Well I just got back from Video Games Live in Toronto...and I think its safe to say it was amazing. I completely recommend it to anyone. (trust me you will not regret it)

I was on the center balcony, so I could look over eveything, and the screen was at eye level -pretty sweet if I don't say so myself.

So...it started off with some poetry...(which I'm glad I didn't get) and then a funny video played where someone dressed as pacman runs from three ghost creatures or whatnot throughout a city. You can check it out here:

They opened with pong and went on to other 2d games until..
Their first big piece was the Metal Gear Solid theme (which kojima introduced) with clips from all four games on the screen. (this was my favorite piece of them all):

Solo pianist Martin Leung (the guy from the blindfolded internet mario video that everyones seen) played a compiliation of Chrono Cross songs. Then later a Final Fantasy one. And at the end he did an amazing rendition of the mario star power theme at an unbelievable pace. Here he is:

Lets see...well they had two audience members get on stage to battle it out on Frogger to win prizes.(the orchestra played the music to whatever they did) There was a costume contest..little Link won.

Other pieces included:

God of War: excellent solo vocalist at one part:

Final Fantasy 8: Liberi Fatali

Civilization

Medal of Honor: they used real life clips

Kingdom Hearts

Zelda: my second fav:

Mario:

Sonic

Halo: a huge tribute, as they played like 3 songs and then a guy in a master chief suit ran out with a flag at the end..(oh and the composer for halo was there)

Finally, after they "finished" people kept on clapping so they did an encore performance...

One Winged Angel:

All in all, a great experience and I hope it finds its way to a city near you!
(all the videos I posted are from the concert I attended minus the metal gear clip)

Yeah, I was surprised they played so many good ones. And man that piano guy...during his Final Fantasy songs he did these crazy hand-over-hand key strokes. Pretty cool.

Wow, all the best FF songs all put into one song, pretty darn good I would say.
