Title: Difference MGS2 <> MGS2 Substance
Hound - April 12, 2008 06:15 AM (GMT)
I know about the dog tags, but what are the other differences between MGS2 and MGS2 Substance; apart from the VR Missions and Snake tales off course. Like maybe weapon/ammo locations, ... ?
xAlwaysOpenMouthx - April 12, 2008 06:27 AM (GMT)
All of that is still the same.

Also you get a Suppressor for the USP after you beat the game once, located around the same place as the Thermal goggles and in the plant chapter you only get to find the shaver if your playing under Extreme.

the thermal goggle is different and the hanging line in the tanker engine room was removed ...
sadistic_greyfox - April 12, 2008 08:07 PM (GMT)
It was? I dion't think the line was removed man. I remember playing it a couple weeks ago and using it.

Also some of the posters of the women change, in the plant chapter. Yes, I can remember a few of them perfectly. Also the woman on the front cover of the book changes, from Jennifer Lopez to a woman I didn't recognise.
The other change I can think of just now is that the coolant spray trick to drive off the alert from the Tengus will not work in Sub. This makes this section of the game more of a challenge on the higher difficulties.

What's the trick Ich? I remember when I was fighting them in that circular room with snake I went to where the ladder was located, stooped downand kept constantly spraying it infront of me to have snake pick them off. Was going for a no kill game.

Here it is man, done by Anonymityhope. I have managed this also on SOL, but it does not work at all for Substance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YdPoqUx2EE&feature=relatedVery easy and very weird way to do the Tengus.
sadistic_greyfox - April 12, 2008 10:08 PM (GMT)
LOL, that's the same tactic I use just I let snake pick them off instead of putting him to sleep.
ichbinscissors61 - April 12, 2008 11:32 PM (GMT)
Ah, right. Wasn't sure if this is quite what you meant. Pretty nice idea with Snake, if only it worked so well on higher difficulties, the idiot keeps getting killed. Well, this trick works great in SOL, and I advise people to try it out for safe passage past the Tengus. Just try not to let them recover from the spray.

A very small difference but the guards in the fight in the Starboard in the Tanker :-) spawn faster than that of in SoL.
