Title: Snake's (MGS4)Mustache

trigz - April 1, 2008 01:24 AM (GMT)
What you think of his Mustache, i would prefer it if he had the beard, like he did in MGS2, and i wouldn't care if it was white but i think it would've made him look better than just a mustache there.

What you lot think?

Draketopher - April 1, 2008 01:31 AM (GMT)
That reminds me of a shopped picture i found once.

Since Snake is old now I think 3 would be good. But I like 2 best overall. It's pretty fuckin manly.

Rev-SQ - April 1, 2008 01:56 AM (GMT)
I would've loved a beard. Then he'd look like Big Boss and all the noobs would be like "OMG WTF BIG BOSS IS TEH MANE CHRACTAR!"

Liquidon Snake - April 1, 2008 01:57 AM (GMT)
I remember that. I was always more fond of the first one. The closer to how he looked in MGS1, the better.

THANK you. I thought I was always crazy for thinking that. I liked MGS1 Snake the best. The beard I didn't mind all that much in MGS2, but I dislike his mullet. I think it's really annoying, as it's an extremely outdated hairstyle. I'm not sure if that's what you are referring to, but I liked the short hair, clean shaven Snake. Hell, I even liked the sneaking suit he wore in MGS1 the best.

skywalker - April 1, 2008 02:35 AM (GMT)
I really liked his hair in mgs1 and his suit the best of all. The crappy graffics didn't really show his face but in the codecs I thought he looked cool. They really changed his appearance.

Webbie - April 1, 2008 02:43 AM (GMT)
Personally I'm more of a beard guy, but I don't think the 'stache looks bad. I do think if you don't manually shave throughout the course of the game you should grow facial hair. That'd be a nice little touch of customization.

God Told Me to Skin You Alive - April 1, 2008 03:01 AM (GMT)
I like MGS3's model of Snake best, the 2 one looks a bit daft sometimes- his ears look huge front-on. His MGS1 Sneaking Suit is the best though, I love playing through Snake Tale C wearing it.

Soriddo Suneku - April 1, 2008 04:10 AM (GMT)
I'm not particularly picky about it.
I'm not exactly sure why he would wear a mustache instead of the all out beard, unless it just reminds him too much of the aged Big Boss.

It would be nice to have some customization though, it wouldn't be too difficult considering how easy it was to have face paint reflected in MGS3.

The Merciless Warrior - April 1, 2008 04:20 AM (GMT)
With a Big gray beard, I think he'd look too much like an elderly Big Boss. Although I wold not have mind if he was clean shaved like in MGS1. Its cool though, that mustache is kind of spiffy. They should have let Snake grow out his hair like in the beginning of MGS1. Long gray hair, but the stache would have to go then though, he'd start looking like a Ocelot rip off then.lol

scorpion_rayne - April 1, 2008 09:10 AM (GMT)
the first image looks really cool. snake looks gay with the mustache.

Snakegt - April 1, 2008 09:45 AM (GMT)
I like the mustache but the white beard would be kick ass.He would look more badass than now.

Solidcon - April 1, 2008 11:15 AM (GMT)

The 'stache is more popular then you'd think.

UrbanCombat - April 1, 2008 12:02 PM (GMT)
^ lol.

I personally don't like the moustache, it doesn't look like Snake at all. I would of wanted stubble. Keep the mullet, but cover those damn ears (look at the start of the gameplay trailer).

Wilson - April 1, 2008 12:18 PM (GMT)
The mostache suits Solid Snake! The guy looks cooler than ever!

snakeinthegear - April 1, 2008 12:28 PM (GMT)
Personally, I'd go for the grey beard look. He looks more badass but because we've seen the tash for a long time now, I'm used to it and once we see the look and hear hayter's voice along with it, I don't think his look will be that much of an issue. It'll still feel like snake.

Young Snake - April 1, 2008 12:30 PM (GMT)
The mustache looks great, it suits him. Besides, he's modelled after Lee Van Cleef, one of Kojima's favourite Western actors.

God Told Me to Skin You Alive - April 1, 2008 12:57 PM (GMT)
Wasn't Ocelot originally based on the same actor? Wonder where he's going with this.

Frank Jaeger - April 1, 2008 01:53 PM (GMT)
The beard looks the best, but the moustache does make him older which I think Kojima would preffer because of that.

fredrik - April 1, 2008 03:05 PM (GMT)
Hmmm... i think i like the number 2 or 1 best

FaizanKauser - April 1, 2008 03:15 PM (GMT)
its all about number 4 :)

MGS. - April 1, 2008 03:24 PM (GMT)
I'd prefer Snake with full beard and mustache. (like in picture number 2) Like hes was unshaved for 2-3 weeks. That only mustache style doesnt quite fit in the situation.

