Title: Organization Recruitment Changes
the_cobbinator - March 28, 2008 01:58 AM (GMT)
It has come to our attention that the organization system has been rather abused as of late, specifically with regard to new forum members joining organizations. When the organizations came into being a few years ago, they were intended for members who knew the ropes and wanted to interact with other like-minded members in a smaller environment.
Recently, however, the other staff and I have observed several members joining organizations mere
hours after registering on the board, or after fewer than 10 posts. For the sake of the sanity of the Admin crew (after all, we'll undoubtedly have to
remove most of these members soon enough) and, more importantly, for the sake of a stronger organization community, we've decided to make a couple changes to organization recruitment:
- New members must gain 100 posts before they can can apply for an organization in recruitment or be asked to join privately.
- Those who want to start organizations must have over 1000 posts and maintain a good standard of posting.
We believe that this will benefit both organizations and potential recruits - organizations are guaranteed to select from a pool of members who are at least somewhat familiar with the goings-on here at MGSF, and recruits have time to observe members from all organizations before applying to or receiving offers from them. Also, note that this won't have any affect on current organization members, but it will be enforced from here on out.
Finally (phew!), in addition to these rules, we must heavily advise organizations - especially organization leaders - to put serious consideration into recruiting. The organizations are a pretty important component of the forum, and like anything, we want to keep them as healthy as possible.
Thanks,
The Staff

Thank you my friend. This is an excellent new policy, and I give my props. I too find it annoying that people join the forum and after being here for a few hours they apply for an org, while the only have under 20 posts and don't know any of the rules.
This should really help clean things up.

Indeed,it's a good thing rules like this were finally made. This way, some certain people won't recruit people with 0 posts even if they wanted to -_-
Anyway, these new rules are exactly what the forum needed. My hats off to you staff ^_^

I'm glad this is such a hit. I do have to extend a huge thanks to Pricey, Tamashi and Helikaon, though, as they were the driving force behind coming up with these ideas ^_^

This is cool, it will stop people creating organisations that will go nowhere.
Young Snake - March 29, 2008 06:35 PM (GMT)
Thank you so much you guys, hope has been lit for MGSF.

Great ideas, and I completely understand and agree with the the reasons behind these new rules.
bummer for those certain people who were using this now-disallowed tactic of course, but fair is fair.

Mate, if a topic - especially in this forum - is old, and you don't have much to add, you're best off leaving it. ;)
I'll lock this.
