Title: Metal Gear Solid 2: Bande Dessinee
Description: a.k.a Digitial Graphic Novel 2

OcelotSnake - July 24, 2007 12:00 PM (GMT)
Well it's no surprise to hear that Kojima Productions are releasing a follow up to DGN in the form of Metal Gear Solid 2: Bande Dessinee (Japanese title). However there's one major change in comparison to it's predecessor...it now has voice acting! (albeit in Japanese however there is a strong chance this will apply to the english version).

The trailer is now up on the Kojima Productions 07' Event Page:

Also I took the liberty of collating the available screenshots. Enjoy ^_^

Awesome, indeed!

I can’t wait for this. Should unravel a few untold truths of Sons of Liberty – which is truly tremendous for any real MGS addict. ^_^

Additionally, voice acting should be great!

agreed. this will be awesome.

if they do the English voice acting for it with cast from the original MGS2 and even take some from MGS4 Then it will be even better!

Yeah I hope they put that voice acting in there and of course i'm going to get this in a heart beat. hopefully they dont pull that sorta "psycho mantis" stunt again.

Then there's the awesomely hypnotic soundtrack and the thrill of joining memories, I dunno about you but I found the memory part the best!

In the first DGN during the Psycho Mantis Boss Battle it showed an alternate unraveling of the tale instead of an actual battle, due to the fact that they really couldn't do possiblely the best boss battle justice in comic book form.

Anyway, the first DGN, I thought, was better then any UMD movie and an awesome telling of MGS1 (save for the above) and can't wait for the second.

OcelotSnake - July 25, 2007 05:45 PM (GMT)
The second does deviate from the origional story a lot more than the first DGN did. The current SOL comics feature Snake battling Ocelot, using CQC, the appearance of Karen Hojo (from Policenauts) at the beginning of the story and Ocelot having in deapth hallucination's featuring the Sorrow and Liquid Snake talking to him among many other changes. I personally like the changes in the first series of comics and the second, considering the comics arn't cannon who cares?

these additions sound awesome but are they official to the storyline?

I don't think so... The DGN was an alternate story for the story, not canon as far as I remember so I doubt Bande Dessine will be canon

ALthough I have always wondered what Snake gets up to on Shell 2... especially how he defuses the bomb on the guards back he mentions...

Are you sure? Everything in the original DGN was either done or implied (save for the Psycho Mantis battle) so I don't see how it is non-canon. I'm not sure the contents of the SOL comics, but if it's like the MGS1 comics, it should be canon.

This will be interesting. I'm hoping for something a little more fun or quirky than the memory-building 'game' that came with the first. That made it annoying. The layout and chapter select could be made easier to follow. But the story should be good to see in comic form.
