I can't beat this guy! He's impossible! i have full health with 3 rations and liquid kills me in a matter of minutes. The most damage i inflicted was half his health.

I chaffed him and as soon as i hit him with 2 missiles, he hits me and takes double the damage that i inflict on him!


any tips?

Throw a chaff grenade when it looks/feels like the other chaff is about to expire.. and just shoot at stinger at its radome.
(Just remember to keep running around and dodging his rockets.. there is no other way)
Coming onto the second part, Stay underneath REX and when it stands still fire a stinger at its beak.. Always stay underneath him, and never let him stomp on you...

i can now beat the first part within seconds its the second part. I followed ur advice but he keeps hitting me with its lazer. Im playing on my PSP so the controls are alot harder to word with.
eg. right dpad (->) = R2
Left dpad (<-) = L2

When he's using his lazer, move backwards so that he'll use the machineguns. Stay still, cause they usually miss. Hit him with the stinger. If he shoots missiles, move close to him again and repeat procedure. If he uses lazer, back up a bit more to avoid.

For the first bit, stay behind one of the walls in the bottom right hand corner, he will fire his missiles at you but they will just hit the wall. Between his missiles, move out and shoot a stinger missile at the thing on his left shoulder. Once it's destroyed (with the help of Gray Fox in a cutscene), the best way to do the second bit is to stay between his legs and he can't hit you, he doesn't know where you are and repeatedly rotates to try to find you. When under his legs, you can probably shoot the cockpit, but if you can't, just come out from under his legs, then shoot him and quickly run back under again.

As simple as this may be, you can also use stun grenades on the second part to blind liquid (since he's using his eyes instead of radar) which means you can just throw one and run out and have time to shoot him.

Make sure you dont throw the stun grenades as often as the chaff grenade's in the first round, Else you will never be able to hit him due to blindness, Anyhow.. update..

i cant get past rex either....god its annoying..

Take your time...shoot one stinger missile...another suggestion is, hiding behind the box crates in the back, throw a chaff, and then shoot.

ok i finally beat him lol. i was getting so angry..

Shoot. Chaf. Move. Shoot. Chaf. Etc.

Also, when you beat him the first time and Liquid controls him manually, just stay out of his line of vision and keep firing at him while avoiding his missels and eventually you'll take his bar down. Edit: Good job on finally beating him, if anyone else is have problems, I suggest the method I just posted. :P

takes a lil bit of practice but it works like a charm.

My advice would be just to run'n gun and don't get to close to him.

One good hint for the second part is to try and get him to throw missles at you. Just stand a bit far from him and as soon as he does that go close to him as you will easily dodge them. When that happens, take out your stinger and aim for him. Dont even wait for it to lock on, just shoot at the cockpit bc if you wait, you will be left vulnerable for him to use the laser on you

I run around him in a circle, far enough away so he shoots missiles. As soon as the third missile hits the ground, pull out the Stinger, aim at the radome/cockpit and then you have to wait it to turn slightly, giving you plenty of time to aim properly.

playing this again, it really frustrated me as well. i couldnt remember how i did it before. but this time around it took me a while but i did it. the thing is never get away from rex. always stay close to him. then slowly move away from it. when he fires the missiles then get close to him. they'll never hit you. fire your stinger when you get a chance. I think dodging his rail gun and laser thingy is pretty self explantory.

In the second part of the battle I like running between REX's legs and keeping behind him. (Watch out for his legs!) IN a few seconds, Liquid will stop REX and just look around for you. From between his legs, launch a stinger where the stinger locks on. Damage! Oh, yea!!

for the first bit i had a bit of luck, i ran between his legs and out the back and i hit the back of the radome, which blew it up completely... as for chaff, i never used them, or stun grenades, second part, run in so he fires the laser, then run back and shoot, dont move when shot at by machine gun repeat

What I say is distance is the key to this fight. When he starts firing rockets run towards his legs and take a shot at his radome. Also, alot of chaff grenades would come in handy.
