Title: The Moment of Truth

solidfox - February 26, 2008 12:30 PM (GMT)
How many people have watched this show? From what I hear, it is an America only show, so I'm not sure if many on this forum have watched it.

But here is a clip of what the show is like,

There is nooooooooooooo way I'd go on this show. Even if I had great confidence in myself.

There's since a few weeks a nearly identical version of this in the german tv and it's just ... uargh! they don't get anything compared to what they lose. :(

This show is a cross between Jerry Spinger & Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire, but I agree with solidfox I wouldn't go that show for anything.

Aquila - February 26, 2008 07:10 PM (GMT)
Yeah I definetly wouldn't go on that show - nope, never.

Anyway it doesn't really look like that good a show.

The show freaking blows. They talk way to damn much and wait to long to answer all these questions. Last night this girl admitted to cheating on her husband, still loves her old boyfriend and hides things for her dad from her mom, and then they asked if she thought she was a good person and she said yes and the lie detector said no so she lost everything. It is so rigged because who the hell would admit all that, then lie about weather or not you think you are a good person. Rigged.

Aquila - February 26, 2008 08:37 PM (GMT)
Well yeah no doubt it's rigged, otherwise I would bet my lifesavings you'd hear a complaint from a contestant.

I saw a full episode last night.

Some choice things that happened

For money a woman admitted that she cheated on her husband and admitted that she would rather be married to her ex-boyfriend instead of her husband.

And then she got a question wrong and lost all the money.

The last thing you saw was here husband and parents crying as she just stood there and looked like an ass.

It's pretty much the lowest, most despicable TV show of all time, and it's creators have stopped so low that they've all gotten reserved spots in hell.

Also, Sky it's pretty clear that you don't know how lie detectors work. Basically before the show airs they put this woman on a lie detector and had her answer a series of questions. And basically they can measure wether she's lying or not based on a series of altered brain functions and or bodily reactions.

So they already made her answer all of those questions, and the whole element of the show is these people trying to either cheat the test(some people are just good at veiling emotions).

So basically, when she took the polygraph, when she anwsered "Yes" to the "good person" question, despite her answer she truly didn't believe it. Did you see her explanation afterwords, she was totally trying to defend herself by saying "I used to think I'm a bad person, but I'm good now."

Aquilla- The contestants are aware of every question they're asked and obviously sign wavers.

There is a similar show in the UK, its called 'Nothing But the Truth' and is hosted by Jerry Springer.

Video

All the same it is also a bad show.

Yes, I do know how lie detectors work. There is a reason that they are not admissable in court is because they are not reliable. If you ask a question to someone that makes them uncofortable they can register a false positive or false negative. We had someone come to a class I took in college and gave a couple of the students the test and he showed us things that can screw up the test, and in questions based off of moral beliefs such as, do you believe there is a god, or questions about things you have never thought about such as, do you think you are a good person. What do you want the person to do, think about it for 10 seconds, and then answer it. Why the hell would she admit to cheating on her husband and loving another man more than her husband and the lie about something as freaking stupid as do you think you are good person. If you think your a bad person, just admit, no point in lying after you just ruined your whole marriage anyways. They ask these loaded questions because they know you can't tell for sure on weather or not you told the truth or lied about it. When giving a polygraph test, you are not to ask things like that anyways. It has to be questions that have a definate answer.

Meh, didn't think much of it. A little too obvious that they've rigged the whole damn thing.

Helikaon - February 26, 2008 10:04 PM (GMT)
I had the misfortune of viewing this in a hotel once.

If only I could sue the broadcasters for wasting an hour of my life.

Cardboard Box Junkie - February 27, 2008 01:07 AM (GMT)
I just read about that woman on Wiki, that is fucking despicable. A marriage pretty much guaranteed to fail now because of a stupid game show.

Television has hit an all time new low . . who would of thought it would be possible.

solidfox - February 27, 2008 09:17 AM (GMT)
How can you even blame the show for that? If she has felt these things, and worst of all DONE these things. They shouldn't have been married anyway. Its not the shows fault that she has done such things.
