Title: What franchises would you like to resurected

wolfie - March 23, 2008 08:43 PM (GMT)
Well on the top of my list it has to be Mechwarrior, i love the greedy feel of the universe of battletech, the mechs were a fresh concept in direct contrast with the japanese mecha that look more like suits than robots. I feel a special conection with thr house of Davion and to confirm i am a geek I collect the wizkids miniatures, although I do not play the table top game.
Next is Homeworld, love the concept, love space operas and for me there isn't a game yet that has been able to take the title of best space RTS to Homeworld. Some would say Sins of a solar empire and yes its a great game but no story injures the overall package.
Panzer Dragoon, maybe no rail shooter anymore, but the universe of this franchise is so big that can be anything and finally end the curse of dragon games that lair try to break but fail (drakengard is good not great)
Freespace, the pinnacle of space combat sims (no is not wing commander or freelancer) This game is great specially the second entry that I still play it from time to time.
Heavy gGear, another great west mech universe that was second to Mechwarrior that for some reason never got a 3rd entry.

wolfie - March 23, 2008 08:46 PM (GMT)
Thief, back in the 90's when the 3 genesis of the stealth genre were launch (thief, tenchu and metal gear solid) thief was the one with the most original concept an a true great main hero/anti-hero Garret.

solidfox - March 23, 2008 08:49 PM (GMT)
Double posting...shame shame shame. :fox:

For me....I loved playing games with my brother as a kid...like Streets of Rage. I'd still like it to be in 2d though.

Suikoden was a great rpg by Konami...wish they made more like part three. Where you can see the same story through three different characters eyes.

And the Chrono games as well.

Hippysnake - March 23, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
More blocky 2D Sonic action!

Helikaon - March 23, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
MediEvil

A proper PS3 remake for the original game and a logical follow on, MediEvil 2 was fun but setting it in London and not in the Medieval times was a mistake. Although I did like the fact that Gallowmere was London.

Resurrection was a step in the right direction, but it wasn't all that different to the original.

FearHeldDear - March 23, 2008 09:22 PM (GMT)
They should make a Max Payne 3. I still haven't played 2, but the first one was badass, and I heard the second was even better.

Also, Shenmue.

Spike88 - March 24, 2008 01:52 AM (GMT)
I agree with Mechwarrior.

And a Homeworld 3 would be awesome. They could do so much with it.

There was this game on the ps1 that I had a demo of that I'd like to see remade.
I dont remember what it was called, but you were a blue space ship thing in a side scroller, and you flew through the city collecting beam weapons, and missiles and such, and there was huge robot bosses that would transform while flying. I believe it was on a demo disk with the original MGS

also I'd like to see metal slug continue.

Gatsby - March 24, 2008 01:54 AM (GMT)
Good Final Fantasy games and Shenmue.

Puppy - March 24, 2008 02:08 AM (GMT)
Bionic Commando is already being remade so I'm happy. :)

I agree with Hippysnake. We need good Sonic games!

Null - March 24, 2008 02:22 AM (GMT)
Streets Of Rage FTW!

I would love to see that again.

God Told Me to Skin You Alive - March 24, 2008 03:18 AM (GMT)
Sega Classics. Sonic. Gunstar Heroes. Fatal Fury.
Also, I'd like to kill all the Pokemon and only bring back the Gold/Silver lineage. That would be awesome.

ichbinscissors61 - March 24, 2008 12:07 PM (GMT)
Even though it never spawned into a series, I would truly love a Hogs of War 2.
Hogs of war
This game is just pure brilliance, I love it so much, and play it quite a lot still. Kind of like worms, but with pigs, and trust me, you will not regret playing it. Anyway, I would love to see this continue, see a sequel on the PS3 or something like that, and go back to my pig slaughtering ways. Wow, I never knew if you finished the last mission without losing a pig, you could go back and take it all over again from your previous team, using team lard. The last mission is hard as hell though.
Anyway, enough babble? Seriously people, play this game.

I would also like to see Jak continued, it's another series I was sad to see finish, even if it was recently. Such an enjoyable series, one I could always relax with.

Probably another Max Payne as well, I haven't played 1, but I have played 2, and enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

And lastly, MGS, after 4 has come out. Stay, Kojima, stay, and kick Payton out! :(

Muikuli - March 24, 2008 03:17 PM (GMT)
Max Payne 3 isn't going to happen, because Remedy sold the rights to the franchise if I remember correctly.

They said that Max Payne was too one-dimensional character for more sequels to work.
They are making their new game "Alan Wake" now.

