Title: 60GB PS3 or 40GB PS3

trigz - April 6, 2008 03:40 PM (GMT)
Well what do you think i should get?

60gb
you can play all PS2 games (backwards compatibility)
More ports
Memory Card Flash drives...
and basically 20gb of more memory.

40gb
Cheaper
Has a better, quicker Motherboard
(well that all i can think of for 40gb ps3)

Any help please
Which one shall i get?

the 60 has been discontinued, meaning you can't buy them anymore at any store unless you go on eBay or something but it's likely the price will be twice as high
I'm guessing you live in EU,so the 80 gig hasn't been released over there to me knowledge, you should wait till it does cause that's backwards compatible like the 60,but it's your choice go with what you want, the 40 is like half a ps3 though

The 60 GB PS3 isn't on sale anymore, they've stopped production. But you can still buy it on the net on certain sites I guess. If you can, buy the 60 GB. If not, buy the 40 GB and download PS2 games.

Depends really. If you have a PS2, get the 40 GB.
60 GB is only for those with a large collection of PS2 games and are willing to experiment and see whether they run properly on it or not.
If you haven't even owned a PS2 until now, just go for the 40 GB.

EDIT: Oh yeah 60 GB isn't sold anymore. So you're pretty much left without a choice.

Yes i know you cant get a 60gb from stores but i know other places where you can get it from such as Ebay or some random shops down the road...

But what im asking is what shall i get, what do you lot recommend?

Geez,do you actually want to listen? Do you have a PS2 or not?

If you DO, then just go out and get a 40 GB.

FaizanKauser - April 6, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)
Go get 60GB :) If you cant then 40GB because you can still connect your pst up by using the same AV port and the the ps2 wire right ?

I'm happy enough with my 40 gig, I've still got a fully functional Ps2 to play my Ps2 games on so thats all I need really..

@g-fox, LOL it's not like 'half a ps3' at all.

Roy Campbell - April 6, 2008 07:07 PM (GMT)
While a 60GB PS3 would be preferable, you have no option.

Yes you could get one on Ebay but have a look at the prices, they go for around £350-£400, much more than the £299 asking price of a 40GB PS3.

As annoying as it is, EU have got screwed over yet again.

yes it is,i can't play any mgs games on it or any ps2 games either,it didn't even come with a eithernet cable,i had to go a buy one,it has fewer slots for stuff and other things i can't remember of  ,but it doesn't matter i'm getting rid of it and getting the bundle

Null - April 6, 2008 07:48 PM (GMT)
Well, I disagree. I bought my Ps3 for next gen gaming..I don't care all too much about Ps2 games anymore.

Some of us don't even need an ethernet cable either..I just use wireless.

Fewer slots...

Who cares?

Who would need to use the SD card slots? Unless of course you wanted to put photos onto your PS3, which I see no reason to as you can't upload them onto the Internet as the browser doesn't support it. If you want to show them off then thats what PC's and MySpace are for.

The USB slots, fair enough, theres only two on the 40GB slots. I don't need anymore, but one more would be nice I suppose. But everything that makes the PS3 what it is (a high class gaming system) is still present.

scorpion_rayne - April 7, 2008 09:39 AM (GMT)
so if you have a ps3 40 gig, you can download ps2 games and use them as if you had a ps2?

Draketopher - April 7, 2008 11:21 AM (GMT)
If you can find a 60 I suggest you get that one. Bigger hard drive and BW compatibility is always good.

kurt cobain - April 7, 2008 11:47 AM (GMT)
tbh when they stated they would stop the 60 i run out and got one i would go for the 60 gb one every time cause you dont really need to have another console out then wasting more space
