Title: Flatmates
Smoggy - October 28, 2007 02:21 PM (GMT)
I need to have a bit of a rant as i'm stressed out today 'coz of my scummy flatmates.
It the end of half-term week and everyone went home 'cept me as it costs far to much to get home. so I stayed in the flat at college. Everyone said they would tidy their stuff up and clear out food from the fridge before they went so the flat wasn't a hell hole for me to live in (10 girls in a flat, and it's worse than the lads' next door!) I went to work on the yard and came back at 8pm to find or rather not find the sink. Everyones washing up had been left around and in the sink. Meg who stayed too was pi**ed like me so we purposefully bought 2 more washing up bowls and filled them with everyones stuff and put them out of the way for them to do when they came back. The kitchen was tidy for the next week. There was also a really funky smell coming from the fridge. Anyone ever seen semi-liquid peppers? There was also mouldy cheese and sour milk and other bad food.
Everyone has come back and instead of washing up they have left the stuff in the bowls and started using mine!! It's so aggravating as i am a bit of a clean freak and don't like people using my stuff!
I want to shoot them all for leaving me to live in somewhere like that!
:guns2:
Does anyone else know or live with people like this?
krypton_ls - October 28, 2007 02:51 PM (GMT)
Haha yes - reminds me of a combination of this academic year so far and also my shocking experiences last year, which was my first year at University.
The building I stayed in had five floors, (first four floors for 11 people each, and the 5th only held four people) and it was bang in the middle of the city centre. (Sheffield)
99% of the people were your typical student types - party, drink, sleep - rinse and repeat next day. They were kind enough to wake up the whole fucking building most nights, and raided whatever edible-looking things there were in the fridges. So you could guarantee come morning - apart from the fact you only got 30 minutes sleep because of the blatant disregard of these retards, you also now didn't have anything to eat either.
So I calculated my average weekly losses on food I bought for myself, that was not consumed by myself, to be around £5.... perhaps even £10 some weeks. Just plain wasted. I'd rather have burned the cash than let these dickheads do it for me.
Coupled with the fact that there were two girls either side of my room - one was okay, and the other was a fat piece of shit from a not-so-great area of the country - she had the worst accent and was the typical "daddy's girl" figure and established herself as the leader of the pack. (floor)
She'd also occasionally bring back a male friend, and given the walls in this place were practically made from paper.... well, I'll get you guess what she'd try and do with whatever poor random twat she'd found down at the club.
So please - try and imagine that FOR A YEAR if you can, coupled with the other morons in this hellhole, also trying to have fun yourself on the Internet and playing games etc, which brings me to the other sore subject area: our net connection.
The retard landlords - under the names of Rodgers and Whitaker, (hope Google indexes this post asap) went out and saved themselves a shitload of money. Right, so four floors of 11 people, and the four people on the 5th floor... right, so that makes 45 students that will require Internet access. The landlords' office just so happened to be on a main street in Sheffield, called West Street. The shop next to them was a crap, shitty computer shop called N2C Systems, and the three dickheads inside there are a bunch of foul-mouthed, rude and ignorant bastards. Our landlord paid these slackers, and cowboys at their trade a measly amount of money to supply our building with a connection. They installed two standard 8MB Internet lines, that you'd normally get in your own home. Now imagine that shared between 46 people. Exactly.
So my first year was crap at that place, and consequently when I went with some friends to complain to the computer tards in their little shop on West Street, we got banned from the shop by a short fat man who had problems standing still, and got abuse from the other two who were saying under their breath stuff like "fucking kids" and all this shit. I can only but hope Google indexes this fine post and those retards read this. Next time I see one of you.... fucking start running you morons.
/end rant.
Happy days... not.
Smoggy - October 29, 2007 12:05 AM (GMT)
Well this is only my first year at uni/college and unlike poor you we have a fridge and freezer full of food but most of it is out of date and people just refuse to bin it! Princess Lana can't clean for herself but can make one hell of a mess. She gets right on my wick sum days!
