Title: MGS 2: Cannot start playing

I cannot start playing the game.
After selecting new game (or load, setings ...) from the menu it returns to the screen "press start".
applied patch 2.0 for ATI
Config: AMD XP2500, 1GB, DirectX 9.0, Radeon 9600 XT
Any suggestion?

Maybe you are just pressing the wrong button. The PC version controls are a little bit dummy, you know...

If you have vista, that might be the problem...
Of if you have the X-FI soundcard, that might also be the problem, disable that card and use the one built into your MOBO

Traditionally in Japan they use the PS' X button as the "cancel" button and the O button as "ok / verify, etc".
This means that if you press the equivalent X button, it brings you to the previous screen, which is from the menu the "Press start" scene.
However if you were pressing the right button, then I'd say that you're screwed. <_<

That is definitely going to be the problem.
Whichever key is usually cancel for the games you play?
Press it as OK.
Someone really ought to make a topic on this and pin it in every MGS forum just so people stop asking this question.
