Merry Christmas, everyone!

As I'm sure you've noticed, I've changed the skin. It's quite a departure from any of my other designs, and things like the buttons to post, quote, PM, et. all, are a bit more plain than before. The main reason for this is that I ran out of time, but I'm also curious as to what you all think about the concept. It'll load a couple seconds faster without the images, and is a bit more flexible if colors/sizes need to be changed.

Any other comments and/or criticisms are welcome. I haven't tested this out in any browsers other than Firefox 2.0 (which means IE7 should be fine; probably not IE6, though), so do report any bugs with screenshots and whatnot.

Nice one Cobb. Looks great. Wondered what had happened to the site when I first clicked it, haha. But for me, in IE, the site is aligned left, but is perfect in Firefox. :)

Ah, well.. to be honest, I don't care for the colors.. I see why you used green (it is a Christmas color, after all), but I don't think it goes too well with the black at least, and the shades of both the red and green aren't very Christmas-like to me. I don't know really, just something about the colors sets me off a bit.

EDIT: The size of all the text is also a bit larger.. which I can't say I care for.

Other than that, I can't point out anything that bothers me too much. Merry Christmas!

Yeah, it was a little surprising when I came on here this morning, it does look very different to normal, I'm not sure if it's an improvement on the usual yet, but all the christmas stuff looks good to me. I'll probably spend a while on here today, get used to the look for now. Merry Christmas MGSF! :santa:

Haha Merry Christmas! Dudes, when I loaded the page up I thought it was one of those 'You Haven't Been Paying Your Bills Again' from my internet service provider. It makes a nice change from the normal.
The colour clashed may not be the best, but I like the design a lot.

Yeah, umm... a couple of criticisms about the new skin and related issues – all of which surround the escape of the wanted cyber terrorist, Hannibal Cobbster.

Now, according to the top bar:

• Our main forum is that of Cobbster's secret HQ – the one in which he just runs around naked making these ridiculous types of comments.
• Cobbster has blatantly deleted the rules in order to send the forum into utter turmoil.
• The Guestmap entailing the location of all our men has been lost – again, Cobbster is likely to blame.
• The Help Files seem fine, but I'm sure there are viruses that attack when you link to those pages.
• The Search Engine only allows us to look through his HQ – which is indeed very boring.
• He's also kidnapped all our Members and hidden them in barrels somewhere… I fear for their lives – 'cept that guy calling himself "God Told Me to Skin You Alive" (what a weirdo).
• The Calendar has been replaced with the one from Aftermath's house – it's completely blank.

Seriously, I fear what Hannibal Cobbster might do if we don't take control! ...If only Refluxe were still awesome – maybe then would we stand a chance... *sigh*

Not good if your thinking about changing the main template. MGSF is different from any forum considering how it looks and is set up.

Yeah, for those of you who don't like it or think it doesn't suit MGS or whatever the case is, just bear in mind that it's only a temporary skin for the Christmas break – it is NOT permanent, so you can just chillax.

Cobb will be making small alterations, though.

That's cool. However, some people are talking almost as if this will be a permanent skin. Given that, I figured I'd just remind y'all that this skin will only be temporary. It was just a reminder – don't take it personally.

But obviously the skin isn't going to be perfect – considering Cobb ran out of time; things would have been a lot better if that hadn't happened. So yeah.

It's nice for xmas. Hope everyone has a good day and got what they wanted merry xmas to you all.

It's not that I believe in Christmas either, or any other traditional occasion. <_< But since there are people who are enjoying the "spirit" of it, I thought it would be nice to wish them all a merry Christmas. :)

I wasn't expecting people to like this, actually, but I'm bored of the usual design patterns in the skins I've made to date, and wanted to do something a bit closer to traditional web design. So I discarded the MGS theme (for now) and did something refreshing, at least to me. With regard to the comments on coloring, you might want to calibrate your screen, because there isn't any black coloring outside of borders and text.

The text is larger because it's easier to read at all resolutions. If you don't like it, just bump it down like Mic did - the buttons should reformat accordingly and still look decent. 14pt font is a pretty standard size nowadays.

So yeah, if you don't like it, at least say why. Just saying "I hate it" or "It looks like my computer just went into safe mode" just makes me giggle and not change anything for the sake of being a dick.

Apart from I bump the font down, open subforums in new tabs and there all large too :/

Plus then when I go onto another site in one of the lowered down tabs then the text is tiny.

Well I for one love the skin, it's nice to be able to post without going blind from staring at a light background and the green text reminds me of the text on the Alien Trilogy boxart, which is good.

Well, I bumped the font size down a couple points all around. I like the font bigger, but I suppose I don't speak for everyone. This is the same size as before, I believe, if maybe a point bigger.
