Title: Sim-racing
Description: anyone?

Last year I got myself a decent set of wheel and pedals and decided to try simulator racing. I have been crashing around with GTR2 online lately and I am slowly getting better with it. After some practice I can actually drive 5 good laps without major mistakes, which is a huge improvement from what it was in the beginning.
GTR2, by the way, is quite a different thing from Gran Turismo, which is pretty much semi-arcade for the most part.
Anyone else drive racing sims? Any pros?

Nope. I like more to play NFS racing games.

But GTR2 is SOOOO much more satisfying when you finally master you car after countless hours of practicing.
Need for speed is just the kind of racing where you can just grap a controller, take a fancy looking car and go sliding and driving through a city crashing to every other wall and win races without much thought.

Yeah, Racing Sims kick ass. There is only one winning though and that has to be the almighty Gran Turismo. Forza 2 is currently doing well to cover my Sim Racing needs, its pretty darn good.
I don't like the whole NFS type genre, they are just becoming more and more shit as each game comes out. Burnout has now unforunatly been chucked into that mix by me now, Burnout Paradise was awful, I hate the whole 'drive around the city' shit it does.

Yeah, but Gran Turismo is kind of semi-arcade and only partly simulation to be honest. The thing is that it doesn't have any real races, no damage and the cars tend to handle in a way that doesn't fully represent the way the cars handle in real life. But that is understandable as they have such a ridiculous amount of cars in the game...
But anyway, what I wanted to say is: in terms of realism, GTR is superior to any other racing game I have ever played.
