Yogpod - April 5, 2008 02:50 PM (GMT)
1. I am kinda new to MGS series, and i am about to get the essential collection, so i wanna know in which order should i play the 1st 3 games. What do you suggest?
2. Where can i find a good lore source for the series?
Thank you in advance.

You're supposed to play MGS3 first, then MGS1 then MGS2, soon MGS4! :D

So which way to go to recieve max pleasure?
I heared that the best way is to play the 3rd last.

If you started with the 3rd you would get really frustrated with the lack of controls and abilities that mgs1 has. I would suggest playing them in order of 1 2 3 because the game tactics advance, if you started with 3 you probably wouldn't like mgs1.

Best to play in order. You will be playing in the order they are meant to be played, therefore feeling the shock from the storyline twists! Play them in order.

I would love to be able to learn the story in order of the games. To be suprised as things unfold. I envy you for that. But I think if you play Snake Eater first you will definately not like the first 2 as much if you played them in release order. Way to much has been added, especially the subsistance camera, cqc, and being able to pan and shoot from first person view. I would hate to get used to that only to have it taken away going back to mgs1.
But its really up to you, do you want a kick ass story progression or kick ass game and graphics progression.

Play them in order of release, as suggested. Only when you've got a good overview of the MGS history, should you play them in order of timeline.

I truly wouldn't like MGS3 as much if I played it first. I say 1, then 2, then 3. Cause three makes a lot of references to clear things up from two. But if you played three first and two last, you'd be missing out on a few things for quite a while.
So just play in order of numbers. 1, 2, 3. Clears things up a lot better. Although threes timeline is a prequel to 1...it wasn't made first for a reason. So don't play it first.

I think you have your answer Yogpod, play them in the order of release.
