Title: Dogtag Bullets
the_cobbinator - September 16, 2007 03:21 PM (GMT)
Early this morning I changed the forum descriptions around so that the subforums appear as part of a list marked by little dogtags, in case anyone was wondering. My question, though, is what do you think? Different image, same image? Any comments or criticisms would be appreciated.
Thanks ^_^

Personally I dont like the massive spacing out between the links. I prefer how it used to be
Midna - September 16, 2007 03:32 PM (GMT)
I dont like it as much, sorry... although i like how you cleaned up the forums. like having an MGO forum is cool

I was wondering what the hell happened. I can't see anything. All I get is a big massive space between the links. :(
OcelotSnake - September 16, 2007 03:37 PM (GMT)
I actually really like them despite the stretching, more metal geary' ^_^
the_cobbinator - September 16, 2007 03:46 PM (GMT)
If you're not seeing the images, it's probably because you're using Internet Explorer. For whatever reason, IE doesn't want to show bullets at all, let alone the dogtag ones. Firefox works fine, and I would advise switching to that anyway, but I'll try to fix the IE bug when I'm at a computer that has IE installed. The stretching between links can be fixed with a little tweaking to the styles. Right now, the width of each list item (the link) is a percentage of its container space, so on large resolutions, you'll see a huge gap. I'll change that to a pixel width of, say 300 or 400 pixels and see how it looks.

yeah that makes sense. Because i dont see any dogtags or bullets.
the_cobbinator - September 16, 2007 03:51 PM (GMT)
Ok. Imagine this

next to each item, and that's what it should look like. I changed the width of the list just now. If you're on an 800 x 600 res. monitor, you might get a little overlap. I'll see if it's fixable, though.

Personally, I love them, and I'm also happy that I switched to Firefox a few weeks ago, haha.
Corpse - September 16, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
Look really good.
Been using firefox for a long time, so it's all good :D.
krypton_ls - September 16, 2007 04:38 PM (GMT)
http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/firefox/Go and get it now, all of you IE-using freaks. :P
Well done Cobb.
NINJA - September 16, 2007 05:02 PM (GMT)
I'm sure it looks cool.

It looks cool.
BTW, I prefer Internet Explorer but I use Mozilla quite often.
Snake Liquid - September 16, 2007 05:25 PM (GMT)
I've got Firefox, but I'm used to IE, so that is what I use.
It is kinda annoying in my opinion, simply because it stretches the screen too much. On Firefox, it looks pretty cool though.
sadistic_greyfox - September 16, 2007 05:50 PM (GMT)
It's alright, I don't have any problem with it. For the guys who don't like it give it some time, sometimes you jsut don't like the changes right away.
Dani - September 16, 2007 08:20 PM (GMT)
I use firefox...and it looks pretty cool to me. Small, but refreshing change. :D

Could you post a screenshot of what you're seeing?
black king - September 17, 2007 12:13 AM (GMT)
i can't see the image but i can see they've changed. i like it. but if i could see the tags i'm sure it would be awesome.
Markthecool - September 17, 2007 12:35 AM (GMT)
I like it but the stretch is kind a annoying.
ichbinscissors61 - September 17, 2007 12:38 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I think they are a good idea, but the stretching of the forums is odd and I can't say I like it.
Oh well, I guess it isn't too bad, I can put up with it. :D
the_cobbinator - September 17, 2007 12:54 AM (GMT)
I have no idea what you're talking about so please take a damn screenshot. I changed a couple things around, so let me know how it looks.
And for the love of God, switch to Firefox.
Markthecool - September 17, 2007 01:03 AM (GMT)
It looks fine to me now and yes I always use firefox and thank goodness it has spell check or else I be misspelling a bunch of words.

Just chill, Bazz *

Whatever the case, though – it’s probably just to do with the resolution you have on your PC. So, people with smaller monitors and a lower resolution won’t get the same view as those with a large monitor and higher resolution.
In any case, here’s a picture of what you
should be seeing:
New Sub-Forum Picture Thingy (I chopped it up just a bit) By the way, thanks for taking all the credit for this idea, Bazz! ...I feel so used... :(
the_cobbinator - September 17, 2007 01:12 AM (GMT)
Sorry, Tam :(
All credit for the idea goes to Tamashi. He, in his infinite wisdom, pointed me to a site that implements this technique automatically, which is pretty awesome, but sadly not in the realm of IF's capabilities. So I adapted it to work with IF, and will put some time in this week to fixing it for all browsers.
And sorry if I sound peeved, but saying "the stretch is annoying" clearly doesn't tell me a whole lot.
Shyne-Bryght - September 17, 2007 03:27 PM (GMT)
I like it, I don't see the dogtags but the bullet spacing looks good, improves the look of the homepage, I say keep it :) Nice job.

g-fox - September 24, 2007 01:32 AM (GMT)
i had firefox before but my mom deleted it,so i downloaded it again and everything was fine, but the next day IE and FF were going really slow,so i deleted FF,and IE was still going really slow,so i tryed to instal FF again but the transfer rate it downloads keeps getting lower, the first 2 times i downloaded it in like a minute, now it keep getting lower and the time it takes to download go's to about an hour,so instead of "running" the program i "save" it to a folder and it download fast, but it i can't open it it say's "not a valid win-something file" and i have to delete it,what gives