...and he reminds me of my grandpa! ...sort of!

doubleo sigint - April 2, 2008 12:32 AM (GMT)
I'm sure the only reason Snake has a moustache in the first place is so people can tell he's old and at the same time, not confuse him with Big Boss. The first pic kinda looks like what Snake should look like if he didn't have accelerated ageing.

Yeah, that's pretty much my reasoning on it, i still think he'd look better with a beard. Actually, i've seen a few people with my pictures i posted on gamefaqs.com a while back of snake with a beard. Granted, these aren't that great as it was when we first found out he'd have a stache pretty much (2006? i can't remember), and i did one quick one and then people gave me pointers on how to make it look better so i quickly changed it. Anywho, here they are (i've been waiting for an excuse to post them here too actually).

Those are in order of the development due to feedback people gave me. I still think he looks better with a beard, i'm just not sure if i like the first or third one best.

Granted the stache is growing on me more now, i guess it's just a matter of being exposed to it enough.

g-fox - April 2, 2008 03:51 AM (GMT)
i prefer snake like he was in mgs1 without the mullet and clean shaved,i don't mind the stache or beard,i just want him to get rid of the mullet

shiver_motion - April 2, 2008 04:01 AM (GMT)
how come people are hatin on the mullet? Do you not understand that yes it did have a dark age (the 80's) but the reason its so badass is becasue snake , the brute that he is, automatically makes it hardcore? He isnt worried about fashion, this is tactical espionage. clean cut? hell no! hes a war horse he has no time for that.

CVC - April 2, 2008 03:56 PM (GMT)
i'm so used to the mustache now i dont want anything else besides he reminds me of mario now :D

snake makes the mullet look good,on him nobody else,I'll give him that, but i just don't like the hairstyle

Boss_Snake - April 2, 2008 09:14 PM (GMT)
I think the best is 2 and 4. I just couldn't come to a conclusion, 2 is so badass and 4...I just like how Snake looks with a mustache.

SolidSnake2012 - April 3, 2008 01:31 AM (GMT)
As we can see, Snake would look something like "snakeinthegear"'s avatar. I do not like it much, Snake isn't considered, "Bad ass" in my book, he's just a super awesome tactical espionage action dude that walks around owning people with guns, and breaking bones with bare hands, etc. I prefer him in MGS1: The Twin Snakes, (when we could see Snake's face :D) without anything, or barely anything. Old people 'staches are...weird. I wonder if Raiden can give you a Shaver, that would be, sweet, and it's usable whenever you want it. As you keep your PS3 off during the night time, his 'stach re-grows, and you gotta shave it again. Kind of like the "Saving and Healing" trick with Metal Gear Solid 3, save, turn off the PS2, and turn it on like 12 hours (assuming you turned it off over night) and wake up, and Big Boss' Life Gauge is full.

And by the way, in MGS2, he had more of a beard than a mustache....either that or my 2 copies of MGS2:SOL and MGS2:SUBSTANCE are screwed up.

snoopay700 - April 3, 2008 02:04 AM (GMT)
Well solidsnake2012, he's actually got one of my images, and i happen to think he looks better with it. :P

I think he looked better with a beard, i always did. Anywho, your idea, while unique, seems like it'd be more a waste of space on the disk since it's not really needed.

Metal-Snake - May 1, 2008 01:05 PM (GMT)
I think 3 looks the best, perhaps if he shortened it a little it wolud look perfect.

anfield snake - May 1, 2008 05:49 PM (GMT)
didnt kojima wanted to implement some kind of mini game where you could shave snake, a bit like in mgs 2 or something?

i think these are good because it looks better if the beard isn't snow white. it would be cool if his hair was longer like liquid's. i wouldn't be surprised if snake gets mistaken for liquid or vice versa during the game. like meryl got him confused in mgs1. but when she saw him up close she could tell it wasn't liquid.

TOKUGAWA HEAVY INDUSTRIES - May 2, 2008 04:15 AM (GMT)
I'm with the people who like his MGS1 look the best, but I'm fine with the moustache.

VII - May 2, 2008 06:24 AM (GMT)
the mustache is great i love it makes him look older as others pointed out the full beard though makes him look like a rundown hobo

Serie - May 2, 2008 06:15 PM (GMT)
just looks more intimidating with the beard, so im going with it-

Viper - May 2, 2008 06:29 PM (GMT)
the Lee van cleef (god rest his soul) look suits snake.

heck! ill even grow one before playing it and yes im a Lee-fan

-Big_Boss- - May 2, 2008 06:30 PM (GMT)
