Title: Question - Forum Rankings.
snaker - January 17, 2008 05:09 PM (GMT)
I had a little question, could anybody give me the rankings of this forum. Because i want to know how many posts i need to have to get a new rank.
Metalmalitia23 - January 17, 2008 06:03 PM (GMT)
Im pretty sure your gonna have to get 100 posts to get a new rank, but then again that shouldn't really matter that much. I don't even know what ranking i am. All i know is The cake is a lie.

Post problems such as these in
The Help Desk section next time dude.
As for your question: I'm not sure what the scale is but you do realize there is no reward for ranks? Once you get to 100 you can change your member title and thats it.

From the ACP:

And I'll just pin this for future reference.

Have edited the title so it doesnt just read 'Question' :)

No its not 'obvious' as some forums do have a reward system.

Bazz, could we change those ranks to something a little more, I dunno, 'MGS'...?
If yes, say the word and I'll come up with some new ranks based on the games. If not, don't worry about it. :)
Gene - January 18, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
How about more ranks aswell because when you get to 1k its just a dead end.
JCC - January 18, 2008 07:44 PM (GMT)
If you do change them, Johnny Sasaki must be the top rank. I demand it.
the_cobbinator - January 18, 2008 07:46 PM (GMT)
Haha, if you want to write new ranks, go for it. I think Sol (and I?) came up with these in 2004, so we could use a new set.
ichbinscissors61 - January 18, 2008 10:16 PM (GMT)
Hell yeah! I would really love to see some new ranks. Maybe some even up to ADJ's level of 10k or more, who knows. I liked to see my rank change, now I just have to take away my hard-earned Hitman rank and all I have is General. :(
I'm not really sure if I could make any new ranks up myself, it would probably sound stupid.
How about a competition or something? Votes for rank names you like?
@JCC - I agree. We all love Johnny. :D
krypton_ls - January 19, 2008 02:40 AM (GMT)
Just come up with some ideas and we'll see, really. ^_^
Tamashi_7 - January 19, 2008 07:56 AM (GMT)
Okay, here's what I got:
0 - Jail Guard (that's fundamentally Johnny for you, bastards)
50 - Light Infantry
100 - Heavily-Armed Trooper
500 - Hi-Tech Soldier
1,000 - Tengu Commando
2,500 - Haven Trooper (they're all chicks in the game :P )
5,000 - Covert Taskforce Member (that implies a group like FOX-HOUND, DEAD CELL, etc.)
7,500 – MGSF Philosopher
10,000 – MGSF Patriot
I wanted to leave out stuff like 'SEAL', 'GRU Opretive', 'Genome Soldier', etc. because it wouldn't make since if they were all stringed together. Like, it doesn't make any sense to be going from a GRU Soldier to a SEAL. So yeah, I tried to keep it with ranks that can be within any group.
Philosopher and Patriot are more or less an expression to emphasis dedication and loyalty to the forum.
Also, I spaced out the post count required to climb a rank. This is because the current ranking structure only reflects the board's very early development – I mean, getting 1K back then was a massive feat ...now, it really isn't. So yeah.
JCC - January 19, 2008 12:44 PM (GMT)
Johnny Sasaki's last?
List sucks.
Pricey - January 19, 2008 12:53 PM (GMT)
The list is good. But anyone who can get to 10k and not change it is a true patriot. :P
Solid Snake The Great - January 19, 2008 12:56 PM (GMT)
I like that list you've got there Tam. Excellent. Although, couldn't you fit in Scientist somewhere? Lots of scientists in MGS.

No, he's first...

Well, you're almost there, sexy.

Realistically speaking, not many people wanna be a scientist. Therefore, it's not a very cool title to have. Besides, it's suppose to be like climbing military ranks. :)
As long as we have your disapproval, we know it's good. ^_^
Gene - January 19, 2008 01:58 PM (GMT)
Yeah I like that a lot, nice work dude :)
black king - January 19, 2008 02:25 PM (GMT)
very nice Tam you sexy thing!. should you put just a 750 rank? maybe you could bump each down one and give 10,000 the rank of Son of Big Boss or just Big Boss. for ex:
0-Recruit
50-Light Infantry
100-Heavy Infantry
250-Commandant(i spell that right?)
500-Tengu Commando
750-Covert Taskforce Member
1000-MGSF Philosophist
2500-MGSF Patriot
5000-The Boss
7500-Son of Big Boss
10,000-Big Boss
Just a thought. But the only thing really wrong with my version is you get the MGSF ranks too soon....
Tamashi_7 - January 19, 2008 02:44 PM (GMT)
I can't speak for anybody else, but I don't like the idea of having ranks like "The Boss", "Big Boss", etc. – as those are actual character names, and names of characters shouldn't be ranks, in my honest opinion.
Besides, like I said before, the idea with 'MGSF Patriot & Philosopher' is to emphasis their loyalty, dedication and wisdom – which is actually the highest honor (ergo highest ranks).
Konoha no Jiraiya-Sama - April 10, 2008 12:27 AM (GMT)
That is a pretty neat idea, though I doubt it would be done but have maybe a special group for the members with the highest post count that doesn't consist of flames and spam, and are actually Constructive and useful. Know what I'm saying?
Null - April 10, 2008 12:34 AM (GMT)
Have those new ranks Tam posted come into play yet?
They are awesome btw, Tam.