Whoever lives above me annoys the s**t out of me with their loud but crap music cant tell wot it is but i have resorted to throwing socks at the roof to get them to stop.
And living on the ground floor with a gravel path outside is driving me to insanity.
I not in a city centre, when people ask where my college is I can only say the middle of fricking nowhere, but for the countryside it's still pretty loud out here. Our internet connection is brill but phone signal is P**s poor, certain places can get signal but you are usually balanced in some strange way on a fence or out of a window
Another thing that annoys you is FE students, the little 16/17 year old pricks who think there god gift and follow you home from the bar (they hang outside) And Farriers (I shouldn't get started on these as i'll need an entire new topic! they are a bunch of goons as well. (I'll leave it at that)
I'd love to scream about everything that annoys me in the privacy of my own room but the wall are a slight bit on the thin side, so everyone will hear. Also I cant rant to people back home as they get sick of me. So this is my little ranting haven. If it gets too much tell me to shove off! :P
This is not a ranty moment but does anyone think it's funny that in our fire drill it took the first people 1min 30sec to get outside, this was our flat. We are on the ground floor, were sat in the kitchen which is the closest room to the front door, and only moved a total distance of 20 meters! And we were congratulated on that? :D
krypton_ls - October 30, 2007 09:35 PM (GMT)
Your profile says Teesside... that place was actually on my UCAS shortlist of Uni's, but I never went to the open days as it was either #5 or 6. ^_^
Haha, and yes - fire drills at my place last year practically killed me. Aagin, the first 3 months were a nightmare - the drunken bastards would roll in at 1-3am, and set it off or whatever, so the entire building would have to get out, throw something on and stand outside in the fucking cold for 30 mins - 1 hr, whilst we waited for the landlords minions to arrive.
Plus they didn't own up to it sometimes, so that's probably why I only received around £50 back out of my £150 original desposit for the place.
And that's another thing - take photos of EVERYTHING near you, like the state of your room etc, so when it comes to getting it back, you can complain if they rip you off like me. Sadly, there's nothing I could have done as the bastards on my floor were the ones that ripped the sofas (a very long list of desruction in a year, here) so thanks to them - I lost £100. Neat-o. Not.
Smoggy - October 30, 2007 10:11 PM (GMT)
Ha Ha better than me I didn't even look at six uni's! I looked at Aberystwyth, Lincoln and Warwickshire.
Teesside is a great place to live well most places in Teesside are good! Uni managed accommodation is S**t! My older brother lived in a house with 2 of his mates and it was a hell hole! The roof was leaky and the electrics in the bathroom were dodgy! But the uni's ok, especially the student bar - not a bad place for live bands!
I'd have no problems killing this lot if they break something and we have to pay for it! We already have a formal warning for having 'an inaccessible kitchen'.
At the moment I'd rather be back in Teesside, As nice as my flatmates are, they are a real bunch of scruffy f***ers! And Bev is really annoying the cr*p out of me trying to copy my accent every so often she'll say something the blurt out 'that was Teesside!' When it clearly wasn't. Do you have this problem with new people?
I really miss my mates from home and my family as a matter of fact! LOL It's still another 6 weeks before I can go see them! :(
krypton_ls - October 30, 2007 11:36 PM (GMT)
Yeah, my new landlord at my new place, (a proper house, 4 beds, so 4 people here) pops round sometimes to generally check up etc. Although the people here never clean anything at all - the normal jobs that would be done at home etc are never done, so he keeps telling us to do them.
Apart from the fact that two of the people, (the third is my friend) are just generally really annoying and the whole house has fallen apart with other problems concerning us lot, so we rarely speak and just the though of them makes me want to just... aargh, I don't know - they just make my blood boil thinking about these beings.
And yeah - 6 weeks, perhaps one more, then the hols. The bonus for us is that we get nice long holidays at Xmas and the summer, but I don't reall care for all the half-term stuff that you used to get back in school and college anyway - it wasn't necessary, really.
