click tween frames which sets each frame at an equal multiple of 10, so frame 1 stays 0% frame 2 10% frame 3 20% and so on, so it creates a fade effect. I usually don't go above 5% per frame now though because it looks too choppy. I made the Med Corps button this way (too bad we can't USE IT LOL ;D)
For the one where it fades from left to right, I've tried to find a way to do this more easily but so far it's the only way I can figure it out. I use a similar method to the previous, I cut each letter out and make each letter a layer, so I can mess with the opacity for each when on whichever frame I want without having to worry about changing other letters or images. Then I start by tweening from 0% to 100% in 5% intervals the same way I did last method for the first letter/layer. This is where it starts taking time, since tweening anything at this point will screw up the first letter (haven't figured out a way around that) I start at where the first letter/layer has a master opacity level of 35% and change the second layer's master opacity level to 5%. I continue this pattern until it creates a left to right fade effect. Now to save time, I just made each letter disappear after the fade, plus it actually looks kind of cool, like it's shooting off or something, but for the Med Corps button for example, I basically do the entire process in reverse, which is what takes the time even further, since it's pretty much the first half doubled.
I'm thinking about the possibility of making an animation template where I can just select the layers I want and paste an image or any text in there, but I would have to put 20 layers just in case there's a long name or something, but it would eventually pay itself off.
Anyway, this is all in Photoshop and ImageReady, so I don't know if that will give you ideas for GIMP or other programs. I'll take a look at GIMP after I delete my useless partition with Vista RC1 lol so I get some space. (only have 100+ MB left XD)
Oh I just realized, something you could do g-fox is go into paint and create images in this way: say in this case you were dealing with orange text on black. Well you could go into paint, and perhaps use a color a few shades darker than the first one you do, and at reasonable increments continue to increase the darkness, and create the order of images. I guess it would be a bigger pain in the butt and take some time to perfect but that's really all master opacity did in this situation. The only time opacity levels show their true power is when you have something that's in front of multiple colors. That starts to get cool. Especially with glow 'n' stuff lol.

LOL nice. Ok, I'm sorry I neglected to mention even though I thought of it vaguely, I've only worked with Photoshop 7 and CS2 and both versions' ImageReady, so I don't know about other versions. I've been meaning to get the beta of CS3 lol omgosh I'm going to do that now.
