OH MY GOD THEY LOOK SO AWESOME THOUGH
Tamashi_7 - February 27, 2008 11:05 AM (GMT)
Very nice.
I seriously cannot fucking wait to get my hands on that special edition baby.

Maybe it means there might be different versions of the PS3; like some regions may get the 80GB model and others the 40GB model. Fuck knows.
micster - February 27, 2008 11:08 AM (GMT)
I personally reckon an image of Snake will be on the PS3. Cos there is on the bundle box
skywalker - February 27, 2008 01:42 PM (GMT)
That would be sweet if the image thats on the box is on the ps3. That would be the perfect ending to the game, putting him on the actuall unit.
Helikaon - February 27, 2008 02:50 PM (GMT)
Look good, although I'm not too happy with the special edition, Kojima seems content to bleed me dry.
Oh well, I'll buy it.

Is this box for the normal game or only the special edition, or do you know?
Also, is it looking like we'll be able to get the special edition with the PS3 bundle? If so, for sure I'm getting the special edition, but there's no way I'm buying it seperately. I'm too cheap for that.
KALASHsixtynine - February 27, 2008 06:18 PM (GMT)
I want the special edition. And you guys guess is probably right, there will be an image on the PS3...my guess is snake or the foxhound logo. And, i wonder if a Duelshock 3 is included...and what that second disc is...
Anyhow the box art is kickass.

The box is for Special Edition only, Which is why its not in Image 1

OcelotSnake - February 27, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
Well I'm buying both of course >_<
Looks fucking awesome but it's left me wondering what that other disc is. Document of MGS4? (It's what Payton claimed all the people attending TGS 05' wanted when Kojima asked the audience what new product they wanted from KP).
If there is an image on the PS3 then that would seal the deal and I'd have to get the bundle.

Second disk is a blu-ray disk of all the MGS4 trailers and an MGS4 making of
NINJA - February 27, 2008 07:04 PM (GMT)
There is a translation at PSU. I'll post it.
Various packages emerge
The game will consist of the main game (MGS4) and (Metal Gear Online) in all variations including the normal edition, it will also form the basis of the other 2 editions of MGS4, there are currently 3 editions scheduled to go on sale. The prices and in depth details for each edition will be released on March 21st (Please check Famitsu magazine on sale on the same day, 21st of March). Also preorders for MGS4 will also begin on the 21st of March (in Japan). Now let’s take a look at the 3 editions in a little more detail.
Normal Edition
On top of the main game this version will include (Metal Gear Online), it will form the basis of the other 2 sets. We recommend this pask to people who just want to enjoy the game.
Special Edition
In addition to the Normal edition this edition will also come with a special bonus video in the form of a blu-ray disc. The disc will include all the MGS4 trailers and also a special ‘making of’ video.
Premium Pack
In addition to coming with the Special edition this pack will come with a specially made PS3. The coloring of the machine is unknown at this moment in time but there are also expected to be other things other than the game and the special PS3 included. We are almost certain that this item will have limited numbers and thus if you are a fan you will want to get a hold of this rare item.

If this is Japan only premium pack and limited to 1000 (like some of the previous) I'll cry...a lot ;)
micster - February 27, 2008 08:07 PM (GMT)
I doubt that 100% Joe. Konami wouldnt pass up an opportunity for money and its being advertised as Special Edition, not Limited Edition like MGS3S LE was.
Mjr.Snake - February 27, 2008 08:23 PM (GMT)
oh goddamn, now's the time I regret buying the PS3, I would so like the MGS4 ps3 bundle, but oh well I'll buy the 2nd picture pack.
Roy Campbell - February 27, 2008 08:26 PM (GMT)
The special edition only contains a 'making of' disc? Well I got hyped for nothing. Don't get me wrong I would love a 'making of' disc but I was expecting a bit more. You only have to look at the GTA special edition to see the MGS4 one sucks.
OcelotSnake - February 27, 2008 08:28 PM (GMT)
micster - February 27, 2008 08:36 PM (GMT)
Please note that that only counts towards the PS3 + MGS4 bundle. We will still probably definitely get the MGS4 SE
sadistic_greyfox - February 27, 2008 08:40 PM (GMT)
I'm gonna get that Special Edition even if I have to sell a body part I'm gonna get it.
Helikaon - February 27, 2008 08:40 PM (GMT)
Surprise surprise.
Ah well, at least I wont have to sell my current PS3 to get that boxset.
Webbie - February 27, 2008 08:49 PM (GMT)
If the premium pack turns out to include everything that the 80GB PS3 bundle includes than I think I'll be buying that one instead.
Here's to hoping :D No way I'm buying the special edition game seperate from the PS3 bundle. Too expensive.
wolfie - February 27, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
the DUAL SHOCK 3 will replace the sixaxis in the bundle. Is the special edition of the game only with the bundle or I can get it in retail as a stand alone? I know is an obvious question but I am worried.

