Title: A petition for MGS on PS3
.:Meryl:. - July 20, 2007 11:06 PM (GMT)
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is coming on Sony PlayStation 3, and it - as Hideo Kojima said during the last E3 - will be the last one game of the twenty-year Konami saga. So we thought to start this petition to support the realization of a PlayStation 3 remake for the best game ever made: Metal Gear Solid. It would be a great tribute for the twenty-years of the saga, almost ten years later the release of the first Solid chapter on Sony PlayStation.
Who wants to substain this initiative can help us signin our petition, that we will signail to Konami with every determination.

I love MGS. I signed.
But don't you think TTS was enough?
.:Meryl:. - July 20, 2007 11:15 PM (GMT)
I think no, because I know a lot of people that loves MGS but never played Twin Snakes 'cause it was on GameCube. The number of fans that bought a GC only to play TTS was truly limited...
micster - July 20, 2007 11:17 PM (GMT)
Bah, Gamecubes are like £30 now - the price of a game, It dont warrant another remake.
If anything i'd prefer to see full 3D remakes of MG and MG2

That is very true, I wanted the game badly but to tell the truth it was the only game on the gamecube i was ever interested in. I would love to see a real remake too but somehow i doubt it since the release of TTS just a few years ago.
A-Yty - July 21, 2007 12:00 AM (GMT)
Not signing. There was TTS already.
If I wanted any kind of remake anymore, it would be of MG and MG2. But I'll be fine if MGS4 is the last MGS ever.
CrapEater9000 - July 21, 2007 03:00 AM (GMT)
Except TTS wasn't nearly as well made as the original MGS. They really stepped down in EVERYTHING but graphics and gameplay. The cut scenes aren't anywhere close to how substantial and awe inspiring the first game's were. All they really did was up the action (mostly ruining, rather than making things cooler) and prolong the irrelevant stuff. Oh, and the lack of some of the best pieces of music during certain scenes really brought it down.
I'm for micster's idea personally. Although I'd love to see an updated ps3 MGS1 (as long as they keep the same voices, script, direction, music, etc - why mess with perfection. All that needs changing is added gameplay, more easter eggs, maybe a survival system, and ps3 graphics of course), I think MG and MG2 need more recognition, and these days it's going to be a lot harder trying to get people back to playing stiff and limited nintendo games. I'd love to fully explore the worlds of the original two in 3d with updated visuals. :thumb:
.:Meryl:. - July 21, 2007 11:43 AM (GMT)
We are fighting for a remake made by Konami and Kojima Productions, not by Silicon Knights. Only Kojima-san knows how to made a Metal Gear game.
Time ago, I have already signed also the petition for MG and MG2, anyway.
ichbinscissors61 - July 21, 2007 12:56 PM (GMT)
I signed. I can never have too much MGS. I have both MGS1 and Twin Snakes and I'd happily pay for a ps3 version. Call me weird, but that's what I want. One thing I didn't like about Twin Snakes was the aiming system and the noise the guns made when aimed. It just felt a bit odd, It would be better on a PS imo. Silicon knights didn't do a bad job, but they can't compare to Kojima.
Btw, where's this petition for MG1 and 2? I'd like to see those done as well.
snake_ultsol - July 21, 2007 02:07 PM (GMT)
MGS on PS1 was the best, the remake in my opinion was not up to the mark. I am not really keen on seeing MGS1 on PS3 .. that's because I am scared they might screw up .. Well, what the hell .. I am signing the petition.
NINJA - July 21, 2007 07:15 PM (GMT)
I signed.
Nothing can beat MGS for PS1 imo, but I wouldn't mind a remake for PS3. This game was awesome without having good graphics. So imagine it with good graphics.
sotyrulz - July 21, 2007 07:59 PM (GMT)
I will sign under the following conditions which must be met in order for this remake to not dissapoint everyone
1. DO NOT CHANGE THE CUTSCENES: The cutscenes in the original game were realistic to a certain degree. Twin snakes had cutscenes that were absolutely bogus, waaaaaaaaay too many acrobatics and not enough realism, who the hell does a backflip over a missle, are you kidding me? LEAVE THE CUTSCENES ALONE
2. DO NOT CHANGE THE DIALOGUE: The dialogue in the original game was amazing, it was everything it needed to be to astound all of the players. The twin snakes was not bad at all, they kept alot of the original dialogue but there were suttle, uneeded changes to it. Leave that alone too.
The original game was the best game in all of history, since then not a single game has ever compared. It was well worth the $75 i payed back in 98 ( :
edflam311 - July 22, 2007 02:43 PM (GMT)
Getting a remake by Kojima Studios simply will not happen, i'd prefer MG 1 and 2 first. Unsigned

