So ive just got back from the police because some cunt tried taking my phone.

I was walking back from Film Studies with Anil, I got a message so I checked it and this guy comes up and starts asking questions and then suddenly he lunges for me and is like "GIMME YER F'IN PHONE" so a struggle commences mainly with him kicking me to the floor. Then he's like IVE GOT A KNIFE but it was obvious he didnt. Then a woman in a car paps her horn and I run over to her and jump in and he runs off.

Then the police were phoned and I had to do a statement yadda yadda.

But wow. This day has been scary.

Gahh..all too familiar situation for me. I've been mugged about 5 times..although 3 of them were unsuccesful, it's still an intimidating situation to be in.

Some friends of mine faced attempted muggings recently, which is odd given the city in which we reside for Uni is supposed to be one of the safest in the UK.

But both times it was for a phone they were using.... fortunately just remember to get a (bloody good) wrist strap for it and use it whenever the phone is out. Having said this, one of my friends had a decent strap and it got ripped off in the struggle - but he still held onto the phone.

My advice is to get a strap, and remain calm and vigilant in such a hold up. Of course if it's a random mob/gang then let 'em have the thing or if they are armed and you see they are. Also don't use it late at night in the middle of nowhere etc, or remain in a group if you are around during late hours.

My mate did that before actually. Had a knife pulled on him because he wouldnt get the guy fags. Said sumimn like 'Do you really want to do that?' 'Ill stab ye in da neck now innit!' 'Fine' Does martial arts so does a weird knock knife out of hand and twists arm, slides leg behind and forces down in onemove like then actually stamped on his face when he was on his way down.

Just been down the pub a few hours ago, my mate had a mugging attempt on him in the next street from mine. Coicidence'd. Bloke actually did have a knife too, has 2 cuts in his face. Didn't get the phone though, trust a scratty scall with a knife to pick the street with a soldier in it rather than mine. :P

I tell you, muggings are always different. Sometimes they're more discrete, they don't just attack you, it's THESE guys that get away with the stuff. It's the idiots that attack, like they did with you that get away with precisely dick, and now gotta start hiding. I hope they find the bastard for you.

About 3 years ago one of my friends got mugged. Quite a funny story actually, cause this guy was highly intelligent. A top student with an excellent IQ, ect.

So we were watching Star Wars 3 at the movies, and at about 5 minutes in he went to the toilet for a no.2. When he got there someone asked him if they could borrow his phone while he did his business. So he gave the guy his phone, and excreted, once he had finished, he noticed that the man was gone. :lol: Now, who on earth would lend a Suspicious looking person their phone, especially if they want to use it while you cant see them.

I suppose your story shows the worst (The mugger) and best (the woman in the car) of people all in one.

Mugging rates are increasing considerable. There is more and more scum on the streets nowadays, why just the other day I walked past 3 guys and they thought it would be hillarious to start shouting at me from afar, I just ignored them but when they got closers one of the guys kneed me in the thigh, again, I just ignored it and carried on walking.

Yeah, you should've stomped the shit out of him.

Damn Null thats majorly sucks. Yeah I wish we had actually done something but I was bein attacked and my friend was tryin to pull the twat off me. When not in the situation you think what you'd do but you never do because you just clam up.

He was an asian guy and just a bit taller than me. I doubt they'll get him though, The Police have very little to go on, Just my testimony and a description. No CCTV and only two witnesses who they havent taken statements from yet.

I might phone em in a week with the crime number tooo see what they say. But im just crappin myself cos ive gotta go past that place every day too school. And walking tommorow at like 12 im gonna be on my own ;/

I personally have somehow neverbeen mugged when almost all of my mates have..where i live is prety rough and i hear these kind of things alot....however the way some of us are brang up, you can handle some of these situations.

But for me to get back on topic, i had something like this happened to me before. When i first bought my ps3 some guy tried to take it in the store i bought it from. I had Resistance seperatly he managed to get my game but not my ps3 so i left it with the cashier and i bolted it after the guy, i caught up to him and tackled him into a big case of Tide and i got a brand new copy of the game since the other copy was believed to be damaged. And that guy was banned from the store and I had a happy ending :)

I wouldn't risk getting a beating for my phone but yet again mine only cost twenty quid. If it was something more valuable like my pod I may have just ran for my life. Glad to see you got out of that situation without getting harmed or having your phone nicked. Nice one. Its kind of dumb that the mugger guy approached two people, wouldn't that mean he was outnumbered if there was a confrontation.