Solid Snake The Great - October 31, 2007 06:37 PM (GMT)
Why not try organizing some peace talks? Implement some ground rules, starting with the golden rule; clean up your own shit. That's what I'd do personally. Alternatively, you could just split the house into two. And I never get homework over the summer holidays, so I don't know where you got that. :P
Smoggy - October 31, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
:pk1: happy Halloween! :pk1:
We've had talks and it just dont work I gave up a long time ago now and only clean my s**t up anyway.
Splitting the flat up is impossible as we all have lectures together.
We still get half terms as technically we are a college, but we are moderated by Coventry uni so I do get a distinguished degree out of 4 years here. I like them they let my brain have a rest and i means everyone else goes home so you get some peace and quiet!
Krypton ... I know the feeling - indescribable rage against tw*ts that live around you (not with you as they always seem to go against the grain!
krypton_ls - October 31, 2007 11:20 PM (GMT)
@Jake: Peace talks? Haha hell no - already tried to, but instead I have been yelled at once in the past by the bitch. They don't deserve my time of day.
@Smoggy: And yeah exactly - it's at the point now where they make me and my friend want to hate them... but at least I can provide that with great ease.
Smoggy - November 1, 2007 11:03 PM (GMT)
well theres only going to be 9 of us in my flat now, 1 is quitting her course, but she is one of the neat ones!
I finally got so pi**ed off that I have had to tell them my medical history and that they may actually be killing me as I pick up infections etc at the drop of a hat so hopefully (Crossing everything) they may be a bit cleaner so that they don't physically put me in hospital.

Medical condition?
Anyway, I've stayed with people that I don't know and they were f-ing bastards about this type of shit.
Besides that, I'm hoping that me and my friends...(codemaster57, and Sanderz) will be able to get a flat or something for our college years. But I swear if they get like that I'll beat the living s**t out of them.:killer:
:P

I've had heart surgery (really long time ago - 18 years actually) so i pick up infections easily. I got bitten by my friends horse 2months ago, it was only small laceration on my thumb but was sent to A&E by my yard manager where I was give some kick a** antibiotics that seem to resemble some sort of horse sized table (they were huge!) and had to go bad for 2 check ups! over a scratch! But I do have a deformed thumb nail now which is slowly growing out!
I've only known these people 6/7 weeks now they all from the south and midlands where as im from the north east, they are already p**sing me off summat rotten by calling me a geordie and trying to imitate my accent!
I'd kill half of my flatmates if i didn't need them to help me complete my assignments on time - i'm such a lazy f**ker when i want to be! :D
codemaster and sanderz don't seem like bad lads to live with but I only know a bit about them and for only a couple of days!
(God i can rant when im tired! well I'm going to bed now talk to you tomorrow or later today over here!)
krypton_ls - November 2, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
Sounds like a pretty rough ride for you here and there, Smoggy. :S
Let's hope the current situation gets better and that something comes of it.
Keep us posted.
Smoggy - November 2, 2007 09:59 PM (GMT)
OK bit of an update....
One of my flatmates - Meg - left today to go do another course! It's a shame as she was one of the clean ones! so a bit of a bummer! :(
And KtBt has left a pan with floating crap in it (again!) Last time she did this we left it in her room for the weekend and post-it noted her room! But she's locked her door..... Smart move Bt! ....... smart move!
Canard - November 3, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
Though I have nowt much to contribute to the topic and it's quite harsh in the context, heh. You got bit by a horse. Awesome. :P
Anyhow, short of screaming at them to clear up their own fucking mess (which will come naturally if you're THAT pissed off), you'll have to put up with it. Mad shouting's the only way to go, I'd really say though

I have tried everything from asking and begging but you forget that I have to live with these people for the next 6 months so making enemies of them all is not on the top of my agenda.
Especially as I don't have my car with me and live miles away from a tesco and stuff to do my shopping, call me selfish or shallow or whatever, but I only need them so that I can eat! And I cant shout coz I get really worked up and will punch one of them then be thrown out of college so not a good idea really.
