"Try Not To Look Back"
I left the hells so quickly,
Not to begin to look back,
And now,
I'm trying to make up for
What I didn't have in the past...
But then again
Nothing can replace
Nothing I want to re-face.
I sit and think about
What I did and did not
Have growing up,
Thankful for what I did.
Washing away those years,
You can't look back,
You mustn't.
Trying to let go
And finally accept this life
Trying to cherish today,
For what it is...
Rusted and weathered
Tryin to keep myself sane...
Not to look back,
But to look ahead
To where there is sunlight.
My body feels the effects
Rusted and weathered
I was and can't be.
Not today,
Not in this life...
I chose to fight
The urge to look back
On what was...
But to look ahead
To what will be...
Don't think about
The past,
And what you didn't have...
Look ahead
To what you can make of yourself,
And what will be....
Hmm, this has a few life lessons that perhaps I need to learn myself, keep positive, look ahead, something I can never do, I'm always looking back at the past, I can never let it go.
I'm terrible at feedback, so I will say it was a good poem, in my opinion, it made me think about my own experiences, and how I should let certain events go, something that always proves difficult.
I'm sure a good writer here will be able to give you some proper feedback on this effort, I suck at that sort of thing.
