God Told Me to Skin You Alive - April 3, 2008 01:02 AM (GMT)
QUOTE
Not only were we getting a chance to complete the game before anyone else, but we were making an impact on the overall game that will launch worldwide on June 12th.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Otherwise, pretty interesting, but they haven't really told us anything new. June 12th can't come faster.
The Merciless Warrior - April 3, 2008 03:03 AM (GMT)
This game is going to be grand. I'm glad I did not learn more about the story, it keeps me anticipated. It looks like MGS4 is becoming quite the success. Just a little over two more months left.
TruOtaku - April 3, 2008 03:45 AM (GMT)
To anyone who has read the articles on IGN,
Are there any type of spoilers in them??? I don't want to find anything out.
Helikaon - April 3, 2008 03:49 AM (GMT)
No story spoilers. But a few new images, but only of Snake and the new FOXHOUND battling against the FROGS and a few of Snake sneaking. Nothing spoilerish really.
DrunkMario - April 3, 2008 03:50 AM (GMT)
"But let me first preface that statement with one new piece of info that we hadn't previously known. Whereas previous Metal Gear Solid games have been relatively linear in their approach, MGS4 is much more of an open-world affair."
Sounds good to me, chief. ^_^
Frank Jaeger - April 3, 2008 10:48 AM (GMT)
Goodbye Snake...
QUOTE
really don't want to say that this the final game or this is the wrap up, but if I don't say it, people will make me create MGS again! (laughs) So I have to say, 'Die, Snake,' and really end it so I can move on to something else! (laughs) Actually, it's a game, so even if Snake dies, the game can live on. We have to kill him at a certain point.
FaizanKauser - April 3, 2008 03:44 PM (GMT)
I wish i was kojimas son lol :)

MGS4 is much more of an open-world affair.
QUOTE
Snake will come across the horrors of war.
QUOTE
Even though his clothing looks like that of the locals, he hasn't fully earned the trust of the militia.
QUOTE
By choosing to fight alongside the militia, you can slowly build confidence with the warriors.
QUOTE
These troops won't merely walk along simple patrol paths. They'll actively scan environments for trouble, communicating anything suspicious to their comrades and call in for backup, making them much more threatening than previous enemies Snake has faced.
QUOTE
We did notice that unconscious soldiers did appear to be knocked out much longer than in previous Metal Gear Solid games, regardless of whether we took them out with our fists, an electric shock from our stun blade, a tranquilizer dart or by being rolled over by drum can.
QUOTE
While Snake is somewhat exposed as he's adjusting the trajectory of the weapon, he can fire an unlimited amount of shells on troops and vehicles alike
He's got unlimited mortar ammo?
QUOTE
If you're not that soldier and you attempt to fire their gun, you get absolutely no response whatsoever (call it the ultimate trigger lock).
Fucking Awesome!!
QUOTE
The more violent the conflict in the world, the more Drebin points you receive. Players can then use these points to unlock these collected weapons for their use, or players can save their points up to purchase ammunition or items in Drebin's shop, such as laser sights, hand grips and flashlights.
QUOTE
What's more, you can even get more for your Drebin Points if you return to the shop on certain in-game "days," as Drebin will offer sales for Snake so he can get the best bang for his buck.
QUOTE
The Mark II can act as your conduit to Drebin, automatically converting any weapons into Drebin Points while saving the ammunition for Snake.
QUOTE
As I said earlier, there's only so much I can go into right now, but this is the system seller that we've all known Metal Gear Solid 4 was going to be.
QUOTE
This preview has only scratched the surface; we haven't even described some of the bosses, radical and innovative game mechanics, or other features that make this title a fitting conclusion to one of the best franchises in gaming.
QUOTE (Hideo Kojima)
I called Ryan (Payton) to help me out – actually, I didn't listen too much to Ryan (laughs)

Hmm whats the context of this comment? Because that is pretty much heaven to any old school fan's ears (i.e. those who don't like the changes in controls)
snake_ultsol - April 3, 2008 05:38 PM (GMT)
^ I think he was talking about MGO.
Mikey - April 3, 2008 06:17 PM (GMT)
By the sounds of it this game is going to be superb, best peice of news this year :D

every single weapon that Snake comes across is immediately translated to Drebin points, representing its current world value in the theater of war during a given day. The more violent the conflict in the world, the more Drebin points you receive. Players can then use these points to unlock these collected weapons for their use, or players can save their points up to purchase ammunition or items in Drebin's shop, such as laser sights, hand grips and flashlights. These additional items can improve the accuracy or stability of a weapon, making it much better in combat. What's more, you can even get more for your Drebin Points if you return to the shop on certain in-game "days," as Drebin will offer sales for Snake so he can get the best bang for his buck.
*Slaps Head*
Oh dear what have they done.....
snake_ultsol - April 3, 2008 07:41 PM (GMT)
^ Why do you seem disgruntled? In my opinion, its a great feature and adds that little bit of excitement to the game. *Your in the middle of a firefight, your ammo is all out .. you pick up a gun - click, click - don't work.*

Indeed, but the bullets do get saved, so if you see a weapon, it doesn't neccesarily mean it's of no immediate use.
Draketopher - April 3, 2008 11:15 PM (GMT)
I don't really like the "Drebin Points" That's maybe just 'cause i don't like the name. It just seems silly to me. I guess it could work out well but I guess we'll see.

At least it's better than Drebin Dollars...
I have no problems with the system myself, it's a logical solution for the game designers to get around the ID tag system from the story but also have it affect gameplay. Although I expected it to work similar to Dark Sector, where you can fire the ID tagged weapons for a few rounds before it works out you're not the tagged user.
MGS. - April 4, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
Nice job dude! ^_^
Except from the images there's nothing new but OK.
Almost every day we see another interview or an article about MGS4 and I'm wondering how many more are we going to see.
I think they covered all the bacis and if they continue there might be many spoilers.
I cant wait until the final release.
Great job again mate.
Meeshman - April 4, 2008 11:12 PM (GMT)
I was exiceted about this game, but I thought they were going to jack up the realism, now this is about as realistic as super smash bros. brawl.
Mikey - April 4, 2008 11:34 PM (GMT)
Realistic in a game that has massive robots which can fire nuclear missles, clones from the 1970s, someone living through an arm, a man who appears to be immortal and can run on water
Meeshman - April 5, 2008 07:23 PM (GMT)
Don't be obtuse, you knew exactly what I was talking about; gameplay.
