Title: AP Scan Guide
Description: Where I got at least 50 solders.

RageKill - April 12, 2008 04:53 PM (GMT)
Yeah, nobody really knows me good or at all even. But I pretty much mastered every aspect to conquer the "AP Scan".

What is AP Scan?

AP Scan is a mode that is accessible via WLAN. Meaning, when you turn this little switch on and go to AP Scan mode, you can search for an access point and get solders who are exclusive via AP Scan and download. Nothing else to this little diddy.

Well what is an Access Point?

I'm not quite sure what determines if it is an access point but I can hypothesize that an Access Point can be found in cars ( I guess the radio or antenna... maybe GPS) or cable in your TV. ( Linked to satellites ).

Anything Wi-Fi related to my understanding.

When should I go in AP Scan?

This is probably obvious. When you are going somewhere by a car ride or anything near traffic, you'll get a bunch of solders. If you're lucky, you may get an Ocelot Unit or Genome Solder.

I can't get any solders...

You probably don't meet the requirements. What I suggest is this.
  • Use All Male solders or the females with the glasses.
  • Make sure one of your solders has bad sense and one have high sense. ( I use Elisa or Null for that sometimes.)
  • All the solders are recommended to be maxed in stats and each one having deferent codenames (Tsuchinoko can be easily obtained in easy mode)
  • Try to have a lot of deferent careers on each solder.
  • One solder should have low life or really high stamina. (Low life should be at least under 100 from my knowing.) High stamina is over 500 or 600.
  • Good stats on your solders. S2 is hard to come by but I've gotten powerful KGBs who needed for me to have a good solder with shotgun skills.
  • Rarely, some solders will ask if you have a unique. I've seen this roughly... once.
Don't worry about this. If you have all of the above in one team you'll get 8/10 of the people you see.

Hope this helps.

Very well written. I like it! Some of my best guys I've gotten through AP Scan. I noticed that none of them ever maxed out with an S2 rank in anything. Just my luck, or is this not possible, you think?

Some of my online comrades have gotten S3 soldiers through AP Scan - and it is an actual fact that the AP Scan function produces better results than those of the original Portable Ops AP Scan function. I have only really gotten S and S2-stat soldiers from AP Scan, but you just might get a good soldier from AP Scan a couple of times. But if you have an S soldier with low health, don't discard him - it is a known fact that S3 soldiers always have low health.

I forgot to mention about the stats and traits being completely random.

They are all ready random when you go on Infinity Missions, but as you notice careers such as GAMBLER usually come with SEALS.

Also, Stats are random. And if you delete a solder from AP Scan, you can get them again if you go to that same point ( actually tested this. )

I usually take their items and release them if the soldiers have less than 220 health

I do that, or, sometimes I just throw them into RC missions and see what happens! ^_^

Unless theyre Ocelot unit.... then i keep em.

If the stats are 200hp+ and 500 stamina+ and an A for CQC and rifles, I'd keep em'. Other than that, I'd just keep the item and discard the soldier. Oh yeah RageKill, I think you need 800+ stamina if they are looking for a soldier with high stamina. Also, I encountered two soldiers looking for uniques. One was looking for Big Boss and one was looking for Roy Campbell.

Ive also seen one looking for Raiden

The ones looking for specific colored genomes are the most annoying, though the most rare I think.

lonelydude10 - April 21, 2008 02:07 AM (GMT)
Usually I get 100 life doctors looking for specific genomes...
Is there anyway to tell what soldiers youll get wherever it seems i always get pretty much the same type of soldiers each week at the same spot then they change.

RageKill - April 21, 2008 11:53 AM (GMT)
It never changes...

Only the names change.

About the colored Genomes:

Maybe bring 2 colored Genomes?

Crimson Knight - April 21, 2008 01:41 PM (GMT)
Maybe it's me, but I noticed that if you discharge a soldier you find through AP scan, he's back at the SAME spot a few days later. Then again, if you keep him, you never get another soldier from that spot again. Which is kinda cool, I think.

lonelydude10 - April 22, 2008 01:47 AM (GMT)
Thats why i keep sending the same 3 female ocelots over and over on online trade and gettin more...

Barrons - April 22, 2008 10:38 AM (GMT)
i had an female ocelot unit ask me ' have you got a j on your head?'

meaning i need johnny, still haven't encounted him in extreme yet, so couldnt recruit her.

ap scan is the best way to get characters all i have found are over 200 hp, think is rare to get one with 300 though.

only encounted one genome soldier

lonelydude10 - April 23, 2008 02:30 AM (GMT)
Ive only seen one High Tech soldier on this.. 207 life... I got rid of him

holyclericz - April 23, 2008 07:53 AM (GMT)
I got an ocelot male soldier from ap scan with 311 hp and S in rifles. Then I got him killed in boss rush <_<

Barrons - April 23, 2008 01:27 PM (GMT)
ap scan is like playing extreme without the effort and you get execise, ha

i walk around where i live most of the house in my estate have wifi so i get soldiers all the time and even at college is loads of access points.

lonelydude10 - April 24, 2008 01:58 AM (GMT)
I ride my school bus... Im lazy :)

Barrons - April 24, 2008 02:40 AM (GMT)
another question is, if you always use the same access point will you always get the same soldier from then aswell? or do they change everyday?

as some points i seems to get the same one from as i recruit them and discharge some as they are no toss

I noticed I get the same person... I'm pretty sure their stats are exactly the same, too. Just their name is different.

lonelydude10 - April 26, 2008 02:39 AM (GMT)
I found a 305 soldier today that i never saw before even though ive been on the same route for about a month now
