Title: Resistance 2
Description: How exited are you?
wolfie - January 12, 2008 06:16 PM (GMT)
The newsw is out, personally I am very exited I love the first game although it looked last gen with better resolution lets hope now they will improve the graphics departament.
Solid Snake The Great - January 12, 2008 06:35 PM (GMT)
I've known about Resistance Two for a while now. I think the full title is Resistance: Rise Of Man. I didn't complete Resistance: Fall Of Man so I don't know how the story will progress, but I'll probably get this game anyway. An improved online multiplayer would be fantastic.
micster - January 12, 2008 06:46 PM (GMT)
60 Online Multiplayer is to DIE for.
And it looks so roxxor.
Snake Liquid - January 12, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
I've known there was a sequel since the first one. I read it on some internet site. However, people were discussing it at the official Resistance site where you can go and check your online stats. Anyways, I got chewed out for saying the title was Rise of Man. Is that confirmed, SSTG?
EDIT: Holy shit! 60 players in one match? Can you say "Lag"?
Solid Snake The Great - January 12, 2008 07:28 PM (GMT)
I don't think it's confirmed yet, but it would be a kick ass title for it. I love titles that go together like that. I think 60 player online multiplayer is a bit like overkill to be honest. The maps would have to be collosall, and the lag would be terrible.
Helikaon - January 12, 2008 08:03 PM (GMT)
I doubt it will be "Rise of Man", Sony and Insomniac will want to make a franchise, I'm betting on "Slightly Crouching Man"
Main issues will the lag, 60 people all playing at once seamlessly? Yeah right.
I'll be interested as to how they advance the story and am quite disappointed in them taking it to America, I'd much rather have it set on the Continent than the States.
Killzone and Gears 2 still hold my heart for the next big shooter though.
wolfie - January 12, 2008 10:45 PM (GMT)
It has been confirmed the news is everywhere.
http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=156568Do you think hale has gone alien with that read glow is his eyes.
Helikaon - January 13, 2008 10:20 AM (GMT)
Didn't he have them all through the first one though?
I seem to remember that spec ops sniper dude commenting on it before the part where you drive through that valley.
Tamashi_7 - January 13, 2008 10:52 AM (GMT)
^ His eyes were a golden colour in the first game. The red here shows that the virus is now affecting him on a deeper level; this could imply even more strength and abilities for the player - which is very sexy thought, indeed.
Still, it's a full year away - I wouldn't be getting too excited just yet. Although, I was kind of let down with the first Resistance, therefore I'm not highly anticipating this, either way. I feel they could have put a lot more into the game than what was - mainly in terms of narrative - but whatever. Online was fun - but gets rather generic, in my opinion.
As for the title, "Rise of Man" was an early rumor - but it was never fully confirmed. But considering the setting for the game - being based in America - I'm beginning to think it isn't quite the "rise of man" as far as the narrative is concerned (since there was no fighting on America soil during the time period of the first game). Therefore, it would be stupid to title the game "Rise of Man". And like Heli was saying I'm sure they plan on milking this idea with at least two or three more games.

Its not. It'll be late 2008 - As confirmed in that GameInsider mag article. [I think it was GameInsider ..] Because we have to remember how infamous Insomniac is at releasing 1 game per year since back in the PS2 days. The PS3 1 game per year line up atm is
2006 - Resistance 1
2007 - Rachet and Clank
2008 - Resistance 2
People are thinking this is how the PS3 exclusives are gonna role, Haze in early 2008 - MGS4 in midish 2008 - Killzone in late summer 2008 - Resistance in December 2008

We're in January now. "Late 2008" is very likely to mean November or December.
That is basically one year.
So yeah, just know that when I said it would be a full year away, I didn't mean that in exact literal terms - but in the sense that we're at the start of this year, and the game is coming right at the end of the year. So, my point was that we have to basically get through an entire year before we play the game.
Also, there is the possibility of delays. ...They happen with every good game - and some 'okay' games. They often can't be helped.

Warning deduction for sexy spam. :P
Anyway, It's quite amazing how good the PlayStation First-Person Shooter scene has gotten with the PS3. I remember talk of the PlayStation never being able to produce or desplay a good FPS, but with games like Resistance, Call of Duty 4, Rainbow Six: Vegas, Haze etc., the talk has been put to rest.

