Title: How is your PS3/Wii/XBOX 360 sitting?
Description: Standing upright or on it's side?

Webbie - April 10, 2008 01:23 AM (GMT)
I'm just wondering whether you guys have your systems standing upright or on their side? Also, more importantly, does it actually matter which you choose? Your system isn't less likely to continue functioning properly when you have it sitting in either position for extended periods of time is it, or is it? I'd like to know for sure.

I remember a couple times in the past that I had my PS2 standing upright, but the majority of the time it was on it's side, and my 360 has always been on it's side. I've never had any problems with my 360, but I did have to replace one of my PS2s. I didn't know if maybe sitting them on their side was bad for them or not.

Lying on the side. Whenever I look at my PS3 standing I keep thinking its gonna fall.

Fat lot of chance of that now.

HolySpawn - April 10, 2008 02:03 AM (GMT)
I think the same as you Heli, i never stand up any of my systems because i had a regular Xbox and it accuatly fell off of my tv and broke something inside so i had to sell it but luckily i sold it at EB games for full price :D now i don't want to take any chance with my Ps3 i am being as carefull as possible.

Yackemflaber - April 10, 2008 02:13 AM (GMT)
tis sideways

the day my console stands up is the day it enslaves the human race

solidfox - April 10, 2008 02:50 AM (GMT)
Wii Standing up.

PS3 On its side.

360 Standing up.

Jiro - April 10, 2008 04:38 AM (GMT)
All systems should be on their sides unless you come up with an ingenious way to keep it steady (and oh not scratch your disks) like the Nintendo Wii.

sadistic_greyfox - April 10, 2008 06:00 AM (GMT)
My PS3 is standing up, it's between 2 pieces of wood though not very likely that it could fall.

Hippysnake - April 10, 2008 06:47 AM (GMT)
Most consoles SHOULD be kept flat, this is mainly to avoid wearing out the hub, and sometimes, certain discs fail to register when the console is kept upright.

For example SSBB, there were many issues regarding Wii's with this game, but most were resolved by laying the console flat.

Oh and-

Wii- Flat
Wii2- Flat
360- Flat
PS3- Flat

kurt cobain - April 10, 2008 08:19 AM (GMT)
i stand all mine up ive been told you shouldnt but i dont have the space for keeping all 3 of em flat

bazzer - April 10, 2008 09:47 AM (GMT)
Well in my opinion, most consoles are designed for lying down, except the Wii which is best standing tbh, but meh, everything cept wii is lying down.

UrbanCombat - April 10, 2008 11:20 AM (GMT)
Well I stand my PS3 up and nothing has happened yet, I think it looks much better standing up you can see why here:

Suits well with the TV unit.

My ps3 on its side, I'm worried it would fall over by some freak accident lol.

FaizanKauser - April 10, 2008 12:42 PM (GMT)

UrbanCombat - April 10, 2008 12:51 PM (GMT)

On it's side, just like Helo I feel the same :P

Anyway there is a side of the PS3 and the ventilation goes out from there, once I put it on that side.

Then the PS3 made like wooooooooo it was getting louder just about to explode I totally freaked out and took my PS3 sitting again.

Anyway sitting is better for me also the disc input and stuff

My PS3 is standing up mainly because I have no room to lay it down. It won't fall over because I rarely touch it hard enough to tip it, and it's on a cabinet, so that won't just fall apart. If in some hugely unlikely situation it did fall, it would only hit the wall or the side of my TV, both of which are about ten centimetres away from the PS3 on either side.

My Wii stands up because I have that uber sexy stand for it.

krypton_ls - April 10, 2008 04:44 PM (GMT)
PS3 is flat - the way it should be. ^_^

rayofdoom - April 10, 2008 04:54 PM (GMT)
for security purposes you should have them laying down,

- in the 360s case you should alway have it on the side as a simple nudge could damage your discs. so its safer that way.

- for PS3 it doesnt matter which way you have it, i used to have mine laying down but that way is collected a lot of dust and was more confined but didnt want stand it up because i was scared of it being knocked over, i have it up right now since i bought a stand for it to keep it secure and it has more exposure to air now to keep it cool.

and it looks nicer standing.

I've heard in certain places that keeping it on it's side reduces the chance of overheating for both all three consoles.

This is all just hear-say but I do it anyway, cause you never know, right?

micster - April 10, 2008 05:08 PM (GMT)
My PS3, Wii and PS2 are all verticle.

Metalmalitia23 - April 10, 2008 05:12 PM (GMT)
I have mine flat on a shelf and i did have a nyko intercooler attached to it but that thing is so god damn loud that i just took it off. Plus the device covers up the power button so when i shut off the fan it shuts the system completley off and i cant leave it in standby without the fan raoring then i cant use the PS button to turn the system on. Im gonna sell that shitty thing.

Roy Campbell - April 10, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
My Xbox 360 is Horizontal, it runs so much better. When my Xbox 360 was vertical, Lost Odyssey used to crash every time and I didn't know why. When I turned it on its side, it worked perfectly and made every other games works much smoother as well.

My Wii is vertical though, mainly becuase it makes it look 10 times more sexy.

Spirit of Desire - April 13, 2008 09:56 PM (GMT)
My 360 elite ( i know it dosent make a difference but i like to say it) is stood up. Plain and simply because my house is extremly hot all the time. and the cooling unit works better upright.

For those who keep their PS3 vertical...

Very nice link, cheers. ^_^

Draketopher - April 14, 2008 12:22 AM (GMT)
I have both on it's side because it doesn't cover the main vents and also I can't fit it anywhere standing up anyways.

FearHeldDear - April 15, 2008 12:59 AM (GMT)
My Wii's standing up next to my TV. It would look stupid laying flat. Plus I wouldn't have anywhere to put it.

phippsy05 - April 15, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
My 360 has always been on its side, and ps2 was always on its side.

When i bought my 360 from gamestation the bloke said. 'Make sure its well ventillated and laid flat, microsoft say it performs better upright, but weve had a lot more come back broken which have been stood upright'.............worked for me so far. ^_^

WhySoSerious - April 20, 2008 05:50 AM (GMT)
I have my 360 laying down cause when I had it up I got the 3 red lights and I had to send it back in to get another one. So I have it down and its been good so far. When I get my PS3 I will have it laying down as well.

Gene - April 20, 2008 12:41 PM (GMT)
I had my ps2 standing but I got bored of it that way so when I got my ps3 I had is lying down.

Patriot1981 - April 25, 2008 06:12 PM (GMT)
Mine is is just laying down next to my ps2 like.

ichbinscissors61 - April 25, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
All my consoles lie flat. My Xbox lies down, as you can't exactly get that brick of a machine to stand up. And the PS2 tends to lie on top of it. Either way, I like them all lying down. It means you can't kick them down by accident, and they're not going to fall either, through any other means.

I'll also lay down my PS3 when I get it. I just prefer it that way, though perhaps I need to move them a little further out from the wall they're near, need to make sure they have good ventilation.

skywalker - April 25, 2008 07:10 PM (GMT)
I always lay everything flat because for one I dont want them to fall over and 2 my receiver and dvd player lay that way so it would look weird to have it standing up.

Meryl_silverburgh - April 27, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
kay...............ps3 laying kicked under the tv
