I creamed myself watching it and I aint even a Star Wars fan. Seems to be one hell of an interesting game with great physics and all that other gravy shizz.
Helikaon - January 30, 2008 09:37 PM (GMT)
Oh hell yes. I cannot wait for TFU.
Finally a Star Wars game not confined to the Original or Prequel Trilogy. KOTOR aside of course.
Hopefully this won't be a stinker like the official ROTS game was, from all I've seen it shouldn't be.
It will be pretty cool learning about the Secret Apprentice. My best bets on him being Korto Vos.
And finally the SW geek inside me is unleashed.
monkeymaguire - January 30, 2008 09:52 PM (GMT)
i duno wat trailer u linked cause it wouldnt load on my computer, but if it was the one where at the beginning he pulls down the star destroyer than hell yeah that looks sweet! will defo buy that!
jonhou - January 30, 2008 10:15 PM (GMT)
I saw a trailer yesterday and it looks amazing, don't know if I'm going to get though, because I've never been a SW fan I've never even seen any of the movies.
wolfie - January 30, 2008 11:18 PM (GMT)
I want this game, but in gamespot the 360 version has a release date; while the ps3 says q2 2008. I hope this game has a simultaneous release in all consoles.
Helikaon - January 30, 2008 11:58 PM (GMT)
It is, Force Unleashed isn't just a game. It's a Star Wars multimedia project, like Shadows of the Empire was back in the early '90s.
Theres a comic, a novel, a webstrip, 3 different versions of the game (Current gen, Handheld/Last gen and Wii) and a massive figure line.
All of the products are to be released in Q2 at the same time.
Aquila - January 31, 2008 05:47 PM (GMT)
Oh I've been watching this game for some time, I'm a massive Star Wars fan so I'll naturally love it. Looks amazing besides, physics by far the best.
La Li Lu Le Lo - January 31, 2008 06:02 PM (GMT)
If it weren't for this trailer, I wouldn't have had any interest in this game. I'll get it eventually, but I'm not sure if it'll be on day one.

The Jedi Knight series?
I think this game looks very awsome, but as a Star Wars fan, the story pisses me off a lot. Vader's secret apprentice? Pfft, what a crap story and I'm fine with the extended universe that is the EU books but don't go messing around with core parts of the story, Vader never had an apprentice and thats that
Helikaon - January 31, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
Err actually he had 7, not including this guy.
And it's not messing with anything. The 19 year period between ROTS and ANH has barely been touched by the EU and is soon to be undertaken by the G man himself.
GreySnake - January 31, 2008 08:21 PM (GMT)
I'm not a huge SW fan, but damn this game has me kind of excited.
It at least merits a rental from me.

Care to show any evidence?

Roy Campbell - January 31, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
These are all part of the extended universe.
Helikaon - January 31, 2008 09:01 PM (GMT)
Naturally, Vader never had any apprentices during the OT, because they had neither been created yet and if they were would all be dead, dying or in hiding.
Before you come out with "George Lucas didn't create them/They aren't in the films therefore they ain't part of Star Wars etc"
Lucas has to approve everything major that goes into the EU, he approved and even re-wrote some elements of Revan's backstory for KOTOR, he approved Luke getting married to Mara Jade (*another of Vader's apprentices) etc.
Vader's numerous apprentices are as much a part of Star Wars as Luke Skywalker seeing Ben Kenobi's ghost on Hoth.

Sorry, not matter what you say, it doesn't cut it for me. Unless these apprentices appear in the new TV series which is taking place between ROTS and ANH then as far as i am concerned - they don't exist.

