Title: Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions
Mortiska - October 16, 2007 01:07 AM (GMT)
I remember buying this (now almost unheard of) spin-off game of Metal Gear Solid called VR Missions way back in the day. It was a little while after I bought the original MGS on PS1. I thought some of the stuff in it was pretty strange actually, especially the giant genome soldiers and shit. It had some very weird shit that's all I remember. Now forgive me for not being able to say too much about this one, but come on guys it's been like 8 or 9 years now since I last played it.
Surprising to see that nobody else here has been saying too much about this one, although I guess it must be almost impossible to get these days as it's pretty old. It wasn't really anything special, and of course the original killed it by far. But it was interesting and did evolve (eventually) into all of those vr missions and stuff Kojima included with MGS2: Substance and MGS3: Subsistence so you gotta' give it credit to an extent. Just thought I'd mention it in here to see what people think.

yeah!
I loved it.
of course, as you said, it couldn't live up to mgs1.
but, I'm sure it wasn't meant to.
it was a test run, I think.
like, I've heard it said that portable ops is in some aspects like a test run for some features on MGS4.
I think maybe that's what VR Missions was doing; testing some things they might try in the future.
Especially the Ninja levels.
that's pretty much Raiden, what with the addition of the jumping and the sword and all.
Regardless, it was fun and well worth the $4 I coughed up to rent it.

MGS VR missions was a great game, i still play it to this day and it never lost it's coolness and authenticity. It's games like VR missions that get people to keep playing them because theres an ultimate goal to aim for(getting 100% complete)

Yeah I have it aswell, in Perfect Condition too :D. It was hell random how I found it, I walked into Cash Converters looking for MGS1 and I found VR Missions.
Good Fun, but I got stuck ;_; On a level were you have to throw a grenade at a soldier on a platform then he falls back on another and so on.

haha i remember that level and they all fall back like dominos
also the fact that they included VR things in MGS2 is pretty neat.......except for nude raiden!

I have never played as nude raiden im still on ninja raiden. <_<

If VR missions are (in the game) intended to train the solider for certain conditions, are they training Raiden to be naked? What does that say about him......haha o_O
Gene - December 8, 2007 12:17 PM (GMT)
Haha yeah it might be training him for erm streaking?

I´ve only played this with my friend, and I actually loved some things in it. I liked this detective mode or whatever it was where you had to follow sootsteps to find who had done something etc.
One main question: is it anyhow possible to find this anywhere? I suppose the prize wont be so much, so I could buy it if I only knew where.

You're going to have to play it on PS1.
It never seems to work for me on PS2.
