Title: I was kind of disappointed by this game..

Breif rewind for you guys- back when I first got this game, I was into watching G4 (God what a mistake I see that as now) and when I saw one of their previews for this game I heard them mention something about "finally playing through the Big Shell as Solid Snake". As joyous as I was leading to the game's ultimate release a few weeks later, I skipped to my nearest retailer, bought the game, smiled at the cashier cause she was sexy, got smacked, went home and I unwrapped the sucker and played it only to find some text-based, super difficult headache inducing bullshit known as the "Snake Tales" mode in place of what led me to buying the game in the first place. I'm not saying the concept wasn't inventive, but Konami could've gave us a more original setting with this mode and spared us all that reading crap. Having us progress through the C4 hunt storyline from Snake's eyes would've been a real creative addition. I would've loved to see all of Shell 2 and anybody that agrees with me should post in this topic.

I agree. I'd have loved to see the Big shell from Snake's perspective. I've always wanted to go to the other struts and it would have been good to battle Olga again. I did enjoy the Snake Tales, but they were over far too quickly (10-15 mins) and despite most people's opinion, I found them easy.
I enjoy going everywhere possible in my games and it was annoying that there were areas I couldn't access. Perhaps Kojima should have delayed the release a bit longer and added this in. The vr missions weren't bad but got a bit repetitive, and the skateboarding was hardly Tony Hawk.
I did enjoy Substance and I'm glad I've got it, but it would have been quite a bit better if it had the option to play as Snake.

I too would have loved to play through Snake's portion of the Big Shell and I would have been happy to wait for that. They could've put it on the PS2 version since the Xbox had a year(?) of exclusivity for Substance. I'm sure they could've finished all of that up within a year, but I suppose Kojima and his team were busy with other stuff.
G4 had only one show that was worth watching: Pulse, and it was to see how much cleavage the babe of a co-anchor was showing.

i think most everyone would agree with us...we want to play through the game as solid snake but the snake tales were pretty cool i liked the one where you fought Meryl the best and the casting theater is awesome i love putting it on random and seeing an old lady kill the seals and drink that one guys blood it's hilarious! the skate boarding was alright and the v.r missions were difficult the FPS mode especially but all in all this was one of my favorite games in the series

attack of the show is retarded, and that midget on xplay needs to let his shoulders down. god i hate G4.
anyways....yeah, i cant complain about substance. sure snake tales were retarded, but the extra cutscenes in the main game, the vr missions, and the boss survival artwork kept me content. that and they fixed the thermal goggles.

I agree, it would've been much better to play through the Big Shell part of the game as Snake and get to see all the other struts, but I still liked Substance. I thought the Snake Tales were awesome little short stories... if not a bit too short, and the VR missions added much more gameplay to the game. I liked the bonus Documentary disc as well, was cool to browse through all the artworks, models, level designs that they didn't use etc.