wolfie - January 13, 2008 09:44 PM (GMT)
The chimera drone looks stronger this time. I hope for better graphics and effects in this one. Oh yes and better A.I.
Liquidus_Snake - January 13, 2008 09:49 PM (GMT)
i dunno about a "sequel" it's all...well rather..blah
first one didn't really excite..apart from the fact it was on a ps3...the story was pretty naff aswell (not the concept in general..just the story of Nathan Hale and the ending)
i think i'll see how it turns out in word of mouth first....
Snake Liquid - January 18, 2008 07:35 PM (GMT)
Resistance 2: United We Fall.
It's the new cover story from this month's Game Informer. The cover looks really kickass. It has Hale on it, and it just looks fucking sweet. Anyone else get this issue? I haven't read the article yet, but I intend to right now.
Aquila - January 18, 2008 08:25 PM (GMT)
Not interested, tbh I think I'll still be playing CoD4 when it comes out. I've only ever played the demo of R:FOM and I just judged it on that. Really wasn't impressed and I'm not much of a science fiction fps.
MGS4_Raiden - January 18, 2008 09:27 PM (GMT)
Apparently theres gonna be 2 story lines, one following Hale. The other following a group of 8 soldiers. Wich you can do 8 Player Co-Op. XD
sadistic_greyfox - January 18, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
I'm indifferent, there ae so many other great FPS coming up and have already been released that it's sorta hard for me to get excited over it, plus I didn't like the multiplayer too much.
Yackemflaber - January 18, 2008 10:21 PM (GMT)
Gameinformer did a long article about it complete with screenshots and concept art, and I might actually buy this one
g-fox - January 19, 2008 06:50 PM (GMT)
i don't give a dead mooses last shit about it,the first one sucked more ass than idk what, aside from that i hate fps, theres another million other fps games out there that i won't be playing,it's just another pile of shit to me,i'll just wait till GTA IV comes out a few months from now  :o
Roy Campbell - January 19, 2008 08:07 PM (GMT)
Well, I wasn't too exited until today when I found out there will 8 player co-op and 60 player online battles. I was gobsmached! 60 player online! I haven't got a PS3 yet but will do soon for MGS4 of course, I will be buying this as well.
LarryTermite - January 23, 2008 09:33 AM (GMT)
Fuck yeah resistance 2. I got Resistance 1 for $50 and fucking best game ever, I'd rate the campaign close to MGS at a 4/5 star and online 5/5 any improvement on that is fucking sick arse. I definately would have paid full price for it, I got it for a bargain. But Rise of Man? WTF? Could you be less inovative? I seriously doubt it, most likely united we fall as reported earlier in this thread. I'm so addicted to Resistance online that I've hardly played my other 2 brand new titles F.E.A.R and Rainbow Six Vegas, lol. 60 players? Thats better than Battlefront 2, you can't beat that. Definately humping the furniture over this one lol.
Helikaon - January 23, 2008 03:34 PM (GMT)
It's not Rise of Man.
It makes no sense at all, humanity isn't rising, it's getting it's ass kicked.
I've heard "United We Fall", "Rise of Chaos", "Rise of the Chimera" and a few others.
Snake Liquid - January 23, 2008 08:01 PM (GMT)
I think it is United We Fall. That is what we get from the last gameinformer anyways. That would be a sick title too.
Honestly though, Rise of Man wouldn't make sense, as Heli said. The human race is at it's darkest hour. Europe and Asia have been completely infected, and now the Chimera is invading the States, possibly the last noninfected continent..

Lol the only thing thats slighlty fun in GTA is running around killing people, and that gets boring after a while. I'd take Resistance over GTA anyday, I've only ever borrowed GTA games, not worth buying any of them.

The only problem is mate, is that you don't know whats gona happen in the story.
I could see it as anouther "world's ass gets kicked all over the place....and then the USA comes in...blows everyone up...and saves the rest of the worlds sorry little behind's" there for the "Rise of America..uh i mean Man"
Helikaon - January 26, 2008 11:45 PM (GMT)
It's set on US soil.
We saw the Yanks trying to be Johnny Hero in FOM, that didn't work out too well.

i know man, thats what i think...it goes back to US soil and the fight gets turned around over there when everything else is destroyed.
i don't think its going to be to intersting set is America...i would like a bit more variety in Resistance....bit more around the globe type of thing...simular in a small way to Call of Duty....perhaps solidier swapping between Hale and a new soldier?

Well from what I've read it takes place from the east to San Francisco. Assuming the Chimera invade from the east and from Manhattan (thematic and strategic), that means they push 2579 miles (4151 km), the humans* have to start pushing really fucking hard at the end of the game.
(Fuck all that nationality bollocks, it's a fight for survival now)

You never know man it's a video game
it would be good to see more Resistance fighters set up in anouther part of the globe...and instead someone else saveing America's ass.....can only dream :P
also i would'nt so much as say America didn't make things go to well....they did destroy like the cental Chirmia tower in London.....not a bad job for one Yank alone would'nt you say?
LarryTermite - January 27, 2008 09:27 AM (GMT)
Its a bit rich saying that America didn't go too well, 1 yank basically saved Britain by himself, so imagine what they whole army could do? The story line of Resistance isn't THAT great, not shithouse though, but the gameplay and graphics and levels are all awesome.
Helikaon - January 27, 2008 02:22 PM (GMT)
Hale did fuck all the save Britain, unless Britain is being "Fortress Britannia" during the two years between the two games, Hale's little jaunty has done next to nothing to stop the Chimera.
Also Hale wasn't just one man, he was immune to the more severe mutations of the Chimera virus. If he didn't have the increased strength and regeneration he wouldn't have gotten out of York.

It's strange the fact his Americian would'nt you agree?
I don't agee with saved...but to blow up the biggest inferstructure with mainly him and a few other geezers that do fuck all and die.....pretty impressive
LarryTermite - January 29, 2008 05:31 AM (GMT)
Yer, come on, give him some fucking credit, I mean he is supposed to be the hero.
Draketopher - February 1, 2008 12:18 PM (GMT)
I enjoyed the first resistance but the story didn't really grab me so I played Multiplayer. I still haven't finished it =\. But, the screens and from what I read in game informer it's going to be insane. I'm very much looking forward to that. Just adds to my list to why I'm glad I have a ps3 this year. :]

If it was made in Britain, it would be a British soldier, but it wasn't. It's a game, don't bring nationality into it. Besides Lieutenant Cartwright was British, and he was in it a great deal of the time.
Anyways, after seeing the screens for this game, it looks really good. I hope that there is more plot added. I'm looking forward to these enemies that are supposed to be bigger than anything in the last game. I thought those Goliaths were pretty damn big.
Draketopher - February 1, 2008 02:14 PM (GMT)
Oh man, did you see the big robotic walker things? They are INSANE. You gotta take those down and it's gunna be insanity. And rumors are going around you'll be able to fly in airplanes.
