i just got myself this wonderful game, but .... i was also hoping to play it online. As i searched on the boards i found out that its been closed on 1st april 2007 (ironic a lil bit). Is there any chance of getting it back online ?

Nope. No more PS2 MGO. If you want to play MGO again, You have to buy MGS4 when it comes out this year.

you missed out on one truly unique online experience. I wasted many hours of my life playing that lol.

Actually the new Metal Gear Online is scheduled to be a separate game from MGS4. Ryan at Kojima Productions, said that it's strong enough to be its own title, which is exciting because, hopefully, that means it'll be a deep experience.

It's unlikely to happen. I barely managed to buy a ps2 and i just can't afford ps3 damn it :( What would be if players from around the world wrote a petition to Konami about reopening just a few mgs3 servers ? Would it work if many people would sign in ?

I wouldn't say so. You must wait for MGO.

A petition wouldnt work. And MGO is Metal Gear Online - The standalone version of MGO coming out for the PS3.

There's actually no chance that when mgs4 hits online, konami will put mgs3 online, even with few servers like up to 2-3 games max 24 users ? I'm just not able to buy myself a ps3 :(

I think the dumbest part of this, is the fact that they should have programmed a LAN or System Link feature into the Online mode! At least then, you could connect to friends remotely via a hub or even IP search.

Hope they provide a LAN/Sys Link mode for the upcoming MGO. That way, when they pull the server after 7 months, we can still play. <-smirk

Pull the server?! Are you nuts? They extended the release date to another half year, being the reason of online mostly! They needed to work on it, they wont cancel it if this MGO will be as good as trailers show.

What about hooking up PS2's over a LAN and using a computer as the server, is there some way to link up that way? I've got friends who would love to get it yup and running again.

Its so annoying they stopped this. The main reason i bought Subsistence was to play online. And when i got back it had been cancelled, it looked so fun too!

I wish they did release just a little pack, that allows you to do LAN or something, that would be awesome. Have 2 ps2's with your friends, doing a little 4 v 4, or something.

Its a load of pathetic excuses. Its more like there trying all the MGS fans to just buy MGS4, so they can play live, rather than stay on subsistence.

It may be scheduled to be a separate game, but you can still only get it with MGS4.

...Are you serious..? This game was shut down over a YEAR ago. It isn't coming back. MGO2 is going to be released with MGS4.
