Lol whenever I play MGS1 i always seem to forget the thermal goggles.

can someone please get em for me and save in the area before u fight mantis.

just finish him off without them, it's not that hard. you can get the thermal goggles on your way back from wolf.

Thermal Goggles are not necessary for the Mantis fight at all.
You don't even have to switch controller ports and it's still pretty easy.

I've gotta warn ya (as a guy that is always skeptical on clicking random links). As a guy with only one post and asking for somebody to open a file on their PS3 these days, its very unnerving.

They are very easy to get, just go back to the first tank hanger (the area you come into when crawling through your first vent shaft in the game.) they are on the top floor in one of the doors just under a camera. Is VERY easy to do and won't take to long to get. I don't use em much for the mantis fight, but I find them to be very helpful with land minds and such.

Its not difficult to defeat Psycho Mantis with out the thermal goggles.
Even if it was... you cant play the game again from the beginning and just take them.
Is that too hard or are you bored? :huh:

Yeah mantis aint that hard, its just i dont want to go so far back for the thermals.

is thermal needed at all in the game or is it just optional ???

i only played up to the part after u defeat mantis, but i lost my data so im replaying it on my ps3

ahaha crap i didnt even get the T goggles!
but there wasnt any point in the game where i thought damn! if only i had them..
im sure you can still pass the game without them,,,

They may help you a lot but they are considered optional. For me you need the thermal goggles in three places and only to make your life easier:

• At the cargo holds where the infrared sensors are and if you trigger them then the doors lock and gas is released
• For claymore mines
• Against Mantis.

But again you can use substitutes for the Thermal Goggles on the above cases:

• Use the cigarettes
• Use the claymore mine detector or simply crouch down and move
• Mantis appears several times and you can get pretty decent hits and after you consume half of his life bar he doesnt use his stealth camouflage at all.

new problem '; ) im in the tower right before u fight liquid but i dont have any rations or chaff grenades so its impossible to go up the stairs cuz of the turret cams.

My only suggestion would be is to just run.

Same here...to be complete honest, I'd like to know how you've run out of chaff grenades by then...I think that is the only part of the game I even use em...so I always have an over abundance of em by then.

Unfortunately though, even if you make it past the guns, you'll only have like one...possibly two I can't recall, ration waiting for you to use for the Liquid fight. Its a rather easy fight tbh, but first time through you might use one up for the fight.

Seriously, that's the only part of the game chaff grenades are really useful on. Besides the fight with MG Rex. I'd be more diligent about picking those kinds of things up. And at the top of the stairs there's a ration, and outside on the roof there's another one if I remember correctly.

I used all my chaffs while i was fighting ninja, its ok i used some stingers it took out a few of the turrets, my hp is kinda crappy though stupid liquid.

If you press triangle button you will have his vision of Snake. This way you can track down his location. If you have the FA-MAS it will make your life easier.
