Title: A Few Announcements for the New Year

the_cobbinator - December 28, 2007 05:44 PM (GMT)
Hey folks,

I want to give a heads-up with regard to a couple things that have either recently taken place or will be taking place shortly.

First, we've quietly put up a Leaderboards forum. Even if you're a casual fan, check some of the scores and times out for the boss battles. ichbinscissors, for one, puts up absolutely unbelievable times. Him and GTMtSYA are also in the process of writing speed guides, strategy guides, and FAQs for the games.

Second, on New Year's Day, I'm taking off for the U.K. for two weeks. Here's my schedule so far:user posted image
If you want to meet 'Fluxe and I, post up your general whereabouts and we'll try to figure out if we can get to your place and PM you for more details.

If you'll be in/around London when I'm in London, I'd love to meet you, so again, PM me with a good place to meet. I was also thinking a meetup of sorts in Hyde park would be fun, too.

Same goes for Bristol. However, my mobility will be the greatest when I'm with 'Fluxe.

I would like some suggestions for the three day gap in there, though. I have to stay in the southern part of the country, but I'm very open to ideas.

Otacon - December 28, 2007 05:57 PM (GMT)
Argh. Your open slot. I'll be able to make the wednesday.

Is a bit diffiicult working Thurs fri sat all day.

Where is fluxe? Ive only ever heard him speak... Heh.

JCC - December 28, 2007 06:08 PM (GMT)
Myself and Mic would love to meet the two of you in Wolverhampton.

EDIT: Also, in England, do not tell anyone anything regarding the 'Pinner' aspect of your journey. Pinner is slang for a tiny penis, affectionately termed "Pin dicks".

Yeah, and for clarification, Wolverhampton? Not terribly interesting. It's just some shops, haha, so the main novelty will be meeting the two best MGSF members. Although, there is a shop called Cex. ... This forum needs a giggle smiley.

Theres a 'Cex' in every major city centre though!

How far's Wolverhampton from Cardiff driving wise... If its a few hours or less that could be a goer. Is that 'Fluxes area?

Eh, it's an hour or so from Birmingham, I'd say. Maybe two, but I doubt it. Maybe if you drive like a grandma.

the_cobbinator - December 28, 2007 08:13 PM (GMT)
'Fluxe is roughly the same distance from Birmingham as Wolverhampton, but on the other side of the city. Oh, and Cardiff is two hours to Wolverhampton, according to Google Maps. Again, that assumes you drive the speed limit, which is laughable for anyone under 30.

@HolySpawn: I'm relatively close to Ontario, actually, as I live in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin.

If I do meet you, I am totally asking you to say that. I love when Americans say Wisconsin, it sounds awesome.

Roy Campbell - December 28, 2007 08:36 PM (GMT)
I doubt you would come to good old Portsmouth way down south, even though its the best city in the UK.

the_cobbinator - December 28, 2007 08:43 PM (GMT)
@JCC: Just take a look at some of the cities in Wisconsin: Manitowoc, Oconomowoc, Menomonee, Mukwonago. It's fun to find out-of-staters by listening to their pronunciation.

@Roy: I was actually thinking of going to Bournemouth to hang with Luke, which is a fairly short distance away.

Well i live in British Columbia so come there :P

Solidus - December 28, 2007 11:25 PM (GMT)
Well me and otacon are already there, its just what day and where. :P

But it would be great to meet some others aswell, if interested.

HolySpawn - December 28, 2007 11:38 PM (GMT)
You and Otacon live in British Columbia?

krypton_ls - December 28, 2007 11:39 PM (GMT)
Ah, the calendar hath surfaced! ^_^

Few comments from me first:

- Fluxe will drive like a grandma (wait... he drives?) in his lovemobile.
- There is a Cex in Sheffield City Centre.

On to the more serious issues:

- I too, was thinking that you could make a pit stop in Bournemouth for a day/or two. I have a lot of friends there and it's a short car journey there for me. There's tons to do and some of my friends work in clubs and stuff there, so a place like that will keep the alcoholics happy and the rest of us.... erm, happy?
- Plus that way if you felt like it, you could stop off at my humble abode. Well - fuck all to do here, but there's a few pubs around the corner!

In other news....

... Pinner?

Aww you got my hopes up lol. But in all seriousness you guys should do like a world tour for the MGSF members

Illegally, yes. I was referring to Otacon, however, for the driving distance.

If I could definitely stay with you, that would be awesome. Get to me on PM to let me know if/when. Otherwise, I may simply stop in Bournemouth and then take the train to Oxford for a couple days. Maybe make a few ground-breaking discoveries and so forth.

I have a family friend who lives in Pinner who's letting me stay at her house. If Pinner's a place of general disdain, I could care less, as it's also a place for free room and board.

God Told Me to Skin You Alive - December 29, 2007 01:12 AM (GMT)
Woo! Go the Leaderboards! Yeah!

amirite?

Canard - December 29, 2007 01:47 AM (GMT)
I probably speak for all the UK-ers when I say we have no idea what this 'Pinner' place is, it's confusion rather than disdain (well earned disdain if it's in the South though).

I''d say come up to Leeds, but we don't know each other and it's a scally ridden shittip anyway so maybe not. :P

Piss off, Northerner. The craggy social swampland of Leeds is a place you don't go on holiday. In fact, just avoid the north in general.

We're very pretty, I tell thee.

That you do but what bollocks is thee spouting about the south!?

Everyone knows that you should avoid the north like the plague. It's an old charter on something.

Anyway I might be able to do this seeing as I'm a mere 20 mins from inner city London (I'm clearly superior to you all - I know ^_^ )

the_cobbinator - December 29, 2007 06:00 AM (GMT)
@Canard: Ah, I see. I put it in merely so other Londoners (or those familiar with the area) had some point of reference. Saying "I'll be in London" is about as specific as saying "I'm in the U.S."

As for the North vs. South dilemma, I had a hostel in Glasgow booked, but decided to keep my life simpler and stick to one region of the country. I really wouldn't mind the wet cold that constitutes the North, though. We've gotten six inches of snow in the past few days, and a week ago it was drizzling freezing rain for the whole weekend.

ichbinscissors61 - December 29, 2007 09:58 AM (GMT)
Yes, God is right, go to the leaderboards!
I will welcome the challenge from anyone who wants to take it up.
Please guys. :D

As for the meeting, I'd love to, maybe you could get over here, to Surrey, and we could do some MGS together. Could always meet you in Guildford or something if you can't find my little town, we could always play snooker in Guildford then go back to the MGS.

I hope we can do something anyway.

Midna - December 29, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
that would be cool meeting you guys but I live in canada, eh. so you guys are gonna have to come to ontario next holidays

Refluxe - December 29, 2007 06:03 PM (GMT)
Nah, I can't drive because I can't afford shit anymore.

Train will do the job to major locations, and then this thing called using your fuckin' legs will do the rest.

I'll go Wolves if I have to, though it'd make more sense to come Brum on the basis that it's sick, and Wolves ...ain't. I mean, there's pretty much everything in Brum, unless we're planning on going back to someone's house.

Most of you are probably welcome round mine, since my mum doesn't give two shits - there ain't too much room but I have ze' alcohol, ze' PS3 and a PC that runs faster than Paula Radcliffe, minus the loo breaks, so whatever really. As long as you ain't some fourty year old perv wanker.

Wouldn't mind meeting some of you, lads.

P.S. Null, quiet, knave!

Yeah man, whatever - just doubt anyone would turn up, as you're all lazy fuckers. Plus it has to be before 6th because I'm buggering off back to Stoke.
