Title: MGS1 VR

Wilson - March 23, 2008 06:49 PM (GMT)
What did you think of the MGS1 VR missions?
I found them enjoyable, yet not as impressive as the MGS2 VR.

Young Snake - March 23, 2008 06:56 PM (GMT)
That's because you've probably played MGS2: Substance before you played MGS:VR Missions?

I found many missions of VR Missions to be more enjoyable than in Substance, but all in all I agree with you.

"Shalashaska" - March 23, 2008 06:59 PM (GMT)
Yeah the ones in MGSVRM are better and far more entertaining than those of Substance XD. :)

Hippysnake - March 23, 2008 07:54 PM (GMT)
Anyone here remember the last of the mystery missions on the original MGS VR?

Hahaha....

"Shalashaska" - March 23, 2008 07:59 PM (GMT)
*thinks hard*

Nope what was it?

Hippysnake - March 23, 2008 08:03 PM (GMT)
Y'know...

Kick the door down, to find a guard laying on the floor, you have 5 minutes to find out what's happened.

Only to find out he was sleeping and wakes up after the 5 minutes.

"Shalashaska" - March 23, 2008 08:05 PM (GMT)
Oh heh I remember doing that. It was fun. :)

Hippysnake - March 23, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
Fun? I remember restarting over and over again in the last 10 seconds, when I eventually gave up, and that's when I figured out that I had to let the timer run.

Frustrating is more the word...

Remember the one with the 3 guards and the Liquid wig?

"Shalashaska" - March 23, 2008 08:12 PM (GMT)
Heheh yeah that was cool. :)

Remember the Ninja ones?

I can't remember which I played first. But I will say that it is not so much the quality of MGS2 VR that is more impressive, but the variety. But by no means am I saying that MGS1 VR is bad. MGS1 is spectacular in every aspect! ^_^

sadistic_greyfox - March 23, 2008 08:26 PM (GMT)
Extremely enjoyable, me and my sis play them and try to beat each other's score. I did all MGS1 on the original disc except survival.

Hippysnake - March 23, 2008 08:33 PM (GMT)
I loved the way Snake punched the air when he got top spot...

S-SnakeJ135 - March 23, 2008 09:27 PM (GMT)
I still have it,sweet. I loved to play as Gray Fox in his VR missions but I couldn't complete the last mission though, the detective missions where awesome and lots of fun,I would always play MGS:VR first before playing MGS1.

They are much more fun than the ones of Substance. I don't know about Subsistence because I don't have it.

Too bad I can't play with the ninja. My cd of missions is from Integral and I don't have the other 2 cds. Anyone have it?

VR didn't exist during Big Boss' time in the MGS universe, so Subsistence doesn't have any VR missions. It's just an updated version of Snake Eater, the first MGO (now closed) and MG1 and 2.

I always really wanted to give them a go, after hearing a little bit about the mystery missions, those sounds really enjoyable. Playing as Gray Fox also looked like great fun.

I have the missions from MGS1, just the stuff on the the disc, none of the extras that came on special missions. I need to play these again soon actually, but I'll never get anywhere near Adnan.
Here is some insanity on it from Adnan.

My friend should be ordering me special missions anytime now, meaning I can finally experience what I have missed out on before. Looking forward to it eagerly.

Pretty much sums it up. VR missions would feel very out of place in the sixties. But I would have liked some sort of training program, albeit less modern than VR.

For their time they were perfect! But for now... I think of them as a little "poor".
No tactics, no big variety, no graphics (thats for PS1 but I mention it anyway), not many mission or characters (like Substance).

But to tell you the truth... MGS is MGS. Always on top!!!

Even after a millenium! (is that too far? )

I really enjoyed them. More than on Substance actually. It was a long time ago though. I'll probably start over again. Got 100% when I first played it (a few months after it came out), but I doubt I can do it again

Its funny, but I enjoy those and mgs1 more than I enjoy the stuff they have now. Sure duel mode is great but nothing is better than popping in the original ps1 games.