Anyway, I wish there would be Shadow Of The Colossus 2.

Also, Papyrus used to make fantastic racing simulations. I wish they would do a new Grand Prix Legends or even better, a good modern day F1 simulator.

GreySnake - March 24, 2008 03:50 PM (GMT)
Battletoads ftw.

Shinobi would be awesome too, as long as they do it right.

A good remake of Ghosts 'n Goblins would be amazing as well.

gfanikf - March 24, 2008 04:06 PM (GMT)
Shenmue III would be nice!

Amen: The Awakening (canceled PC game).

jonhou - March 24, 2008 06:33 PM (GMT)
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.
I would like all the games in the series to be remade for the PS3.

Sn4ke23 - March 24, 2008 07:49 PM (GMT)
I think Twisted Metal is coming back.

OcelotSnake - March 24, 2008 08:01 PM (GMT)
First one that comes to mind is the Oddworld series although not in the same vein as the trite on XBOX. Also Hogs of War; granted it was a Worm's clone but it was a damn good one that could do with a next gen remake or something.

I totally agree, I'd love to see the Oddworld series revived again. I was well occupied with Abe's Oddysee and Exodus when they came out. Also played Munch, but it was a bit diferent. The originals were classic though.

It seems Odworld Inhabitants have moved away from games, in favour of motion pictures. Sad, but hopefully they'll consider another installment.

Hogs of War is a really fun game, I played the demo countless times. Only tried the actual game once though, which is a shame.

I'd like another title of Jak & Daxter. It's been a long time since I played the games, but I really enjoyed them.

SYN - March 24, 2008 08:32 PM (GMT)
if they remade Medievil that would be great, the first was amazing, but the second one was a dissapointment, plus the ending was less than good. Stupid ending, ruins what you do. *anyone know off the top of their heads what the PSP verison was? was it a remake or sequel?*

A legend of Dragoon remake is good with me, no need for a sequel, just remake the first with the technology nowadays to make it an awesome turned based rpg.

Hell yeah.

Legend of Dragoon is an amazing game, I was about to suggest a sequel for it before I saw your post. I agree with you now, I would actually prefer a remake rather than a sequel.

FearHeldDear - March 25, 2008 04:54 PM (GMT)
Oh, how about Panzer Dragoon.

jc55 - March 25, 2008 05:25 PM (GMT)
Dudes, Medieval! Anyone remember this for the PS1? Never got round to playing the sequel, but I loved it.

Yeah, like three people have mentioned it in this topic.

Liquidus_Snake - March 25, 2008 07:16 PM (GMT)
"Duke Nukem" is coming back which is great. I don't however expect it to be fantastic (the trailer looked so stale) but still Duke Nukem does kick Pig ass..

I did spend countless hours playing "Duke Nukem 3-D" as a kid (what a child friendly game )

Would be great if they could repeat what they did to make it so magical for kiddies to play again..

My bad, easy now big fella.

Another one I'd go for is Max Payne. The first one was mind blowing and I don't think they went any further than the sequel.

Shyne-Bryght - March 25, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
People mentioned Shenmue, now that was a great game, on Dreamcast, then Shenmue 2 on Xbox, shame I had a PS2, I'd love to see a next-gen Shenmue.

I should have seen that one coming...

Action 52 also deserves a remake. I need to see those Cheetamen in 3D! :ph43r:

I looked it up on Wikipedia, and apparently they're planning, or at least were planning, to make a part 3, for a scheduled release in 2009. But I don't think it's gonna happen, which sucks. I still haven't even played Max Payne 2 yet, but the first one was awesome. I really hope they do 3.

GreySnake - March 26, 2008 05:23 PM (GMT)
Honestly I didn't feel that Max Payne 2 carried on with the same magnitude as the first one. The first one was just awesome, even though 3/4ths of his dialogue consisted of metaphors. It's all good though, the first one was amazing.

The second just lacked anything special in my opinion, it's like they were trying too hard to create a revamped version of the first one.

In all seriousness, I would love to see a next-gen kickass version of Battletoads. It'll never be done though.

Oh, and DIABLO III.

Come on, Blizzard.

Agreed. I used to be so hooked on Diablo II, it was such an awesome game. Fighting off the legions of Hell never gets old. I tried playing it again on my new PC, but Vista isn't compatible with anything, so it didn't work too well, even in compatibility mode.

Crash Bandicoot, and to be made by none other than ND. The guys who make it now just can't capture the original's magic.

It could be possible with handhelds and all. :D But I bet they would tone the difficulty that Battletoads is known for.
