Title: The High-Tech Solders Truth?
Description: I rarely post here. I want to know this.

RageKill - April 12, 2008 12:55 AM (GMT)
Okay, okay.

I've been playing Metal Gear Portable Ops Plus for a pretty long while now; at least before Christmas. I've beaten Extreme Mode only 11 times and captured a brief amount of High Techs.

I've used them in fights and noticed something.

Now most people say that they have better aiming than normal solders, which I tested and am confident I can say that this is wrong.

I have also never had a High-Tech with one S. I have one with all As, but not one S.

So... I'd like to ask is that is there anything special about High-Techs?

I'd like to say that they have more health and stamina than usual but all solders have a certain limit to their stats from what I've witnessed ( Genomes have low life except for my Black Genomes and FOX usually have 300 if earned from Extreme mode. ).

Though, I have a good theory that they have auto-body armor or head shot protection.

Body armor because they drop it usually and this is visually seen. Headshot protection because in their description it states this.

Does anyone really know?

lonelydude10 - April 12, 2008 03:33 AM (GMT)
They dont go past an A rank in anything. No since their rank only goes to A they dont necessarily aim any better than any other A soldier. And no they dont really have any kind of bonus. My yellow genomes up to 380Hp by the way while my black only have 280...

Crimson Knight - April 12, 2008 06:32 PM (GMT)
I heard someone say that because they have helmets on that it's harder to land headshots. Although I'm not sure if that's true.

Foxide - April 12, 2008 10:05 PM (GMT)
I don't know if many people would agree, but High-Tech Soldiers appear to be a stat higher than they actually are - ie, an A High-Tech Soldier would perform as an S High-Tech Soldier. I have been playing Portable Ops Plus for a fair amount of time as well, and I have noticed this through online play.

They do take less damage from headshots, yes. I am fairly sure of this. About the Body Armour thing, well, I don't know. I shall set up some sort of test soon.

Wayno - April 12, 2008 11:27 PM (GMT)
Yeah I've seen a few high techs take a few AK headshots before dying.

I was wondering if the Tengu armour acted like body armour as the description says: "Tengu posses superior combat effectiveness thanks to their full body armor and artificial muscle tissue."

lonelydude10 - April 14, 2008 02:54 AM (GMT)
Tell ya the truth ive never seen anyone play as a high tech online...

Part of me wants to say "no" only because that would mean everyone would use them, and where is the fairness in that? What if I like Fox Soldiers?? You know what I mean?

lonelydude10 - April 15, 2008 01:39 AM (GMT)
Yeh.... do any soldiers really get any special ability over any others?

francisl92 - April 18, 2008 10:32 PM (GMT)
well yeah each kind fo sodlier have sumthign special like the Gambling career comes more often with the Seal and Major Or lieutnant career comes more often with the High rank officer

Each kind of soldier has different probabillity of getting a specific career

Not that I know of... but you can actually aim in FP.
Also I finally got a H-T over 300 life!

I captured one with a base HP of 300 jst yesterday

300 Life, 417 Stamina 48 Sense, B^,A^,A^,B,B,B^,C,B^,A^,C,C^

Deliveryman
Stuntman

Not too shabby really.

Captured one with a base HP of 293 but it's capped at 293 :(

lonelydude10 - April 22, 2008 01:44 AM (GMT)
Yeh mine had a base of 293 and 299 one is about 320 now and the other about 307... maybe 20k exp so i got a while to go

G.J.V. - April 22, 2008 06:26 PM (GMT)
I just got me a High-Tech with a base of 307 life

lonelydude10 - April 23, 2008 02:26 AM (GMT)
My one has about 340 now probably will cap around 350-360 though :(

Barrons - April 23, 2008 01:32 PM (GMT)
when you get a solidier at say 200 or 300 how much health can they go up by? or is every soldier differant?

as on mpo it was by 60hp.........

lonelydude10 - April 24, 2008 02:00 AM (GMT)
Its different for each person I have a genome that went up 20 life with 2k experiance. Then I had a Maintenance that only went up 10 life.

Barrons - April 24, 2008 02:39 AM (GMT)
well me personally would never train a solder up who is below 250 hp as for online is to low and to is to much effort :P

i like high hp and stam.

Crimson Knight - April 24, 2008 11:41 AM (GMT)
Before I got access to the internet, I just spend hours training soldiers on Infinity Mission. I have 155 soldiers, and over 100 of them have over 300 HP. I pick and choose carefully.

ValWolf - April 28, 2008 05:50 PM (GMT)
There helmets reduce head shot damage slightly.

lonelydude10 - April 30, 2008 02:17 AM (GMT)
But with the highest health one I got is 350 I dont see the point since most of their stats are low.

High-Tech Soldier - May 1, 2008 05:23 AM (GMT)
You obviously can't play like i can when using HT's...
I have a team of HT soldiers all with over 350 HP, careers like Athlete, Deliveryman, Headhunter, scout, etc, and i constantly beat people who use S3 (in whatever) soldiers.

And don't tell me they're inferior, i can snipe almost anybody with my A's

:P

lonelydude10 - May 2, 2008 01:44 AM (GMT)
Well considering that S3 soldiers can only get 299 Health I think the 350 Tengus.. would win

I have to agree with you there.
High-Techs are awesome!
The face guards effectively give them a smaller head, so it's harder for people to headshot them.
Although it might be better to have S or above in something, A is really all that's neccesary to use it well.
And, let's be honest, they look pretty damn cool.

The only downside to the High-Techs as far as I'm concerned is that you can't see the sight if you aim in first-person with a handgun, but that's easily avoided - don't use a handgun.

fox die - May 2, 2008 09:56 PM (GMT)
i just dont like hi tecs they look fat theyr slow and have sucky life stam and skills =p i stck to seals they seem to have good stats stam and life for example i have a seal with 400 life S in med assults h.guns and heavy weapons, he also had 450 stam.

Crimson Knight - May 3, 2008 11:31 AM (GMT)
Wouldn't it be cool if the High Techs had a bad ass first person view? Soliton Radar, option for thermal imaging, sweet Heads-Up-Display? yeeeea!

RageKill - May 3, 2008 12:05 PM (GMT)
Eureka!

Today on AP Scout I found a High-Tech and...
He has all A's!

His life is pretty low; 14X but his stamina is 560

His sense is 45; which would be an A if it was a stat.

Victory?

I got a HT with 350 life and 999 stamina... so yeah theyre not that bad... maybe its just I cant aim in FP...

SockpuppetX - May 6, 2008 01:46 AM (GMT)
Ok, now I think that I'm going to start adding some High-Tech's into my units and using them, just cause I have so many and would just like to use them and see how combat effective they are first-hand.
