Title: Rushed VAs?

kkarbo - October 23, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
I watched the remade part where liqiud gets in rex, and I noticed the cam clarke and david hayter seemed to be 'were doing this for the money' acting, rather than the actual emotional scene in the original game. Any thoughts?

Well, The Twin Snakes (if that is what you are on about) was a Hollywood-ised remake, so I doubt Hayter and Clarke would be too happy about it. Plus they probably had to rush it, I do enjoy the game but find it lacking compared to the original.

they also changed the script as well, not majorly, but enough to make a difference, and i didn't feel that helped the VA.

That's the section I put it in

I guess they wouldn't, but they're both experienced VA's you'd think they'd put more effort in , even if they didn't like doing it

I agree, playing this after playing the original kills it, there's nothing special about it

Well, Hayter apparently gave up half his paycheck to get the original Voice Actor's back to do the remake, so at least he'd be happy to do it. And I thought that those two did a good job anyway, it's Master Miller, Mei Ling and Nastasha that I thought were a bit weak.

I heard about that. But compare this:

to this:

and you can see what I mean, for example, liquid is more cocky in the original, yet he sounds more 'normal' in twin snakes. Although on watching the remake, david hayter sounds better, with the anger, until he stops, and becomes calm, for no apparent reason

also, going off topic, why with the acrobatics? It makes the coolness of liquids character
go down

God Told Me to Skin You Alive - October 24, 2007 02:38 AM (GMT)
I think the acrobatics was just the cut-scene director's little flairs (I can't remember his name off-hand... I know he did Versus) though I think it adds to Liquid's character, if only a little.. the cocky, arrogant, "superior" side is brought out by the unnecessary flips and spins, innit.

kkarbo - October 24, 2007 02:44 AM (GMT)
I don't think so, it makes him look queer. Now, i just noticed grey foxes voice. All I can say is WTF??

I now see what shyne bryght means about it being hollywood version, with throwing the katana into the radome. Just why?

And another thing, liquid seems more overly agressive, rather than the (relatively) calm, cool portral in the ps1 version

Shyne-Bryght - October 24, 2007 11:16 AM (GMT)
The the fight cutscenes are ridiculous, but are quite good to watch, makes Snake look more macho.

But yeh, Liquid sounds better in the remake, sounds more angry, but his cocky side doesn't come out. Plus the echos are taken out that were in the original.

The acrobatics are ridiculous, makes him really poncy and camp :) Too many crazy gestures aswell :P

kkarbo - October 24, 2007 03:07 PM (GMT)
I guess they were trying to make him look more crazy or unstable, but it makes the game different, changing his personality

LOL Is it my game or when Meryl gets shot and Campbell calls u and sais "Meryl...", you can here someone in the background say "Colonel?" :P Sounds like a small error in the VA to me cuz theres no text reading "Colonel?"!