Mara Jade (*another of Vader's apprentices) |
Actually Jade was the Emperor's 'project'. She was trained by him since childhood and later became his private assassin, known as 'The Emperor's Hand'.
Helikaon - January 31, 2008 09:30 PM (GMT)
I believe she comments on him being a lightsaber tutor of some sort in Dark Force Rising, but yeah I suppose "apprentice" is too strong a word, maybe student is more appropriate?
Disciple - January 31, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
I go with student. I've read Mara Jade: The Emperor's Hand and now I'm working through the Thrawn Trilogy(the series which we were introduced to Jade), which is fucking great by the way. I don't know why I waited so long to sit down and power out these trade paperbacks, seeing as I've had them for years and years. <_<
skywalker - January 31, 2008 10:14 PM (GMT)
Well if you want to get technical you would have to go with Vader had no apprentices because "Always 2 there are, no more, no less" Yoda. But yes, Lucas approved of the EU versions and therefore destroyed all that was good in his original trilogy. It is kind of dumb to argue because in the movies Vader had none, and in the books he did. Lucas ruined all that was good in Star Wars anyways when he allowed Revenge of the Sith to be released in theatres. That movie was absolutly horrible acting wise, script wise, and story line wise. The Legacy of Darth Vader was put to death when at the end Vader goes, "Where is Padme?" "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" That was freaking retarted I don't care what anyone says.
Back on topic, this Game looks pretty good. It would be nice to have a game thats about light sabers and the force that is not restricted to the story line of the movies. But it looks like at least to me that they spent way to much time focusing on using the force to lift people and the scenery looked like a messed up cartoon animation. But I think it is retarted how he holds his light saber, such a gray fox rip off. Nobody would hold there light saber that way. Its mor intimadating to have it relaxed at your side, it shows the confidence of the Jedi and the Sith.
black king - January 31, 2008 10:53 PM (GMT)
@Disciple the thrawn trilogy, hand of thrawn duology plus two others are awesome. He's my fav baddie B)
@skywalker there can be more then two sith at once. there can't be more than two sith lords at once. After all remember how Revan and Malak and an army of Dark Jedi? And Dooku and Ajjasi Ventress along with others. They were just sith not sith lords. wow every word there was geeky
skywalker - February 1, 2008 01:35 AM (GMT)
According to the books, not the movies.
black king - February 1, 2008 12:57 PM (GMT)
and the video games and pretty much everything else. and in the movies Dooku/Sidious/Vader/ any other sith never said there could only be two. That too was from a book.
@topic about the game if it follows sith tradition then the apprentice will have to fight vader in the end but since it take splace between ROTS and ANH we know vader has to win right?
Draketopher - February 1, 2008 02:14 PM (GMT)
I'm looking forward to it. I can't wait to try out all the force powers. Is it real time action game play or is it turn based like KOTOR?
Helikaon - February 1, 2008 05:30 PM (GMT)
Real time, like Jedi Knight I think. But not sucky.

Actually in the books the tell of when there were many siths but a huge civil war broke out among them and they killed each other off. And the quote from the movie is "Always 2 there are no more, no less. A master and an apprentice." Not an apprentice and several of his apprentaces. Every time a new sith came in to play it was because one died or one was killed by the one taking his place. Even the books contradict themselves.
Helikaon - February 2, 2008 12:33 PM (GMT)
There have been many Sith over the year.
The Rule of Two was created by Darth Bane, that is the "two there shall be, one to hold the power, the other to covet it" or the Jedi version "two there shall be, the master and the apprentice"
The Rule of Two was created by Bane because he viewed the current Sith at the time-a group known as the Brotherhood of Darkness-as weak and idiotic because they disregarded the Sith of the past.
The Sith order that follows the Rule of Two is known as the "Order of the Sith Lords", because both Sith were considered Sith Lords, but one was stronger and known as the "Dark Lord of the Sith".
As I said, before the Order of the Sith Lords there were the Brotherhood of Darkness, before them there was Revans Sith Empire, before that was Exar Kun's Sith Empire, before that was Freedon Nadd's Sith Empire, before that there was Naga Sadows Sith Empire and before that was The Sith Empire, descendants of the original dark Jedi who rebelled against the order and went to Korriban, where they found and enslaved the Sith species.
The rule of Two only came into play when Bane created it, 1000 years before the movies.
black king - February 2, 2008 01:08 PM (GMT)
true and Sidious kept that rule although hr broke Bane's second one
Helikaon - February 2, 2008 01:19 PM (GMT)
Not really, Sidious only ever had one Sith Apprentice at one time.
He had Maul, who was killed on Naboo
He converted Dooku (using Qui Gon's death) after TPM
He had Anakin kill Dooku, removing Dooku and leaving the door open for him to convert Anakin to become Vader.
He had countless Dark Jedi under his command though (his Hands, the Inquisitorius, Prophets of the Dark Side etc), but Dark Jedi are not Sith.
black king - February 2, 2008 01:22 PM (GMT)
ya he had Mara Jade, Jerec, etc. and seemes to like people who's names had "J" in them :P
although another of Bane's rules i believe was not to reveal yourself to the Jedi(which he and Maul did)
Helikaon - February 2, 2008 01:35 PM (GMT)
Well Sidious did a good job, as soon as the Jedi found out about him, he was already in place as Supreme Chancellor (and he was without an apprentice), the Jedi would never guess it was Palpatine. Only Windu by the time of Order 66 had any suspicions about Palpatine and by then it was too late and wrong (he thought he was a pawn of Sidious).

