Title: Sega Games
Description: general Sega chat topic

I figure they don't have any franchises (besides Sonic, and even he's been lacking lately) big enough for their own topic, so talk about everything Sega here.

I was raised with Sega Genesis and Sega Saturn game systems, fav genesis games were obviously all the Sonic ones and both Vectorman games

having grown up with Sega it's sad to see them how they are now; two failed consoles, Sonic is in the same games as his arch enemy (Mario), and their new games and remakes of classics, while they still definately retain that old Sega feel, just aren't keeping up with the times.

I played the Sega Rally Revo demo (i have Sega Rally Championship for Saturn) and it was kind of entertaining but mediocre overall, and the same with The Club demo (although that one I would say is worth a rental if you're having a party)

I've not even bothered to touch a modern Sonic game because I want to remember how he was. the most recent Sonic game I've played is the first Sonic Adventure which was good, and I think I tried Sonic Advance

so yeah, feel free to discuss anything I just said or anything related to

Sega had Crazy Taxi, and no matter how Sonic is doing, it'll always be great in my book, growing up with that as one of the greatest games I've had for my time, growing up as a kid with it, I don't care what ratings say.

Apart from those two, I can think of nothing else.

For whatever reason I could never really get into Sonic. My brother did, but I never could unless we were playing two-player.

I always liked the Sega for Evander Holyfield's boxing :) There were a few others that I liked as well but none that really come to mind.

Sonic 2 was my favorite of the series. Recently downloaded it for my Wii...I think it took me no more then an hour and a half to beat it...took my entire childhood to go through that game and I beat it in under 2 hours now....so sad.

what ever happened to Crazy Taxi anyway?

and I've just been reminded that Sega has a huge chance to be amazing again, I forgot they got the rights to the Alien franchise and is making a game about them (GameInformer has an article this month)
and since i'm sure that's going to be their only game not run on a timer, and it's Aliens, it should be pretty damn good

Well I wasn't brought up with any sega games apart from one single game (Sonic The Hedgehog I think) on the Sega Game Gear, lol funny little handheld. Anyway only had the enjoyment of one good Sonic game. I've obviously played others but my first was the best.

Came out on Dreamcast, Had a sequel. Was ported too PS2, GC, XBOX and PC. Crazy Taxi 3 came for PC and then Fare Wars [Which was basically a remake] came out for the PSP.

Yeah; I'd love too see a new original Crazy Taxi. But I do still play the GC version somewhat.

i grow up with many consoles around, was never a Nintendo kid, most of stuff we had was SEGA games, even though they don't do consoles anymore but they still make excellent games and they have revolutionized alot of things and created new genres in gaming and new creative ideas that hae been incorporated into other games in one way or another.
some of those are:
- Shen Mue
- Virtua Fighter
- Sega Rally
- Crazy taxi

take a guess on how these games inspired others.

The best game on sega for me is Streets of Rage 1. It was so cool to play it with someone else :)

solidfox - February 20, 2008 11:33 AM (GMT)
Only way to play those games. Downloaded them recently, waiting for my brother to come over. We went through all the streets of rage games as a child.

There was another game just like that, but with a different title...can anybody recall what the name of it was?

I was raised on SEGA, but alot more on Nintendo. (which i enjoyed more.) But some of my fav games of all time were on the Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast. (Dreamcast is one of my fav system.) My fav SEGA games are, Sonic the Hedgehog(1), Golden Axe, Shining Force, Sonic & Knuckles, Virtua Fighter 2, Crazy Taxi, and last but not last, Shenmue.

Sonic is up there among the best games of all time, but apart from the first one, the others were no where near being called perfect.

Sonic 2 sucked. Well, the game was pretty damn good, but more specifically, Tails sucked. Characters have such a big effect on the game, which was why I was pissed when I had to play as sissy Raiden in MGS2. Like Raiden, tails sucked, always has done and always will.

There was some amazing games on the Mega Drive and Mega Drive 2 - those were Sega's best games.

My favorite game was Commander Chaos. Red vs The blue Team. Nothing better then commanding your guy to roast someone to pile of ash with there flame thrower or blow them up into a pile of bones. Used to play that game for hours. Echo dolphin was another cool game.

You don't have to play with tails. Just go to the options and choose Sonic only. Its the best way to play cause tails gets in the way for the secret worlds where you have to collect rings. Only way I play, and thats why Sonic 2 is my favorite out of the series.

There are many great games for Sega Systems.

One game i recently got is Under Defeat. It's a Japanese game and it reminds me of a game for the NES called ''Twin Eagle''

If there was one classic Sega game I wish would be re-made for the current generation of consoles, it would be Streets of Rage. Fucking classic.

doubleo sigint - March 16, 2008 12:53 PM (GMT)
I used to love the Dreamcast even though I called it a shitty console in my Shenmue topic. It's actually a great console I only called it shitty because Sega gave up on it when PS2 came out which didn't allow masterpieces like Shenmue to shine on that console. If Sega want to make alot of money and have another decent franchise apart from Sonic, they should pursued Yu Suzuki to finish Shenmue 3 and bring it out on PS3 & 360.

Young Snake - March 19, 2008 12:51 PM (GMT)
Never had a Sega console of my own, but my youngest uncle had one. We used to play Sonic, Wonderboy, Virtua Fighter.

FearHeldDear - March 19, 2008 04:51 PM (GMT)
Sonic 3 crushed, especially when you added it on to Sonic & Knuckles to make it Sonic 3 and Knuckles.
