Title: MGS1 on PS2 problem
Yogpod - April 17, 2008 04:29 PM (GMT)
I have recieved the essential collection, but i faced some problems while trying to activate the first MGS on my PS2. the console cant read both discs for some reason. I do not think that there is something wrong about the console itself, because it is not really old for a PS2. What do you have to say about that?
P.S MGS2 and MGS3 are working properly.

Given that the essential collection is a exactly the same as the originally distributed copies, the first MGS won't work properly on a PS2 unfortunately (it will work fine on a slim line PS2 however).

Some slimline models, especially those with 75000+ serials have problems reading CD's.
My silver slimline couldn't read CD's.

Or any PS2 but the one you have... :-( Don't you hate it when that happens!

Since when??? My MGS1 worked on the ps2, original ps2 not the slim. Never a problem at all.

My old big-ass PS2 played them just fine.
And now I have a slim PS2 that's SCPH is 75001 and it reads everything just fine.
I guess it's just luck of the draw if yours will work or not?

My slim PS2 still plays my original copy of MGS fine.

I own a old PS2 I got back in 2002 I believe, and it runs MGS on the PS1 fine.
Try cleaning the disk.
It's all I've thought of. <_<

Erm, I dunno what you people are talking about. First things first, my old fat Playstation 2, worked fine with any Playstation 1 game, including the original Metal Gear Solid for Playstation 1. And so does my Silver Slim PS2.

Different versions of the old fat ones were made.
I had 2. One with a loud fan, one with a quieter. Loud one played it fine, quieter one didn't.

I have the original MGS1 and it plays perfectly on my PS2. The only problem is at the end, during the credits it wont show all the wildlife in the background, and at the end of the credits it will just remain black, rather than taking you to a save screen, and then the main menu.
So play it on a playstation, even if you complete it, you wont get your stealth camo, or whatever you've decided to get when you finish it once through.
Thats what i found, anyway.

My old PAL MGS 1 works fine on my old and fat PS2, well sort of, when i was prompted to change discs half way through i would have to get the old psone out as my PS2 would crash, also at the very end of the credits, where the bit that says produced by Konami and Hideo Kojima etc. it get stuck ALWAYS, without fail, i even tried it ona friend's PS2, the same fukken thing happens, so i had to use my little brother's psone, and had to go through the whole chase sequence with Liquid again.
