Title: Remake of MGS

S-Pod Beavidy - December 20, 2007 04:30 AM (GMT)
Is buying a gamecube the only way to get the remake of MGS ?/

Jazrock - December 20, 2007 04:46 AM (GMT)
As far as I know you have it right, game cube is the only way to get it. Honestly though, if you want my opinion (I’m going to give it to you, but do with it as you please), it’s not worth it. I don’t want to spoil any aspect of the game but I found that through the reworked cut scenes they changed the flavor of MGS. I do admit that the new game play a la MGS 2 does add a cool touch, but I loved MGS as much for the story as I did for the game play, and so this new version doesn’t really sit well with me. If you do give it a shot though, have fun with the game cube controller :P

There's a PC port, but that's not a remake. Yes, gamecube is the only way. But i'd advise sticking with the PS1 version

Wow out of all systems.. gamecube.. wow.. lol

These guys make it sound like it's terrible, it's not & i played mgs1 psx first i mean sure psx has a better feel, music but TTS has up-to-date gameplay and the've both got the same story anyways the thing i hate about TTS is the OTT cutscenes they really piss me off. Not to mention mgs1 meryl has a nice full round feminine ass when she runs away from snake but in TTS meryls ass looks like some anarexic marylin manson ass. How can up-to-date graphics have such a shit looking ass compared to the psx ass, anyway enough about ass.
If yo've played mgs1 already then i think TTS is a good experience.

Hehe I hear ya on the ass thing.. All these girls are assless in games, they need a nice juicy booty for the male leads/players to enjoy.

Yeah, I'll give the game a try when pigs fly because thats when I will own a gamecube.. Silly Konami..

Yeah I didn't care for the controlls too much. You had to press like all the buttons to run and shoot at the same time and it was a pain in the ASS!

Is it just me, or does the newer version have worst voiceactings then the original?

I havent played the GC version, but for all the clips I´ve watched so far it just doesnt feel like the original and most of the athmosphere was gone. It´s probably a good game, but real HC fans, would never say it´s better than the original PS version, at least in my oppinion. Little offtopic, but I felt like I had to say my oppinion on this.

TTS was good in it's own right but it's more for people who started on MGS2 rather than the older versions for PSX & PC. I did play it a few times and sure a few cutscenes were a bit over the top but it's still a good game in it's own right.

Yeah, what the hell happened to Gray Fox's voice?

Although, Snake's voice sounds much clearer and better.

jc55 - December 30, 2007 12:07 AM (GMT)
The DC remake got a little Matirixy I hear, with snakes reactions being comparable to those of Gray Fox in some of the cut scenes. What they should have done was to simply aim to better the graphics and nothing else. When you start messing with a formula that works so well, you are bound to disappoint. It's madness I tells ya.

S-Pod Beavidy - December 31, 2007 05:07 AM (GMT)
Was David Hayter in the ps1 version?

The main complaint about that certain stuff is about Snake jumping on a missile and then firing another missile, but in my eyes thats not that bad, it's all relative. The Metal Gear series lost all "It's not real" stand points the moment it introduced nuclear weapons carrying bi-pedal tanks, which would be back in 1987.

Seeing James Bond or Captain America (which both have done, many times) jumping onto a missile isn't seen as weird or unrealistic.

The problem with the remake was it was a 6th gen game, but it still had the 5th gen environment, which means it was too easy.

jc55 - December 31, 2007 12:41 PM (GMT)
The thing is, I always found that the single most important aspect of the game was the sense of realism, perhaps not the story line itself, but the character snake. They hit a great character equilibrium with the original, but when Snake starts wushuing his way around the battle field and treats heat seeking missiles like rodeo bulls, then you begin to create problems. For instance, the impact that Cyborg Ninja had with his general acrobatics isn't quite as captivating if you see Snake performing similar actions.

As for Bipedal tanks, that might not be quite as far fetched as it seems, given that the military is assumed to be about 20 years more advanced than the current 'cutting edge' technology. There is a lot we don't know about the military...

The Voice acting was the biggest let down for me, Especially Mei Ling not having her chinese Accent. Naomi Hunter also just sounded very un enthusiastic about her dialogue (which is funny cuz thats how she sounds in the SOCOM series reading mission briefings). Still the Voices wernt bad they just didn't flow as well as the PS1 game. Overall I still prefer the gamecube version.

solidfox - January 5, 2008 05:56 AM (GMT)
Did I really just read this whole thing and see everybody agree that the only way to play is on the Gamecube...cause you can play it on the Wii as well...w

But anyway, I bought a new system just to play it...and let me tell you...totally not worth it, you'll be let down. I let them both collect dust before I sold them off.

It had a fucking close up of her ass and it had for a reason, so you can tell her apart from from the male guards later and guess what that was a part of gameplay, yes GAMEPLAY!!. Plus we all know kojima puts in sexy bits for his fellow male audience to enjoy and i did not enjoy that skeleton looking ass 1 bit, I was trying to make a point that the PSX one looked better which does not make sence graphics wise. And c'mon man look at MGS 3 with the little R1 button thing & EVA, your telling me they were thinking of gameplay when you had the option of looking at EVA's tits? no? I didn't think so.

Whatever floats your boat doubleo.

I've always been more partial to Sniper Wolf than Meryl, but I won't argue when it comes to EVA.

I'd say my main complaint is that the level design barely changed, which was bad because it was the exact same levels with a nicer paintjob which meant the addition of FPS made it way too easy, even European Extreme, all you have to do is pop the guards from 50 foot away, this is especially prevalent on the Metal Gear hangar, where you can take out all but one of the guards from the door if you're a good enough shot.

I personally have never minded the OTT cutscenes, not even the rocket one, because it's entertaining.

Yeah your right, i'd say the Gamecubes version of european extreme was the controller, lol.