As for the horse bite not funny I had to live without the use of my thumb for 2 weeks until the bit of bone that had chipped off healed! I wasn't allowed to ride or anything, but was still managing to drive! :P
krypton_ls - November 3, 2007 12:54 PM (GMT)
Sadly, as I did - you will have to grin and bear it.
If only there was some way for me to have told the new people that moved into my old place not to do so - I would have strongly recommended they go elsewhere.
But a friend of mine actually remained there, and I have been back since to see him, and the place seemed okay - he said not fire alarms at 3am or anything, and I saw a few people and they seemed okay too. It's also about luck... I mean at first when I was there we all go along fine.
Then you get the types who want to rule the fucking place, and it all kicks off from there, sadly, and goes straight downhill.
Smoggy - November 3, 2007 11:43 PM (GMT)
I had to laugh at what was suggested today people said 'why don't we all live together again next year ?' I wanted to p**s myself with laughter but just stuck with the slow not quite agreeing nod. I wanna live in again next year as getting in and out of this place is virtually impossible but I would rather live with new people as there are so many people on the yard that I work with and get along a lot better with that these!
@Krypton: I can only grin and bear it for so long as self proclaimed 'queen bee' princess lana will soon be on the receiving end of a mighty slap! :D
krypton_ls - November 4, 2007 01:18 PM (GMT)
Well as I said - you will be the odd in-duh-vidual that will try to take control and be the self-proclaimed leader... which sucks and there's not much you can do about it.
But just remember that they will be the fool next year when they realise that the people they hang around with actually don't like them and do not want anything to do with them.
Also, some people will already start thinking about housing next year (only natural) so just laugh internally which should keep you relatively happy each time you hear them discussing it. If you are happier there, but do consider moving out, as I can guarantee that you will be screwed over by the landlords regarding your deposit, and make a list of the good and bad reasons for staying or moving. ;)

Thats some good advice. Thanks!!
have you ever considered being a councilor? you really do know how to make people feel better!
Smoggy - November 14, 2007 01:36 PM (GMT)
ok little update on the situation, they have been ok with me since i came back. (went home of the weekend - 4 hours on a train, stupid delays!) But yesterday I had a fall when me and my horse Pikey disagreed on which way we were turning, so instead we split up he went left i slid out the side door to the right, gave my shoulder and head a bit of a wack, anyway got back to flat with a massive headache so took pain killers, they were going out on the night i was gonna go but as i was feeling as bad as a dog i stayed, but they kept insisting that i came with them but it just didn't sink in that alcohol and ibprofen aren't a good mix, even if i had gone and didn't drink i wasn't gonna follow them round all night and seer them out of trouble all night I've done that too many times!
So I have come to the conclusion that they aren't just aggravating they are plain stupid too!
*Deep breath in, deep breath out*
Ok Rant over! :D
Gene - November 14, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
Sounds saft i would of thought sitting and resting would of done your head better not drinking and going out. Spose they just wont have fun without you :P
Smoggy - November 14, 2007 10:58 PM (GMT)
Hahaha life and soul me! :P
I no drink loads anyway and student night in lemington is pretty sucky!
I did feel better for staying in and watching films all night, but a hot shower was a big mistake as all my muscles hurting now. I realized just how many I had used when falling off! wait till im off the pain killers and there 4 bottles of magners with my name on them. :P
Gene - November 15, 2007 07:22 PM (GMT)
Ah magners my old friendbaths are normally good for mscle pain anyway.
Smoggy - December 12, 2007 10:55 AM (GMT)
this is not so much of a rant... compaired to usual :D
I have just realised that there is a much better atmosphere in the flat when Bev and Lana go home. Everyone seems to talk to each other and not have crappy little groups that bitch about each other. And yesterday we had a flat christmas party and evryone got on soo well because they wernt here! It is either that or that I have been drinking sooo much in the last week that everything feels different... :P