Dualshock 3 is being released standalone on April 15th.
wolfie - February 27, 2008 09:03 PM (GMT)
But is include in the MGS4 bundle replacing the SIXAXIS or so I read
http://gaming.monstersandcritics.com/ps3/n...rn_of_DualShock
micster - February 27, 2008 09:05 PM (GMT)
The PS3 bundle will have the MGS4 Special Edition with a Dualshock 3.
The MGS4 Special Edition will also be sold seperately from the PS3 bundle.
wolfie - February 27, 2008 09:07 PM (GMT)
I see what you meant before, thanks. I will have to start saving for MGS4.

Damn. No special edition for me I guess.
BTW, doesn't the DS3 have the SIXAXIS capabilities or am I mistaken? Personally I don't really like the idea of the SIXAXIS. I tend to move around a lot while I'm playing and that could cause some problems.
Liquidus_Snake - February 27, 2008 09:16 PM (GMT)
Great news....and I frecking love the boxart!!
I already own a PS3 and will buy the best Special Edition.....I hope that the PS3 bundle doesn't have anything extra the Special Edition doesn't have.....I would be most gutted :(

Why no special edition? Its not PS3 bundle only. Facks sake.
The DS3 has SIXAXIS controls but its not like every game will use it and as far as I know, MGS4 will only use it to quickly remove otacamo

I'm not getting the special edition because the PS3 bundle is expensive enough, as I'm sure getting a wireless adaptor and connecting it to the internet will be. I'd rather not spend extra money on the special edition if all it's got are the trailers (which I can watch online) and the 'making of MGS4' (which will also probably be available online at some point in time). It's just not worth it for me. I'm too cheap.

It'll be like £10 more than the normal version for an extra disk and special presentation box ....
Webbie - February 27, 2008 09:32 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure how much that would be over here, but I know that the regular version here is $60 + tax, so I'm assuming the special edition would be between $70-80, and that's just way too much for me if all I'm getting is trailers and a 'making of MGS4' disc.
If they come out with a bundle similar to the 80GB PS3 that they've already announced that includes the special edition than I'll probably go that route, but I'm not interested in buying MGS4 and then buying the special edition also. I don't like spending that kind of money, lol.
micster - February 27, 2008 09:33 PM (GMT)
I dont understand why you would buy MGS4 seperately and the special edition. The special edition has MGS4 with it, The same box and packaging as the standalone MGS4.
But whatever.
Webbie - February 27, 2008 09:36 PM (GMT)
lol, apparently it's because I'm not explaining myself well enough to you.
I'm buying the PS3 bundle that includes MGS4. For that reason, I'm not buying the special edition. I'm already spending $500 on a bundle that includes the game, therefore I'm not gonna spend another $70-80 for the special edition just for the extra disc.
micster - February 27, 2008 09:41 PM (GMT)
Oh. Well the MGS4 PS3 bundle comes with the MGS4 special edition.
Webbie - February 27, 2008 09:43 PM (GMT)
Awesome. I was under the impression that the special edition would only be sold seperately from the MGS4 bundle, which is why I didn't think I'd be getting it.

Well thats the "premium pack" advertised for Japan. The previously announced ps3 bundle with the dualshock 3 is different.
Snake Liquid - February 27, 2008 09:49 PM (GMT)
Wow, even with how plain that looks, it still looks awesome. I can not wait to get my hands on this game. This is great hearing all this news. I preordered MGS4 at Gamestop (sorry Solidus..) and hopefully I'll be able to get a Special Edition.
wertwhile - February 27, 2008 10:55 PM (GMT)
The Box Art looks really nice. Im going to get the special edition.
Speaking of which the release date of mgs4 is going to be on june 18th I just went to gamestop and the guy there said that was the date he checked through his computer which im sure is more accurate than the rumours weve been hearing.
HolySpawn - February 27, 2008 11:46 PM (GMT)
Wow *orgasm* that box art is sweet. I wonder what the price difference is going to be between special and regular edition.