I completely agree. As soon as I saw that part in a trailer I had serious doubts about the game... made me not even want to play it. You could say they... "John Woo'd" it.
UrbanCombat - July 22, 2007 10:31 PM (GMT)
C'mon guys its not that bad, Snake can do anything. I thought it was all pretty cool, I love the impossible sometimes, and lets face it MGS has never been realistic. It's a good game.
I would not mind a remake on the PS3, I would buy it and i'm sure any other fan would aswell.
B.O.S.S - July 23, 2007 01:25 AM (GMT)
signed......but i would not hold my breath for it.......to be honest i would sooner have mgs2 remake for the ps3.......mgs1 is good but there has already been a remake, two would be too much...(make a remake that is worth buying....) :P

Same here, they don't need to remake MGS it's fine as it is, considering how Twin Snakes turned out I say no.
Snake Liquid - July 24, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
I'd just rather have a port of TTS from GC to PS2 or something like that. I really doesn't matter that much. But as said before, online petitions don't do anything. There was one to save MGO and over 1500 people signed it, but the game still got closed down anyways.
NickRocks - July 25, 2007 04:07 PM (GMT)
didnt sign. what id like to see is a port of MGS2 for PSP (because PSP can handle those graphics) with the 3D camera.
Young Snake - July 27, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
Personally, I don't want a remake of MGS. The original MGS is very nostalgic (the old graphics, the music and the voices). Making an updated version would've been cool, but they've already tried with TTS. Metal Gear Solid is a great classic, let it remain one.
I agree with those who wish for 3D remakes of MG and MG2. How cool would it not be to explore the past battles between Gray Fox and Big Boss, plus seeing Solid Snake when he was way younger? Though it's tougher to construct the boss battles in a 3D world, I'm all for them trying.

I'd love a 3d remake of metal gear 1 and 2, tho I wouldn't mind a remake of Metal Gear Solid. BUTTT!! ONLY UNDER ONE CONDITION!!!
NO GAMEPLAY CHANGES AT ALL, ONLY GRAPHICAL!
Delayed//// - August 8, 2007 08:33 PM (GMT)
No need to sign . As they said earlier. There is no point realy. Cause no matter if 2,000 persons would sign . Still they will just look at it and laugh.
Twin Snakes were horrible. With the voice change on Gray Fox , Meryl . There is no excuse for it. No excuse at all. Is George Byrd dead? cause thats the only reason to change Gray Foxes voice. And meryl ? Did Mae Zandler die so that they had to replace her with Debi Mae West ?
Don't make another remake of a perfect game. there is no need to. MGS 1 is MGS 1. Thats it.

I agree with the Gray Fox part, his voice is irreplacable, but dude, Mae Zandler and Debbie Mae West are one and the same. She used Mae Zandler as an alias. It's obvious...as both names have Mae in them.

How come to voices are not the same ? I mean ofcourse its worse quality on the voices in the original, and therefor I might belive it to be a diffrent person. But when I listen to her talking. And when I see "Debi Mae West" instead of "Mae Zandler" I asume its a diffrent person and therefor I can't just leave it.
But are you 100% sure that Debie Mae West is Mae Zandler ? Just because both got Mae in the name doesn't mean that they are the same. (Or is it I who have missunderstood anything?)

I found this forum yesterday. And I just have to say that this is a realy good forum . I started to go through my MGS collection and then I just had to find a forum. Glad I found this one ^_^

100 % sure :)
At least they could remake Metal Gear, when Snake is at his youngest.

Debi Mae West is in fact Mae Zandler. I don't see the point in changing Debi Mae West to Mae Zandler . Realy . What was the point of that ?

