Title: Solidus - Mr. President

Messina_Tifoso - April 18, 2008 02:01 AM (GMT)
Alright, if this has been mentioned mods feel free to close this thread.

I finished mgs again today. (I hadn't played it in ages). Im sorta going through the games again before the mgs4 release. Anyway, call me noob, but at the end of MGS1 when Ocelot is talking to Solidus he finishes off by saying Mr. President. Why did he refer to him as Mr. President? Was he President of the project (i.e. Solid vs Liquid) or President of the US as we find out in sons of liberty that the President of the US is merely a puppet controlled by the Patriots.

Solidus' real name is George Sears. He was the US President during that time. In Sons Of Liberty he is no longer President. Also in SOL, you have to rescue his successor and he too mentions to you (Raiden) that Solidus was his predecessor.

Anytime!

Try to put some more things to your posts next time. Do not post minor sentences, it's considered as spamming.

I only say that for your own good. :)

Solidus going under the name George Sears was the president of the United States during the Shadow Moses incident.

Its the other way around, George Sears real name was Solidus.

Well, we can of course discuss the concept of a "Name" but nearly all the Snakes have had some form of non-codename. Solid is refered to as Dave at one point, Solidus is also known as George Sears, and Big Boss (Who wasn't a clone) was named Jack. Liquid is probably/would probably have been names Goliath or some modern derivative.

Of course, wherether these are their birth names or names they recieved in the orphanages they presumably grew up in, is hard to tell.

In Twin Snakes or if you finished the original with the Meryl ending Ocelot also says this:
QUOTE (Ocelot to George Sears/Solidus)
No one knew that you were the third one, Solidus.

Publicly known as Sears and privately by his codename it would seem. Like it's been said, their real names are pretty much irrelevant - they just all have a military codename and a normal one.

Goliath?? LMAO

Not likely. Liquid would have probably had some standard British name like, James or something.

I think he was thinking in more David vs Goliath terms, he mentioned that snake was referred to as Dave at one point (I can't remember this, i might have to replay mgs). Still it's (as the british would say) "a bloody stupid name" lol