|
Anakin told Windu that he Was the dark lord of the sith. The entire Jedi council was suspicious after Dooku told Obi-Wan that the senate was now under control of Darth Sidious.
Helikaon - February 2, 2008 02:55 PM (GMT)
I'm not talking about ROTS, Windu in the days leading up to O66 asked Palpatine to surrender his Chancellorship when the war was over but he refused (i.e. when Dooku and Grievous were in custody or dead). Shortly before the beginning of the Battle of Coruscant (you see the end of it at the beginning of ROTS) Anakin and Obi Wan recovered Nute Gunrays mechanochair off Cato Neimodia (this is referenced in the film when Kenobi says "that business of Cato Neimodia doesn't count).
From that the Jedi discovered evidence for the existence of another Sith (Sidious) and confirmed what Dooku said during AOTC, they also found evidence pointing towards Sidious being on Coruscant and in the Chancellors entourage.
skywalker - February 2, 2008 03:00 PM (GMT)
So how does that make Windu the only one who was suspicous?
Helikaon - February 2, 2008 03:12 PM (GMT)
Because he was the one pushing for Palpatine to be removed. The other Jedi didn't trust Palpatine, but they never thought he was a Sith.
You notice it in the movie, firstly he is very quick to believe Anakin (someone else he didn't trust), next he rushes with only 3 other Jedi to arrest Palps, you don't go hunting elephants with a water gun unless you're looking for something else.
Finally Windu abandons one of the major tenets of being a Jedi, that they don't kill prisoners.
Snake Liquid - February 2, 2008 03:31 PM (GMT)
I like the books, but personally the Star Wars trilogy is just the six movies. I don't include the books as being canon, even if they are.
I agree with Skywalker, ROTS kinda sucked. The terrible acting ruined it for me. Lucas really rushed that last movie.
On the topic of the game: Anyways, I think this game looks very interesting. It should promise to be lots of fun. Hopefully it won't just be blind action the entire time like the ROTS movie game. I'm really holding high hopes for the game.
skywalker - February 2, 2008 04:32 PM (GMT)
I see your point Helikaon. After that explination I will agree that Mace was probably the first to suspect Palpatine. But as far as killing goes, I think that no matter what the situation is any jedi would kill a sith. They threaten the balance of the universe.
I don't understand why Windu only took 3 Jedi to go after the Sith Lord. Was he that confident in that he could defeat him, which he did if not for Anakin.
Helikaon - February 2, 2008 04:48 PM (GMT)
I think GL explained it by them being the only Jedi available.
Despite having an entire temples worth of Jedi. Plus Shaak Ti was in the temple and she's made a very big deal about in the EU. Plus she's in The Force Unleashed :)