Actually, I'd very like much to have the original Metal Gear Solid completely redone exclusively for the Playstation 3. I'd like some little tidbits here and there just to give it a higher replay value is all.
- I'd add different bandana's as awards for completing something in the game, such as the wigs Raiden gets in Sons of Liberty. Each a different, yet cool, color.
- I'd add the MP5 rifle, suppresor compatible, featured in the Very Easy mode in the PC version of Metal Gear Solid. It'd be nice to have a silenced rifle such as the AK featured in Sons of Liberty.
- All the A.I. for the game's enemies would be equivelant or higher compared to those from Guns of the Patriots. Such as affecting the enemy psychologically.
- More lockers would be found throughout the game rather than the few Twin Snakes featured. You would be able to lock them as well, being able to completely secure a fallen enemy within.
- All VR Missions would come included with the game, as well as extra "live training excersizes" featuring things like an obstacle course, or something similar. Bonuses such as new outfits for snake can be awarded for completing them.
- The knife is added to the inventory at the start of the mission.
- Snake has the ability to dispatch the enemy using CQC moves, such as throwing them on the ground, knocking them out with a single blow.
- Both MG and MG2: Solid Snake are included in the game.
- The electromagnetic field equipment featured in Sons of Liberty capable of deflecting bullets can be aquired by collecting every last dog tag in the game.
- Snake can remove/equip his snow vest. If he chooses not to wear it while outside, his health diminishes. I don't know why, just thought young snake would look cool with MGS2's sneaking suit on. ^_^
Wow! That's a alot I've chosen. Oh well, it's never gonna happen. anyways.
SnakeInIceland - September 7, 2007 11:37 AM (GMT)
If TTS taught me anything, it's: Don't remake classic games because the remakes will suck no matter what.
Just let the franchise die after MGS4. Personally, I'd rather see a re-release than remake or just a brand-new non-Metal Gear title from Kojima.

I agree MG and MG2 remakes would be awesome, but i think because the ps3 is soo high tech it would be pointless to make both individual games but putting them on ps2 would be a great idea i think as the game isnt very long it would be jus as good as mgs3 on ps2 or xbox, MG and MG2 is a good way to go, but anyways i voted yes for the petition, i would like to play metal gear solid with all new graphics

The reason why the majority of the original voice cast in MGS1 used pseudonyms was because they didn't know whether the project was union-sponsored or not. David Hayter and Doug Stone were the only members of the cast who didn't use pseudonyms, however in the instructions manual (I think it's mainly the European one) David Hayter uses the pseudonym Sean Barker.
So the cast's real names are
Cristopher Fritz = Christopher Randolph
Paul Otis = Paul Eiding
James Flinders = Cam Clarke
Patric Laine = Pat(ric) Zimmerman
Carren Learning = Jennifer Hale
George Byrd = Greg Eagles
Chuck Farley = Peter Lurie
Julie Monroe = Tasia Valenza
Bert Stewart = Allan Lurie
Frederick Bloggs = William Bassett
Renne Collette = Renee Raudman
Kim Nguyen = Kim Mai Guest
Dino Schofield = Dean Scofield

to be honest the first game is the best.

I say no, It would really piss off the VA's, having to repeat a whole script for a third time, and slightly changing the script again to keep it from being boring wouldn't work, because there'd be to many changes. Plus, it's hard to insert extra stuff in a linear type game. Don't kill the original, It's still perfectly playable
Gene - October 26, 2007 01:09 PM (GMT)
i signed would like to play mgs again with ll the fancy new moves and graphics

That's a fair point, but why couldn't they just use the original voices from MGS, just update it visualy and update the game?
Keez - January 13, 2008 01:12 AM (GMT)
I played the remake Metal Geat Solid TTS an yes it was good, an obviously better cos everythin was the same jus better graphics. But come on, all they done was update the graphics. The could've done much more like when u complete it a certain amount of times or something u are able to play through the games as the ninja. Cos i think everyone will agree with me that the Gray Fox is by far the best, an most minted character in the game!!
King Snake - January 13, 2008 02:41 AM (GMT)
TTS was enough, there should be a remake of MG and MG2.
TomWolf - January 17, 2008 08:12 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure that a remake is really needed, I mean the graphics are dated but that's about all, what would you really want changed? If it's the gameplay, then TTS braught it up to the first person veiw standard, and CQC and a stamina bar or psyche bar arn't really needed because the game is set over such a small time frame. Really I'd like to see the origanl as a download on PSN.
